Played the Champions course 5/5/18. I was supposed to play the legends but they moved us over at our request because it was less busy.This course is beautiful! I was very impressed with how green the fairways were. Tee boxes were in pretty good shape. Some had some damage but overall they were good. They cut the grass so theres 3 cuts. Fairway, 1st cut and a 2nd cut. I love this because this is how a course should have it. Greens were slow in the morning and sped up as the temperature went up. Not too difficult to read. The point on this course is just to play safe and you can score well. It's not a course you want to take risks on. The scenery was great and my father and I finished in 4 hours. We only had to wait on the 1st hole and other than that P.O.P was great! The starter was an older man who was very kind but you could tell wasnt all there in the head. He told us, "Now after you play hole #1, you then go to play hole #2." HA!! I think he was just lonely. Anyways it was a great day for Golf. Only bad thing was that we got there at 6:50am on cinco de mayo and they had NO ONE IN the bar!!!!!! We saw the cart girl 3 times but not until hole 8. It was 97 degrees out and cold beer would have been great on holes 1-7!!!! They need to staff their clubhouse more efficient.

Was disappointed on the conditions at the course. The fairways were not in good condition and for the price it should be much better. The greens rolled well ,but so firm you could. It hold an approach shot. I played the course in December and it was awesome, so I hope it is just changing of the grass seeding and not just letting it go?

Played Morongo yesterday with a 1037 tee time. POP was 5 hours and 45 mins (!!). I love the layout of these two courses but right now the conditions are pretty sub par for them.

Played Morongo yesterday with a 1037 tee time. POP was 5 hours and 45 mins (!!). I love the layout of these two courses but right now the conditions are pretty sub par for them.

Tee boxes: A little beat up but level. Mowed close and wide enough to find clean spots.
Fairways: Winter thin, fairly firm, but the ball always sat up. A couple of times it bordered on too thin however. Back nines coverage better than the front.
Rough: 1.5 to 2 inches. In some places much higher. Ball would sit up though and it wasn't a huge factor in club selection
Bunkers: Seemed thin but actually played just fine. A lot of pebbles but that has more to do with how windy it is out there I think.
Greens: My major complaint. While they rolled smooth and quick they were absurdly firm. As in not being able to hold greens with short irons firm. A real issue at this course since almost all the greens are fronted by bunkers so playing punch/run shots was near impossible.

Like I said I love these courses, and conditions aside, the near 6 hour round is just crazy. I can get that in OC don't need to drive 1.5 hours thanks. Unfortunately cannot recommend the courses at this time.

Played 1-22-18 using a Underpar voucher for $45 which including a second round. Teed off around 7am as a single and finished in a little under 2 hours going through one group on the second hole. Tee boxes were okay with descent coverage and some divot damage on three pars. Fairways were mostly in good shape with a few thin areas but overall had nice lies. Rough was in descent shape, mostly 2-3 inches with some bare spots here and there. Was in one greenside bunker that was a little thin but still okay to hit out of. Greens were semi-soft with medium speed and rolled okay with an occasional bump. Have seen the course in better conditions but it is still fun to play.

Played Thanksgiving at 6:30 am . ahead of the monster turkey skins game at 8. Pin placements in ridiculous spots. Get on in 2 and 4 or 5 putt!! We do this yearly so we know what to expect. The only ... Continue »

Played Thanksgiving at 6:30 am . ahead of the monster turkey skins game at 8. Pin placements in ridiculous spots. Get on in 2 and 4 or 5 putt!! We do this yearly so we know what to expect. The only complain is they removed the ball cleaners throughout both courses. The course is in the best shape I've seen it. Always a great time at tukwet canyon!

Played the Blues (6348/71.3/130) with GDR23 & Matt in 4H, 45M, barely beating darkness using an AD Underpar voucher. Schmidy/Curley design that is a solid, challenging layout. Not an overly tight layout, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing penalty strokes (lost ball bushes & native overgrowth) into play. A couple of risk/reward par 4's that longer hitters can have a go at the green. The tees were a mixed bag. Most of the par 4/5 tees were well maintained and lush. Most of the par 3 tees were in mediocre condition with lots of divots. The fairways were mostly lush and well maintained. The rough was lush and could be penal. When the ball settled down, it was whack a short iron out and get it back in play time. The sand traps were the only part of the course not above average, Lots of rocks in the fairway bunkers. Greenside bunkers had inconsistent depths but were otherwise well maintained. The large green complexes were nicely designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. The poa annua greens putted medium to medium fast speed. Slightly better condition overall than the Legends 18 IMO. This would be a very challenging course to walk, numerous tees were a hike from the last green. The carts have GPS where you can check yardages to bunkers, hazards etc. All grass range and range balls included with the UP deal were a +. The customer service was excellent. Had lunch before the round, both the food and selection were good. Recommended for a fun, decently maintained and challenging layout.

Rode the Blues yesterday afternoon 11/10/2017 at 12:25pm on the second round of a all day play Underpar voucher for $60.00. Joined by my buddies Matt and Nickesquire for a POP of 4 hrs 30 minutes waiting behind multiple groups. The group in front of us had a player swinging and missing on several tee shots and a junior in the cart that was not playing that was rolling down hills, walking in bunkers and not leaving the green areas with her father chasing after her while we were waiting to hit--must have been a holiday--lol. I last played here in 2008 for the GK/PLGA event when the Q-school guys were there that week. I remember the course just like it was then--a very fun and challenging layout. I actually prefer the Legends layout more but this golf course is very similar other than maybe not as many severe doglegs. Still enough teeth on tee shots, undulating greens and rough to keep any skill level honest. The greens were a step up from the Legends course. I rated them a 7.5/10. Rolling very nicely--very few ballmarks, undulating and holding iron approaches nicely. For both courses if you are short sided here the way the green complexes are and the rough is you are really going to be working to save your par's. The fairways were in good to great shape. Would rate them just a step below Legends at an 8/10. Mostly green and lush lies--very few to no problem areas. The tees like the Legends course were semi-lush to lush and mostly all level. Rated 7.5/10 The rough was similar to Legends maybe not as punitive as far as length. Maybe 1.5/2 inches thick, lush and green. Rated 8/10 The bunkers were hard packed and the worst part of the course. Was in the par 5 greenside bunker on #16 in 2 shots --club bounced pretty bad with little to no sand. Rated 6/10. I would recommend the Champions course at this time.

Played Friday April 21, teed off at 10 am, and played both the legend and champion courses. Greens are in exceptional shape. Fairways are much better than the last time I played here. Pace of play was under 4 hours, as a threesome we never really waited. The only negatives is they closed the snack shop early, and the bunkers were really thin on sand. It seems they are rallying on getting the courses in far better condition, and the bunkers are last on the list. Overall, pleased with the courses.

Played both courses at Morongo on 4/17/17 - this review covers both courses.

Still one of my favorite layouts in SoCal, but conditions are a bit worse than I've seen it in a while - but not bad by any means. To get the minor negatives out of the way.....Evidence of heavy play (although not crowded today) is apparent on many tee boxes by lots of divots, and on most greens with an abundance of unrepaired ball marks. Greens are still smooth and moderately quick. Sand traps have good amounts of sand, but it is very clumpy sand in spots, and some traps have quite a few rocks.

Facility is top notch, and staff is nice and helpful. The courses are both generous in size, but have enough bite to keep you challenged.

Always a treat to make it out here.
