A 3:18pm tee time on a Sunday afternoon cost us $25 each. The sun was scorching that afternoon- HOT!
It was one of those unplanned afternoon with my nephew who is back to golf again from many years ago that didn't really catch on to begin with so it was well worth the price. To add to that, the staff were nice and receptive at the pro shop and the cart barn guy offered to give us a cart each Like they do for everybody else it looks like which helped the afternoon pace of play for all.

Neither my nephew or I really didn't mind the peppered ball marked greens nor the sandless or is it clay granules in the bunkers. I'm no expert, but the type of base they have on these greens are not the sand based, they are soft and it uses a lot of water. I'd bet they're great in the beginning of day but it gets torn up by the afternoon because they're so soft unlike the sand based greens down the lower desert. Other parts of each greens away from the hole were very nice and smooth. The fairways were hard and it ran pretty good but then there were some areas that had been so over watered that cart tire marks had raised and sunken mud with grass in those spots. Roughs were spotty- some have it thick but many areas where it plays were thin. The teeing grounds were okay and level. The blue tees were moved up pretty close to the white tees, too.
If you're just kicking it around an afternoon round, they have a good pace and still can be a satisfying round without being picky.

Had a 12:15pm tee time on Saturday on the Champions course. They had two tournaments going on but the staff handled it with no problem. Check in was easy and first tee organized and well on point. Tee boxes were level and had good coverage, fairways and rough also had good coverage. Sand traps were very compacted and inconsistent. Green complexes are guarded with some deep bunkers and it was a guessing game on how the ball would come out. Greens were receptive to good shots, were smooth but a little on the slow side.
Usually don't play in the afternoon on weekends and was worried about POP. Took 4.5 hours to get around which I thought was very good with how many golfers were on the course. Got a very good rate on their website.

Rode the Blues (6348/71.3/130) with 24hourgolf in 4H early morning using UP. Calm, overcast and chilly made for a long course. Matched up with Sebastian and Diego, 7th and 5th graders respectively. Coming from a family of golf professionals, they both had beautiful swings. The 5th grader had not hit his growth spurt yet. He played the red tees and had a really solid game. I would have guessed that the 7th grader was a college golfer just watching from afar. He was consistently 275 down the middle with a killer short game and shot a -2 70 from the Blues?!?!?! Schmidy/Curley design that is a solid, challenging layout. Not an overly tight course, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing penalty strokes (lost ball bushes & native overgrowth) into play. A couple of risk/reward par 4's that longer hitters can have a go at the green. The tees were at best okay. Most of the par 4/5 tees had good coverage and were decent. Most of the par 3 tees were in mediocre to poor condition with lots of divots. The fairways were patchy with good coverage, about 50/50 thin/lush. The rough was lush, thick and penal, especially when wet early in the round. The sand traps were well raked. However, damp and hard packed with inconsistent depths is challenging to play out of on hard/fast greens. The large green complexes were nicely designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. The poa annua greens were quick. Medium fast to fast speed and firm. Slightly better condition overall than the Legends greens IMO. This would be a very challenging course to walk, numerous tees were a hike from the last green. The carts have nice GPS. All grass range is a plus. The customer service was excellent from everyone, no drink cart today. Recommended if you get a deal, but I would not pay rack rate for these conditions.

Played today on the Undepar $50 All Day Special with Nickesquire. POP was 3h 50 under cold, cloudy skies (what is going on? It was 80 yesterday). Friendly check in in Pro shop and with starter. Found all customer service to be excellent at all levels. Speaking for myself, I found the course conditions less than "par". While the course is green, the fairways are spotty and you will find a mixture of different lies. Also, not much roll in them either. The tee boxes, while tee friendly, did not look good at all. The rough was about an inch high and punishable. Traps are big, deep and while looking good, are not very playable (hard packed and just hard to get the club under the ball). Greens are very strange? They looked like brown linoleum and speckled with green paint (I think my Grandmother had this floor). I have never seen greens look like this? Yet they putted fine and had plenty of speed (go figure). The best par of the day, was when we let two young players go through us and then joined them on the back 9? Diego was a seventh grader who drove the ball about 290 and his brother Sebastian a fifth grader only hit it 200? A pleasure to watch and two of the nicest young men you would ever meet. Diego wants to go to ASU or FL St. I will be watching in the years to come.

