Played yesterday, Sunday. Teetime 9:30. POP pretty awful 5.5hrs, this course always plays slow, I just don't get it, but you know to expect a slow day and just prepare for it.

Course is in good overall condition. Teeboxes were nice and level, good coverage. They had the markers stretched out across the whole teebox, kinda interesting. You had like a 20yard wide span to choose from. Fluffy bermuda. Fairways were in pretty good shape, fluffy bermuda as well, not much roll. Had one bad lie in a sandfilled divot, but all other times were good. Rough was not too penal, no problems to hit from the rough. Found one bunker greenside and it sucked, wet hardpan underneath a an inch of good sand, avoid the bunkers right now. Greens were in good shape, ran smooth and held shots very well. They were a little slick downhill. Good course to walk, $47 weekend walk rate, not too bad. I would play there more often if they could speed up play, waited half hour on par3 7th, really sucks.

Played here for the first time in a tournament on Sunday, July 9. I had avoided the course the last few years because of reviews on pace of play. Those reviews proved true as it was a solid 5.5 hour round on a hot day. Not as hot as inland though as one could tell we were fairly close to the ocean.

The course layout was kind of confusing in that the separation between it and the sister course was not that clear at times. At one point, we had to tell a group that jumped in front of us (the group playing in front stopped at the snack stand in the middle of the back nine) that they were on the wrong course. I was surprised that there were no out of bounds delineations between the courses.

The course had decent conditions. The rough was up so much that we had to search for balls often. From a comment from another player, I gathered that was unusual. I had a couple of really tough lies in the rough. The fairways and sand traps were fine. The greens were of decent speed (faster than the practice green) but had some bumps that kept it interesting.

Nice facilities, good customer service throughout. Saw the cart ladies multiple times. $4.50 for an 805 after the round. I might be back but it is not a sure thing.

First time playing here. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course. This course should be rated in the 6's in my opinion. Tee boxes were level with minimal digit damage. Fairways have good coverage but because of recent aerification the grass is a little long and little uneven but still playable. Rough
Is the same as the fairway just about a inch longer grass. I was in one fairway bunker and one greenside bunker, both had firm sand witch I prefer rather than being too fluffy. Greens were receptive and medium fast. Not the smoothest greens but rolled ok getting more bumpy as the day went on.

Played today, Monday, 6/26, teeing off at 2:05 as a 3some and was joined by a single on the 11th tee who we've all played with previously, a nice guy who can whack it. No waiting on the front side, and only marginal waiting on the back side, and finished in 4hrs and 5 mins. Nice, sunny, pretty warmish day in Costa Mesa today - glad to not be inland golfing.

Main difference since I played here three weeks ago are the tees and fairways were pretty shaggy. Need to get those mowers rolling. Ball still sat up OK in the fairways. Looks like the fairways were large-punched (about the size of a McDonald's regular hamburger bun) a week or so ago. Growing back nicely, ball rolled OK, but did come to rest in the punch marks several times.

Rough was about 1 club penal. In one greenside bunker on #15, pretty much concrete and airmailed it out of there.

Greens were very smooth, ball tracked well, and putted fast today. The hot conditions seemed to have dried them out, but they still held shots pretty well. Still a nice medium green color.

Never saw a cart lady nor marshal. Today was proof that a 4-hour round can (nearly) be had on Los Lagos by a 4some.

Our normal tee time for our Saturday group on 6/10 at Green River was not available this because of a tournament so we got a time on Los Lagos instead – 7:08. We played as a 5 some this week which I usually hate playing 5 but really wanted to play here as it has been several years. Pace of play was about 4:20. Although early morning, the course was packed and there were two 5 somes ahead of us but we didn’t wait long on any holes. A 3 some followed us but they fell behind. I don’t care what people say but playing as a 5 some does take longer. It had been so long that I could not remember the holes but was pleasantly surprised with the conditions. Although heavy kikuyu, the fairways were lush and in great shape but not a lot of roll out, particularly uphill. Great lies though. The rough was thick also but in good shape. Tee boxes were in great shape as well. Was only in one sand trap and it was in good shape. Good, firm sand. The greens were a little chewed up and were a bit bumpy. Definitely not smooth and tough to read but overall they were just ok. I think this course is a challenge. We played the blues at around 6550 and the tee markers were all the way back. Some of the par five 5’s are long. #14 is 560 but it a sharp dog leg left around water. The par 3’s are all pretty long and vary between 180 and 213. I played ok today but definitely want another shot at it soon.

