It has been a while since the last review here. I've played probably 10 times since October, this is basically my 'home course' now because I live 5 minutes away and I am a maniac. Weekdays are much better pace of play than weekends. They will let you walk but I don't recommend it unless you're in good shape. Conditions are seemingly improving ahead of the upcoming Epson Tour event, there is something resembling real sand in some of the bunkers now, teeboxes are probably 90% nice and even, greens are fast and hold shots if you land where you ought to, rough is still a little hit or miss. Maybe it'll never be as manicured as it once was but it's still an interesting and challenging layout (with fabulous views of suburban sprawl and Amazon warehouses). I would call their afternoon rate of $45 on the weekday 'approaching reasonable' for the golf you get. Wish the restaurant/bar was open on weekdays. Legends course is going to be reopening as a full 18 soon (mid or late April?), from gossiping with the pro shop guys.

Played Champions at 8:13am with a cart for $65. This course continues to embody the philosophy of maximum profit with minimal amenities. Conditions haven't changed much, bunkers are crappy/muddy/standing water, but the greens are now back to their pretty fast speeds albiet with many spike marks and unrepaired ball marks - if you can avoid those you'll have putts that roll true and require soft touch. Beverage cart does not have coffee, even though the pro shop said they would have coffee. Restaurant is only open Fri-Sun. Range grass sucks but the practice putting and chipping greens are nice. My recommendation is to just keep driving to Palm Springs...

Had to try Morongo Champions again after about 5 months, Waste of time. The Indians that own this course will not spend a dime on maintenance and it is a sad thing as the course was originally perfection. We spent 4 and half hours shacking our heads at what used to be, moving the ball all over to hit out of grass instead of dirt on too many fairways, we gave up by the back nine and just played bunkers as ground never going to be repaired. Course is a nice mix of challenging holes but the maintenance of the place just makes one sad.

Got a 3:03pm tee time by calling, $45 bucks twilight rate including cart. I would call that 'not great, not terrible' for a Saturday afternoon on this track. Teeboxes are mostly good, some unlevel/beat up spots. Fairways and rough mostly lush with good lies, some funky or dead spots. Bunkers are played as waste areas and you might find good sand or you might find hard dirt or standing water or mud. Was supposed to be playing with three others, they let me go out ahead, caught up with a twosome on the third and was waiting on teeboxes on the front nine which turned into waiting on almost every shot on the back 9. POP was about 4h40m.

I'd like to specifically call out the greens: they were running faster than usual due to an AJGA tournament of some kind happening on this day, but are still quite bumpy/pockmarked in places, some dry/dead spots and just lots of unrepaired ball/spike marks. Basically, they roll nice when you don't have something wacky in your line!

Restaurant was open when we teed off, no drink cart due to the junior tournament, generally fine service and friendly staff. Some of the water refill stations were empty. Blue tees remain quite challenging, they had some playing forward and some playing from the tips (!) which was an interesting change.

What is going on, played Morongo (Champions) today with a 10:20 tee time, went up to starter at 10:00 and he said you want to go out as a single no one is on the tee sheet till 10:20 (me and 3 others) and there is no one off in the last 20 minutes. Course is getting ready for Women's EPSON TOUR in 2 weeks so course is in good condition (working on sand traps all over the place) Tee boxes are moved around a bit, getting some ready for the ladies I guess, greens were very hard and fairly fast but ball rolled very true. Had a very fast round which I was not used to at Tukwet Canyon and even pared the 11th hole which, for me, is about the hardest par 5 I play in the inland empire.

Played here today with a 10:53 TeeOff.com "Deal" time. Started a little late (10th tee start today for some reason) and waited almost all day, but POP was good at a little under 4 hours.

Played here today with a 10:53 TeeOff.com "Deal" time. Started a little late (10th tee start today for some reason) and waited almost all day, but POP was good at a little under 4 hours.

Conditions are quite good! Greens are really nice, rolling smooth, medium fast, and very accepting of full shots. I found some unfixed ball marks but otherwise they're in really nice shape. Fairways are also nice, with good coverage of lush green grass providing a good cushion under the ball. There are some divots and spots here and there you'll hope to avoid, but for the most part, fairways are good. The rough is also quite lush but not very penal, around 3 inches deep. Blue tee boxes are probably the low point, especially the par 3s which have tons of divots. I wasn't in any bunkers but they looked pretty good, although there seemed to be lots of pebbles/clumps in them. Overall, the course didn't really show any issues from all the recent rains.

I didn't hear the full story, but apparently the Legends course did sustain damage from the storm and only has six holes open right now as a result.

Lets start with the good. The course is very lush. Fairways and rough are nice. The greens and tee boxes are decent. Now the bad. The bunkers...what a farce. They are hard with rocks and high lips. They should either put sand in them, redo them or, get rid of many of them. The course is too hard for the average player. The elimination of many of these eyesores would help speed up play which leads into another bad, slow play. I played on a weekday and the round took 5 hours and 15 minutes!!! The people who run this place close one course Monday through Thursday. Big mistake! The 18 that is open becomes way too crowded contributing to such slow play. There is no way I will ever make this drive again to play at a snails pace waiting on every tee box and fairway.

Course has improved conditions except for excess water
in some areas. Mud balls were not welcomed. Greens held
and ran medium speed. Some holes did not warn of "cart
path only" but shut off carts randomly. Very frustrating!
Bar & grill operated as advertised (limited hours on a Saturday).
Last groups of our club were not able to receive food/beverage.
Outside staff are great, except for onsite marshall who was unaware
(ignorant) of holes with cart path only.

Traps are in terrible condition. Packed sand and lots of weeds. Also TONS of gopher holes all over the course. Especially around the traps.
