First off on a very wet Monday morning. Because it was raining when I teed off (6:05am)nobody else around, so pace was great on the front, but caught two groups on the back side, but they allowed me to play through. The course was absolutely soaked, with casual water everywhere. Hard to believe they allowed carts with these conditions? I walked as usual, but still was surprised carts were allowed without restrictions.

As I said, fairways were very wet. Some of the bunkers filled with water. (I was only in one and was lucky enough to avoid the puddle) The greens were the best part of the course. They rolled really true and were surprisingly quick given how wet everything was.

By the time I finished at about 8:20, the sun was out and things looked just beautiful. I had thought about playing Arroyo Trabuco, but figured with the rain it would be cart path only. Played there once under those conditions and Arroyo is a tough walk. Made the right choice this time!

Played Los Lagos Monday, Nov. 14th. Teed off with another single golfer at 12:40pm. Finished 18 in about 3.5 hours, after playing through a few very slow groups, including a five-some (we had to ask to play through). In two cases, there were two holes open in front of them. The Marshall was around, but as far as I could tell did nothing to try and speed up either group. Good thing we did, as we ended up at least 3 holes ahead of the last group, after playing through them on the 12th. We were able to play a few extra holes, due to otherwise light play, until sunset. Tee boxes were great, plenty of green, level grass. Fairways were mostly very good, just a few inconsistent thin patches and several spots of different 'sort-of' grasses (aka, weeds) on a few holes, pretty much typical of the muni tract. Greens were really good. Smooth and mostly medium-speed, just a tad bit slower than I usually see here. Sand traps were pretty good, with the sand not too firm. Check in was smooth and friendly today. Cart lady came by 4 times. Just wish the Marshals here would do more/something to speed up pace-of-play.

Got to sneak out of work early yesterday 10/25 and play and afternoon round of golf. I figured I would play locally in hopes of finishing before dark. Teed off on Lagos at about 3:00pm and the starter was nice enough to give me the $16 super twilight rate plus $8 for a cart, $24 total. I teed off with no one in site and played solo and extremely fast the first two holes. I caught up to a mens group and pace of play slowed down dramatically. I would only finish 14 by the time it got too dark.

All in all course was in okay condition. Greens were very soft and very slow with the rain the day before. The greens look they had been punched aerated maybe a month ago, all healed up but very bumpy. Fairways were okay, some random bare spots and some standing water and mud. Tee boxes had very strange tee placement to avoid mud and dmaged areas. Sand was very wet and hard but common after so much water. Getting out of them was tough and took two shots sometimes. All in all not a bad round of golf given the downpours the day before.

This is my home course and I play here a lot. Compared to the condition end of summer after the city championships I would rate overall course condition 6/10. Give it a few more weeks and some more rain and I could be very good again.

Got out today (10/10/16) on Lagos at 1:40pm. We were behind a group of guys who were smoking pot, so by the middle of the back nine, it seemed everything they did was slow. They were about 7 minutes behind the group in front of them, so a bit frustrating, but not completely derelict. Reminds me of why I don't play here more often, in spite of good proximity and low prices. Round ended up being about 4 hours 50 minutes, finishing about 15 minutes after sunset. Greens were pretty good, not an excessive amount of ball divots, but just bumpy from foot traffic. Fairways were very good, only a few soft/wet spots from over-watering and the rough was pretty typical, about 2" in most places. Tees were all level and great.

Cart girl only came around 1 time, being late in the day I guess.

Lagos will be aerated next week. I took a peek at Mesa Linda, which was aerated on 3rd/4th October, and just a week later, both greens I surveyed were pretty much healed, just slight discoloration where the punches were. So, good news on that front - Mesa is pretty much ready to play, and give Lagos two weeks, and it should be pretty good, as well.

Played today with a Meetup group . The conditions were good. The tee boxes were huge, lush and all level. The fairways had some brown and bare spots but they didn’t cause any problems. The greens were very fast with plenty of ball marks to keep up busy repairing. One of the bunkers I was in had a reasonable amount of sand (dirt?) and the other two were hard enough to make my ball bounce/roll out- no complaints there!

Playing here was a good choice as the strong breeze was a great relief from the heat. It was a ‘bad’ choice because this course is so long … 5900+ from the forward tees …definitely longer than what I can expect to do with a reasonable score, but I had a lot of fun trying. The course was fairly empty and we were finished in under 4 hours. I look forward to playing here again.

I actually went to Costa Mesa to play Mesa Linda, but as it wasn't too crowded, was able to get out on the "big course". The course was in better condition than I expected, the greens rolled well, plenty of grass in the fairways, (some spots overwatered) Rough was spotty at times.

I don't play here all that often, but must admit it was enjoyable because pace was decent, weather was great, and just maybe because I played well, a very positive experience. The course itself is not particularly interesting, but a nice change of pace.

Teed off Monday, 9/12, at 9:30 finishing in 4:20. The greens are in good condition. They rolled decent with medium speed and held shots. The fairways are mostly good with a some thin areas. The rough is mostly good with some thin/bare spots. The greenside bunkers had good sand fill. The tee boxes are fair to good due to mild unlevelness. Unfortunately some spots around the course are over saturated with water (I think they use reclaimed water allowing them to water more).

This is a walkable course that is mostly flat with a few holes that have rolling terrain. The layout has a few doglegs and water comes into play on a few holes. There are 2 putting greens, a chipping green, and driving range with mats or grass for a couple dollars more per bucket. The staff was friendly.

Played Fri Aug 12th 7am tee time. This is the first time I played this course. Got lost getting there, was driving around the state mental parking lot, lol. Check in staft was nice, starter was a lot more friendly than last week at Eagle Glen. We walked from the blues. Always tound a level spot on the tee box. Fairways were very wet so not much roll out, never plugged but had to move for casual water twice. Was in 1 bunker and it had better sand than it looked walking to it. Greens were reseptive, but that also meant there were a few ball marks, nothing that was terrible but had to fix a few spots. POP for walking was ok at 3:50, we waited on a 3 some quite a few times. Service at the snack bar was very friendly but I have had better food. Overall I liked Los Lagos, I know we will come back.

Played here on Tuesday 2 August, grabbing a $32 twilite rate w/cart for Los Lagos at 1:30pm. Amazingly, walked up with no one else to tee off with (a gaggle of golfers were intent on playing Mesa Linda at the time), so waited about 10 minutes and was joined by another single golfer who could hit it a mile. By the third hole, we caught up to the 4some in front of us. Pace of play here is a big issue, and the front was about 2.5 hours, but things sped up on the back and we finished the round in about 4 hours 20 minutes. Would've been faster, but for the two 5somes of walking 'umbrella people' that sometimes flood this course.

Course was in good shape, with the fairways being lush and green. Most of the fairways on the front were in need of mowing, and by the time we got to the back, we finally hit a number of holes that were freshly cut. Roll was therefore, a bit less than hoped on the front.

Outside of a few bare spots in the rough near cart paths/cart traffic, nothing to complain about other than the full, tough kikuyu grass around the greens. Very tough on the short game! Greens were recently micro-punched, but a non-factor. Bumpiness of greens from heavy traffic the only real complaint about them, but otherwise pretty smooth. Greens speeds were fast to very fast at times due to pin positions on slopes.

Andy Crinella in the pro shop is a friendly guy, works to get you out as quick as possible, and it is enjoyable to have a chat with him. Cart girl was around 3 times and Lori in the bar/19th hole is always the charmer. Too bad they don't have any food selections to speak of in the early evening besides a bag of chips/pretzels.
