Here are some detailed facts about the condition of this course. The rough on the left side along the entire length of the fourth hole is encroached by the construction. First and second shots can land is dug up areas that should have been repaired because they are so close to the course. No. 5 is so wet in the fairway and especially just to the left front of the green. Balls plug and my practice swing with a short pitch covered my wedge with wet mud. The area between no. five and six is undefined. It is only ten yards wide but has been dug up for a sewer pipe and left unrepaired. Just to the left of the green on no. six across the cart path the ground has been totally dug up and left unrepaired. Most holes have dug up fairways in the center due to tire tracks from maintainance people. See holes ll and especially no. 13. Area in front of green on fourteen and to the right too wet and tire track damage. Traps are being repaired which is a good sign.

What this *gentleman* has failed to mention is that, in the last 10 days, new, quality sand has been added to the bunkers on the last 6 holes of this course. At this rate it should just be a couple more weeks before the bunker problems have been fully resolved. So much for being a fair source of feedback on the conditions of the course, ye of few consonants.

He is probably too distracted by his own mediocre golf to bother with providing a robust reporting of the conditions of this course.

I agree with most of the comments I have seen. There are to many divots on the greens. The bunkers need work. However, the decade memberships make this club an incredible bargain. They may have a few left. For 20k you get the next 10 years of golf for you, your spouse and children under 21 and living at home. The membership is unlimited golf with cart and free use of the driving range. Figure it out. That is $166.67 per month for your entire family. The total number of these memberships are 30. How many country clubs have 36 holes of golf? Are these the very best courses in Southern Ca. ? No. Are these good courses with plenty of challenges? Yes. Is this a deal or what?

Mr. tmt of hemet is correct. Finally a man who has critical thinking ability and is able to discern the real issues. He gets my point that the courses have the ability to be great tests and even possible sites for major championships, but not under present conditions. My suggestion to save these courses is for the scpga to donate the land back to the housing developers or a homeowners association in exchange for a management contract . Each house that is sold would include a golf membership and a portion of the monthly fees would go to maintain the courses. Memberships could be transferred for a fee. This solution gives financial blood, a continuous stream of revenue and life to a course that cannot be maintained properly by daily fees. Thanks Mr tmtl for your insights.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. People read this feedback in order to decide whether it is worth their time and money to play the course. Actions speak louder than words, so clearly Mr. Rancho Mirage thinks that this course is worth playing. I think what he is trying to say is that this course, although very nice, could be a truly top-shelf facility if some of these conditioning issues were dealt with. Unfortunately, his message is muddled by the way he dwells on the negatives. Consequently, when someone reads his feedback looking for an "is it worth it" type of comment, what they see is a very negative review, even though his opinion of this course is clearly high enough to justify his frequent play of it.

The greens are too soft which has made less of an emphasis on the short game because one no longer has to worry about speed as on firm conditions. Did this guy not notice the excessive ball marks and uneven putting surfaces? How does he like landing a long iron just short of the green and having it stick in the soft mush leaving a ball mark and a muddy ball for the next shot? Am i imagining this? I dont hate this course. Im disappointed. Oh, and by the way, the housing is encroaching on the course in several areas. Former difficult rough areas are now under construction. See the right side of no. three. How about left of the green on four? What happened to the left side of number five which was torn up to put in a sewer pipe for the new housing and left a muddy mess? The housing will not help the course to any great extent because this course has no financial interest in the real estate development. Maybe, they may attract ten percent of the residents to play, but that will be a maximum of four hundred people who may be golfers. Daily fee courses in highly dense populated areas can hardly make it so why does this guy think a few nuts who want to live on top of a freeway will economicly benefit this place? I dont care what the green fee is. The fact is that this course is not in great condition. The bunkering has been bad for five years. Dont give me the recent rain. If that were the case, then every course in southern ca. should have poor bunkers. Not. I speak the truth

The course is going through the growing pains of having a developemnt built around it. Thankfully none of the homes appear to be encroaching on play or altering any of the holes. On the day that I played, the greens were smooth, the fairways were moderately fast and approach shots held nicely. The bunkers, which appear to have experienced some damage around the edges from rain, where being renovated and the holes that I say that had been worked on looked great. With thier $5 replay rate you can go out and play both courses during the week for $60. You can't beat this deal, they are both great courses.

WOW...This guy from Rancho Mirage hates just about everything about the golf course, but plays it almost every day? I played the PGA Course many times over the years and I think it is going through a very natural maturing stage. The bunkers are not in pristine condition now, but are still very playable. Every shot I played from a bunker reacted like I thought it would. Besides, a bunker is a hazard. I don't expect great lies. I wasn't suppossed to hit it there. Have you ever heard of Pine Valley? They don't even provide rakes and its considered one of the best courses in the country. I noticed that on the Champions course about a week ago, they have started renovating the bunkers and their physical appearance is much improved.

I've played the course four times over the last three months and have not seen the problems this guy is talking about nor had anything interfer with the enjoyment of my round. The housing has not altered one hole, and I hate to break it to him, but housing and population are what keeps golf courses alive. Heck, the houses are not even in play. The greens putt true and I have not had one drive plug or even have mud on it, so I don't know what he's talking about the course being so wet. This guy should drive around to the other courses in the surrounding area and then come back to see how good this place really is. Yucaipa, Calimesa, Moreno Valley, Oak Quarry, Sun Lakes, are all notches below this place as far as I'm concerned. If you hate this golf course so much, just stop playing it.
