Counter person was friendly upon arrival. Played Friday 8/5/16 as a two some but got stuck behind a 5 some. Had to skip the 2nd hole to get around then replay it after 7th. Layout is nice but the course was not in the best condition. Had a breakfast burrito at the turn and it was good.

First lets be honest this course is what it is. Conditions here are better than average. Although the greens are slow to horribly slow they received shots well. Very easy to stick a shot next to the pin from 200 yards yard's out. Dancing the ball on the floor was quite easy. The greens were punched a few months ago and have healed nicely. A few had been dressed recently but still rolled true.

Fairways were mostly green Kikuyu grass. There were a few brown areas or areas that were painted GUR but nothing to menacing. A few other areas will probably require a little more work but again over all they were green and provided descent lies.
Rough here is not to bad, thin but playable. A few spots were quite fluffy and a few others were rather dry, again though better than average.

The sand here is horrible however. Probably have better luck hitting off the freeway and getting the ball close. Maybe an inch of sand, hard and mostly the consistency of cured concrete. I enjoy playing from the sand so normally I toss a few balls into a few bunkers to get a good feeling before I comment. However looking at them and finally stepping foot in one, plus watching Kassper7 hitting out of a few I wanted nothing to do with them here.

Tee boxes were mostly level, a few had some expected divots but above average in condition.

I felt conditions overall were better than some of the more expensive course that seem to be letting things go, certainly well worth the rack price or any deals you might find. At just over 6100 yards its a good place to practice your short game or work on your fairway woods from the tee. The course is worth a play and the staff here has worked hard in keeping things nice.

Played Sat 5/7 morning with Golfmoose deal. Course condition was just okay - decent greens (except some greens as I wrote below), fairways some bare spots and some areas okay, sands that I was in were all very hard (hitting balls directly from sand traps actually worked better than hitting sands behind balls).

However, I saw something that I never saw in other courses regarding maintenance of greens. There was no maintenance alert on GK page. So I assumed that they were not doing maintenance on greens. Front nine, it was fine. Then, after the turn, the greens on Holes 10, 11, 12, and 15 (I think) were punched and top dressed with sand. Only 4 holes. I never saw any course doing that on only 4 holes. I wonder they were only doing those 4 as emergency measure. Pro shop guy didn't mention anything about that. It didn't ruin my experience of the round but we were scratching our head on this... weird maintenance strategy.

The course is short but do not underestimate this course. It is tough with all the tree lines and elevation changes and heavily guarded greens.

Here there are various elevation changes having great views, no side by side fairways, and greens having an excellent surface. Other then the traps being firmly packed, for a 50 year old course this place has plenty to offer any type duffer. I'll be returning...

Played this morning in the wind, fun time. Course is in excellent condition. Greens smooth and fast, fairways, lush and green, sand bunkers, sand? No where to be found and now they are so bad you can't even putt out of them anymore, they should be circled in white and played as GUR, Some had big gouges in them and tire marks like the maintenance crew had been doing donuts in them.

Tee'd up Saturday morning reservations at 8:45 am didn't get started until 9:15 am. Heavy marine layer slowed pay for the first hour. Greens are in excellent shape. Didn't really care for the sane traps as there is no sand. Great layout and number 9 hole is beast too play. I personally like the back nine better than the front nine. No cart service and i didn't see a marshal on the course. We had some slow players in our group but other than that will come back to see if i can break 80's on this course. It's not that long but some challenging holes. Fairways in good conditions but rough areas could stand for improvement. Great service in the bar/snack area and the front desk. They kept things moving along. GN $35 for Saturday morning tee times can't beat it.

Decided to play here today. It's been many years since I visited Indian Hills, so I finally took advantage of one of their nice midweek hot deals on GN. $15 for a 9:53 time was well worth it. It seemed like mostly member groups going out when I arrived. I was paired with another single and we teed off around 10:45. Another twosome caught us while we waited on the 3rd tee, so they joined us. The course all day was stop and go. Sometimes we had to wait a lot and other times the hole would be wide open when we got to the tee box. Overall, it was a 4.5-hour pace.

I was pleasantly surprised by course conditions considering I've heard nothing but horror stories on GK the past few years. Things were quite green throughout the course. The tee boxes could use some leveling out, but the grass coverage was nice. The fairways were mostly quite good. There were some ugly spots here and there, but I almost always had fluffy perfect lies on the kikuyu turf. The rough was more hit and miss with a little bit of everything in play, but still pretty decent in the areas that mattered most (just off fairways and around greens). The greens were soft and rolling at medium speeds. I fixed my share of stray ball marks, but overall pretty good surfaces. The bunkers were the one real blemish. I was in a couple and they were absolutely terrible. Just rock-hard with no sand to work with at all.

I happen to like this layout with some fun target holes, lots of ups and downs, and tricky greens. It could use some renovation overall as it's a bit rough around the edges, but the conditions seem to be headed in the right direction. Based on previous reviews, it seems the fairways are about as nice now as they have been in a long time. Great deal for $15 and hopefully they can keep it at least somewhat decent throughout the year. We'll see.

However the men's club members (old white men) were very rude and obnoxious teeing off in the morning. I wish this course would do away with their men's clubs. All the morning tee times are filled until usually 11 or 12. Greens ran extremely fast on this course and fairways were in decent shape. Overall I give it a 6 out of 10. The staff is very friendly and management is very, very nice. Pace of play for us was 3 1/2 hours only because I got there when it was still dark and tee'd off before the moron men's club could go out.