Played the Champions Course on Monday 11/26/18 as a twosome. Teed off at 9:30am. Pace of play was a leisurely 3.5 hours. It was a pleasantly cool day in the low to upper 60's, with a constant light wind around 10 mph, with occasional gusts a little higher than that. Into the wind, your shots were definitely affected, but it wasn't too bad. I had never played this course until today. I was hoping for very nice conditions. Although it was pretty good, the overall course was good, but not great. Tee boxes were fine. The fairways were mostly green, with some thin and bare spots around. The coverage was good, but I was hoping for more lush conditions. The rough was patchy. Some areas were thick and lush at about 1 - 2 inches. Other areas were hard pan and bare. Most of the green surrounds were fairly lush, and mostly good to hit from. I was in 2 greenside bunkers and 1 fairway bunker. The sand is more dirt like, firm but reasonable to hit from. I had no trouble splashing out onto the green. The greens were firm and medium fast. Downhill they were very fast. The hard greens meant few pitch marks from balls landing on the greens and it was difficult to hold the green on your approach shot unless you hit it high with a good amount of spin. We ended up hitting approach shots short and letting them run up on the greens so they wouldn't end up at the back or even off the back. This is a fairly challenging course. Most of the tee shots play to comfortably wide fairways. The greater difficulty for me was the approach shots. Many holes are heavily bunkered, with sloping and elevated greens. Depending on pin placement, 3 putts were definitely in the picture. I enjoyed the round today, but it's not my favorite course in the Riverside county area.

October 13, 2018 goes on the Southern California calendar with reports of the long awaited rain which was great! The temperature was in the high 50s for the most part with some breze. I’m not sure that this playing and current weather conditions will be a fair review for the course. It was wet and soggy conditions. What’s good is that the course is covered with good grass and for the most part the rough were lush though not very penalizing.. aw wet sand and some water in it. The greens rolled real well but it’s soaked and holds the ball where it lands- that could be good news for some or not.. for some. The pace of play sucked behind a very slow tournament- over 5 hours... YIKES!!!! Still a good golf day- better than going to a dental appointment. The kid practicing for his am tour next week was an inspiration to tee with- all day bombs and darts from him.. shakin my head.. kids these days... I’ll need to come back here and play it again in a better weather and conditions- nice track. Bev cart were around a few times. Staff were good and attentive including snack bar food folks.

Rough was just cut easy to find ball, but rough is very penal, After the first cut. Fairways in great shape. Some areas were really muddy played those as gur. Greenside bunkers were great, I was in a few ( 3 sandys!!) Greens were great, fixed a few ballmarks. Course is in spectacular shape. Only complaint is they dont have ball washers anywhere on the course?? But it's been like that since they had the ball/club cleaner on cart then removed them.

After reading Hollis and adigitalg87 reviews I decided to play the champions course before it goes down for maintenance. I want to thank Morongo for a great experience and Hollis and adigitalg87 reviews. I've been passing on playing here despite it being local. Golf course was in wonderful condition. Much improved from my last round here in the Spring.

Booked an 8:52 round for the champions course Sunday morning for $63. I arrived at the course more than an hour early in order to take advantage of the ample and very spacious practice area. Two huge putting green complexes, an ample chipping area that often has balls ready to be collected to practice with, including a pretty big bunker adjacent to get bunker practice in, along with an all grass range with about 20 or so stalls to hit from. The champions course was very busy today, as expected due to the closure of the legends course for maintenance. Short waits on nearly every hole, but not long enough to be annoyed, at least not in my opinion. Pace of play ended up being right around 4:45.
Tee boxes had good coverage, don't remember any being unlevel except for the tee box on the par three number 15. Large tee areas for tee boxes to be moved around regularly ensure no overuse in any one particular spot to avoid excessive divot damage, very important for the par three holes. 8/10
Fairways were very lush in some places, quite wet in others where there was a bit of over watering, but virtually no dry spots that I came across. The softness of fairways led to good drives having very little roll out, which is not a complaint, just a state of fact. 8/10
The bunkers, and I was in a few, were mostly damp, but playable as long as you didnt try to get too far under the ball. A pleasant surprise to play out of actual sand versus the soft dirt I've encountered at some other inland empire courses. 7.5/10
Rough was quite penal, in some places your ball was only visible standing within 10 feet or right on top of it. In other places, though not many, it was a bit patchy wherein the ground was maybe a bit too hard to grow consistent coverage throughout. Difficult to rate
Greens were nicer than I typically expect here with the high amount of traffic. They did seem to be just a touch quicker than the practice greens. Plenty of contours on these green complexes, and I've played here when it seemed the person who places the pin positions was angry at the world, but not so much on this day, lol. I did find myself fixing between 2 and 3 unrepaired divots per green. 8/10
Due to the large practice areas, engaging starters who maintain order on first tee box, a cart girl who makes regular rounds, the course marshalls who constantly observe and the friendly staff, from check-in, restaurant and cart barn attendees, this is one of my favorite places to play. Highly recommended.
