Course is fairly challenging, the front 9 is a lot less protected then the back 9. Good for players like me who need to warm up through the front 9. Fairways had some bare spots but nothing out of control, greens rolled true to their line. Overall good experience, the snack cart came by a couple times, as did the superintendent to observe pace of play but all was fine. Will definitely play again!

When i come down to Temecula i always enjoy playing Cross Creek. The course was in pretty good shape. The greens were pretty firm and fast. Fairways look good. I had a lot of fun.

Well, like so many other courses in the San Diego area, this one is a tale of differing nines. From August 5th, they switched the nines so that you now play the back nine first. After completing 18 holes, it become clear as to why. The back nine is pretty bad. Very tight, poor conditions, and poorly designed holes. The front was much better. Better condition, more open, and better designed holes. So the reason for switching the nines becomes clear. The back nine leaves such a bad impression, that they would prefer you play it first, and finish on the front nine. It is also clear that maintenance appears to be limited to mowing. There were some bunkers that could certainly do with a weeding. There are also fairways that are had some sever balding. Ok here's a question. Why make a hole where the fairway ends at 250 yards, and then you have a 200 yard carry to a narrow green where you are dead if you go right. Well that is the 18th for you. There there is another hole (the 12th I think), where you have to hit a 5 iron off the tee, then hit a 9 iron to the green. There are more examples of this on the front nine. Unlike a course like Woods Valley (one of the best designs in San Diego), where there is both risk and reward, this course (especially the front) is all risk. Crosscreek markets itself as a links course. I grew up on a links course, and sorry CrossCreek.... but you are no links course. If there were ever a marketing lie, that would be it. Funny thing is that there were patches of goodness. The 2nd green is in phenomenal shape..... but that is one green. The 4th fairway is in beautiful shape.... but that is one fairway. There is not much you can do about the design of the back nine. However, if the all the greens were like #2, and all the fairways were like #4, I would consider playing there again. However, until that happens, I will save myself the 50 minute trip.

The 18th fairway is under constrcution as it appears they are cahbging it to allow for a longer drive or for shorter hitters to lay up on their approach. Very rough condition on 18. Overall the course was very nice and the staff was as ususal, very pleasant.

What a sad state of affairs this course has become. Its obvious that the revenue stream that was needed to keep this course in the condition it originally was in has dramatically decreased. The big problem is the greens and the adreas adjacent to the greens--they're horrible. Sparse grass, diseased greens, areas of sand and dead grass on the edges of multiple greens. Ever heard of a sod farm guys!?!
Bottom line is, its a beautiful track--tough as hell--but you cant expect people to drive all the way out there, then get punished and then of top of it all have to deal with crap greens.
My suggestion--spend some $$ on green maintenance and let another part of the course go down.
NOT WORTH FULL PRICE!

Played on a Wednesday morning. As mentioned in my previous review, this is one of my favorites courses in Southern California, and also as previously mentioned, this course had serious maintenance issues that would deter me from making the trip out here again. I am happy to report those issues for me have been mostly solved.

I can report that most of the teeboxes remain in marginal to bad shape—on a level with an average muni. They should do better. The first fairway is a bit beat up, but that was about it. All the other fairways were in good to very good condition—maybe thin in a few places, but nothing that would give anyone cause for complaint.

Four greens still had bare spots. Number 3 had bare/patched spots on front and back edges; number 12 had a noticeable bare spot near an edge; number 17 had large bare patches on edges front and back and damaged areas behind the green and number 18 had damage and replacement sod around the edges for about ½ the perimeter of the green.

As noted by another reviewer, damage to the greens is around the edges and attempts at repairing them are in progress. The greens themselves were otherwise in very good condition and very firm; approach shots generally will not hold, but in spite of the firmness they were not super fast.

I would say this tract is worth playing again. It’s challenging, scenic and peaceful. $65 on a weekday before 12 pm is not bad. Temporary scorecards do not have any of the yardages on them, but the GPS system worked well. The black tees should only be played by those who can drive well as a few of the holes from them have +200 yard carries.

Played for the first time here on April 12th. I was overall very impressed, especially after reading some of the prior poor reviews. We got a discounted rate with it being Easter day and the course was practically empty. The tee boxes and fairways were in excellent shape and the greens pretty good - except a few that had small bare spots (generally away from the pin or on the edge of the green). This is a course that requires accurate tee shots for any chance to make par. The layout is challenging - there is not one boring hole on this course - unusual for SoCal. Everyone in my foursome agreed this is a course we will play again -well worth the 150 mile roundtrip drive. As a side note - if your afraid of bee's beware - the first five holes we could hear thousands of bee's humming in the woods - they flew around (and in between) us on the third green but did not bother us otherwise.
