Played Lagos on Monday, teeing off about 12:15pm as a 3some. POP was generally good, with the exception of a 4 group(!) back-up and 25 minute wait on the par3 #7. Blue tees were aawwlll the way back, with 229 yards to the pin. Though I played from the whites, lots of players put it either in the water or short, so it played very much like a par4. After that, things were again mostly clear, with the total round adding up to 4hrs 20mins.

Overall, tees were a bit shaggy, but fairways and rough were cut pretty close, providing for good roll and decent lies. It seems that since the punching last month, they've also done some work on the bunkers, as at least a handful have been refined/bolstered and all were trimmed up nicely. The two greenside bunkers I was in had good sand, medium-soft over firm base and well-groomed.

Greens were pretty nice and lush, mostly smooth and medium-fast, with breaks playing a role around the holes. Only noticed a very few minor areas yet to heal 100%, but a number do have the 'rows' of punching holes growing in darker green colour, just a visual thing. Very good shape right now.

Friendly cart girl was around twice.

Played here again yesterday and thought I should report that the tee boxes were punched and sanded recently and need a few weeks to recover. The greens are still a little bumpy and need time but putted well. Fairway are a little spotty but nice and green, and the bunkers are nice. I would give this place a couple weeks if you want conditions to be above 6 out of 10. Pace again was very good at a little over 4 hours.

Teed off as a 3some at 2:15pm on Monday, with the next group a full hole in front. Caught up to them in a few holes, but never had much of a wait all day. POP ended up right at 4 hours, so looks like it was a good pace all day, with aakes90278 reporting 4 hours with a morning round. Agree with aakes90278 on the course conditions, but wasn't in any traps. Greens were slightly bumpy, but not bad and had a good putting day. Had one of my better rounds in a long time, and attribute a portion of that to making an effort to leave approach and chip shots, etc., below/short of the hole. Wasn't always successful, but would suggest it as a strategy here when possible, as it made a real difference. Teeboxes and fairways were all very good, and typical for the course. Got a decent amount of roll today, even though the fairways weren't cut any shorter than normal. Probably the heat of the day helped dry them out from their normal watering. They punched the two practice greens a week ago, along with Mesa Linda. After seeing the practice greens last Wednesday after their punching, was very impressed to see how far they have come along in 5 days. Probably about 50% healed, but putted reasonably well. Normally, I'd stay away for at least 4 weeks, but am giving Mesa a go next Monday based on what I saw. The greenskeeper here does do a great job in getting the greens to heal fast after punchings. As GK has noted, Lagos will be punched next Monday and Tuesday.

Played here yesterday for the first time in many years. We paid $33 to walk and had a 9:15 tee time. Check in was easy and the course was busy due to a tournament on their other course. The putting green was bumpy and still showing signs of recent punching's and when we got to the first tee their were 3 groups waiting and 3 groups playing the hole. We teed off a little late due to this but once we did we rarely ever waited again and finished our round right at 4 hours!!! The course was green and the weather was near perfect. Overall conditions right now are not bad at all especially the greens....The were smooth, medium fast, and held shots very well. Not at all like the practice putting greens, The sand played great and the tee boxes were level. The fairways and rough were a mixed bag of lush and spotty lies otherwise I would have rated the course about 7-10. The greens were the highlight by far and we would definitely play here again. Long pars threes makes this a good test from the back tees. Very enjoyable rough with generous landing areas.

Played as a 3some in a 5 hour round. All because the starter/marshal (same white-haired guy) insisted on creating a 4some, and then refused to take responsibility/just do his job to ensure they kept pace. Waited on every shot.

Course conditions were good but unremarkable. Tee boxes were very good. Greens were pretty good, fairways a bit wet in a number of them from over-watering, rough was patchy and not too penal, and wasn't in any bunkers today. My playing partners got out of them with no problems.

So... the starter came up to the Los Lagos tee just after a 2some teed off in front of us and pulled two singles from behind us to join them. This is somewhat understandable.

What is not, is this same starter was making the rounds and when we saw him on the 8th hole, we let him know that the group in front of us was at least a hole behind the next group. His response wasn't, "OK, I'll go check it out", it was "well, maybe they started well-behind the group in front of them." I reminded him of the facts.

Nothing changed, the group remained extremely pokey. So, pretty clear he never said anything to them and certainly didn't keep an eye on them. By the time we were standing on the 13th green, we saw the golfers just two groups in front of us, now on the 16th green! So, the group in front of us having just teed off on 14, was now lagging 2 1/2 holes behind! The Marshal was nowhere to be seen. What a farce this marshal is. He was less than worthless. Collecting a paycheck for doing nothing but riding around in a cart. I may have to do the English thing and write a letter.

Played Monday 730 am on 8/7/17, day after the Will Jordan Classic. POP was only about 4 hours. I knew the greens would be good, which they were. That was the highlight of the course. The overall course conditions are not good. GUR is everywhere, they must of went through 5/6 cans of white spray paint prior the WJC. 1. This is the only course I know of that you'll need at least a 6" tee. Some of the tee boxes have super thick spongy kikuyu grass. It's hard to get the tee in the ground because of this. 2. Fairways are a hit or miss, thin lies, good lies or spongy lies. Plus there is absolutely zero roll. 3. Bunkers looked to be in good shape. 4. Greens were the highlight of the round, medium fast, rolled very true, held there line nicely. Glad it only cost $32 to walk, that about what's it worth.

Played Monday, August 7, after the Costa Mesa City Championship over the weekend. Course was in very good condition, particularly the greens. Receptive and smooth. Fairways were cut haphazardly, and as long as you were in the mowed section, they were great and provided decent roll.

Noticed very few GUR areas marked off for the tournament, reminding me of yet another reason that it was a good thing I didn't play in it - I'd be too tempted to roll it out or call a rules official to assess if a rabbit burrowed the hole. (Lots of good scoring on the scoreboards, I wouldn't of had a chance even with handicap - in addition to legit good scoring, there always seems to be a few sandbagging 9-11 handicaps who miraculously score two consecutive rounds of only 4-over par - yea, right).

White tee boxes were wide and easy enough to find a good, level spot, #4, #6, #12, #17 holes being the few exceptions to the rule, but even there, you get by.

Sand was decent, a bit wet at times. I got a fried egg lie in a bunker on #11, but was able to get a sandy - so... the sand was fantastic! ;-)

A great, sunny, weather day. Played as a 3some. POP was longer than a Monday normal due to a pokey 4some in front of us - 4hrs 45mins.

19th hole offers decent atmosphere, just don't bring up Trump's poll ratings. Some guy named Mike will bite your head off.

Played CMCC-LL a couple of times over the last 2 weeks. Nothing new here, same old story. Greens are nice, although the art of ball mark repair is not a priority here. Fairways are pretty nice, good grass coverage with the occasional trouble spot. Tee boxes are fine, with a few bordering on shaggy.

Nothing amazing here, just a solid fun course to play at a good price.

Still a great bargain for OC.

Late-morning round on Los Logos Friday, $35 walking, 4.5 PoP. Fairways and rough drying out significantly, lots of GUR marked for the Will Jordan tourney ... I mean lots ... especially near the fringes and further away. Greens were super firm, very shallow ball marks, and you had to take that into consideration for every approach shot. Rolling quick, mostly true. Not in any bunkers but they looked dry and playable. This heat will affect most courses in the area if they back off on the H2O, but there's plenty of roll out so that's good for the ego ... I was hitting driver much further than norm and clubbing down on every iron. Still a decent layout and easy walk. Cart girls were out but not much drinking water on the course, so beware if you're out on a hot day.