Played Monday, 6/5, teeing off about 2:15 as a 3some. Waited a bit here and there, but finished in about 4h15m. Not a lot of golfers out, but an abundance of singles and two-somes in front of us that clogged up POP a bit.

Main improvements since I played here three weeks ago, the fairways are cut really nicely, much shorter and a bit wider than usual. Very lush throughout. Still have various bare spots, ruts, etc., but the overall scene starting from the first tee, are some great-looking fairways, and good landing spots are the rule. Ball sat up very nicely.

There was a sharp contrast between the fairways and rough, which hasn't always been the case here, and about 1.5-2" longer than the fairways, adding a club or so.

Greens have healed nicely from the punching, no evidence of it. Greens weren't as smooth as I like to see here, but they putted fair, and at medium-speed today.

Sand looked OK, but gladly was never in one. Saw the marshal once, but the cart lady never popped over to see us. A pleasant, leisurely day on Los Lagos on a mild, cloudy day.

Played Monday, 5/15 teeing off just about 2:15pm as a 3some. POP was very good, slight waits here and there, but finished in roughly 4hrs 10mins, which is great for Los Lagos.

Played Monday, 5/15 teeing off just about 2:15pm as a 3some. POP was very good, slight waits here and there, but finished in roughly 4hrs 10mins, which is great for Los Lagos.

White tees were very lush and green and cut normally for here, not terribly tight, but good enough. Soft footing on both the tees and most fairway lies. Good, but not great roll in the lush fairways. Lagos still suffers from rut damage from the January rains, but its becoming softer to ride a cart through them, as the grass softens the blow. Some spots of the fairways were thin or with differing grasses, but mostly very good and lush kikuyu conditions.

Rough was an extension of the fairways, some inconsistent coverage/lies/grasses. Around the greens, rough was actually nice to hit flop shots from, as the ball sat up nicely.

Greens were aerated just 4 weeks ago, and though they are not quite there - about 90% healed and two weeks away from full healing, imho, the greens putted pretty true, as my 27 putts for the round would indicate. Medium-speed today. Greens seemed soft, but did not hold shots well today.

Was in on greenside bunker on 14 and it was pretty crispy on the top layer. Saw the cart girl 3 times and the marshal once.

Overall, Los Lagos is in very good condition right now, particularly the tees and fairways. Give the greens another 10-14 days, and they should be about as good as it gets here.

Played on Monday, April 10th, teeing off at 1:45pm. Due to the aerification on Mesa Linda a week ago, and a HS tournament in front of us (the youngsters can hit the ball looong), heavier than usual play for a Monday on Los Lagos resulted in POP of 5 hours 15 minutes. I REPEAT, 5 hours and 15 minutes!!! Los Lagos is being aerated next Monday. Along with Mesa Linda last week, the 3 putting greens were all aerated a week ago. They were insanely bumpy, as sand did not fill the punch holes. Please see my review from March 28th for more details on Lagos course conditions... nothing really changed. The cart girl did come by once. Cheery greeting from Andrew in the pro shop. Will be golfing elsewhere for the next month on Mondays... Oh, GOOD NEWS on the practice range front. Grass tees are back in action, and they have fully repaired the range netting/poles that were victimized by the storms in Jan/Feb!

Teed off Wednesday at 8am finishing in 4.5 hours. The greens were in good condition with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways were fair. While the majority of the fairways had decent coverage there are a fair number of thin/bare spots. The rough was decent with some thin/bare spots. The bunkers were in good condition. The tee boxes are fair to good primarily due to mild unlevelness. Los Lagos is an enjoyable track with a nice variety of long and short holes with some doglegs and rolling terrain thrown in. The staff was friendly.
