Played Champions Course on Labor Day, it wasnt too bad with the heat, frozen G2 Gatorade helped a lot. The course ? I knew that they were getting ready to do maintanence and it really needs some TLC, the fairways are full of green grass but also has way too many dirt patches all over the place, so grooving one down the middle of the fairway was a 50/50 chance of landing on grass or wet dirt. The rough was dead grass for the most part so hit a few shots off the hardpan dirt with utilities and short irons. Greens were slow, I think they watered them heavy to save them from the heat. Bunkers were good, tee boxes also were fine. Hey its drought conditions at so many courses, Bring on El Nino !

Played the blues (6348/71.3/130) with RGM2525 & Brando in 3h, 45m on a very overcast weekday. We all used $43 vouchers for unlimited golf. Played the Champions as the middle 18 out of 54. Played this course several years ago from the blacks in a GK outing when the greens were slick and the rough was high. Much better experience with the rough higher than most courses but still probably 2 inches shorter than last time and the greens medium speed instead of fast. I played about the same and shot 8 strokes better yesterday under more moderate course conditions and moving up a tee. It was certainly a more enjoyable round. Overall, a solid layout in excellent to near immaculate condition except for the par 3 tees. Not an overly tight layout, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing lost ball bushes & native overgrowth into play. The tees were a mixed bag. Most of the par 4/5 tees were well maintained and lush. Most of the par 3 tees were smaller, more humpbacked and generally in mediocre condition with lots of divots. The fairways were lush, very well maintained. The rough was lush, thick & penal. On the few occasions when the ball sat up, it was good to hit off of. When the ball settled down, it was whack a short iron out and get it back in play time. Plenty tall to catch even shorter irons, but not ridiculously high. The thickness was the penal part, not the height. The sand traps were very well maintained. The waste bunkers were hard packed and usually dirt, the ones I was in did not have sand. The green complexes were nicely designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. The large poa annua greens were lightly sanded but it did not really affect play. They putted medium speed, the sign said 9.5 and were firm. With as firm as the greens were, you would have expected them to be faster? While they putted nice, a little faster would have been better. Because of the light sanding, the Legends greens were slightly better yesterday than the Champions greens. The customer service was excellent. Carts have advanced GPS where you can check yardages to bunkers etc. This would be a challenging course to walk. Complimentary range balls and a cart were part of the More Golf Today voucher I purchased several months ago. We got in 54 holes, averaging 3h, 45m per round including time in between to check in, change carts etc. No hassles, everything was great. Both courses were in comparable condition. Highly recommend for a well maintained, challenging layout.

I played here on Friday, May 15, using some online special from Underpar (I think). It was $47 for unlimited play. I arrived at 11:00 a.m. during a moderate, unseasonable rain. The courses were wide open and I played 36 hokes in about 6 hours, catching up and playing with three other guys after about 27 holes. I hit some range balls (included with my coupon) before heading out. Nice gps in the carts with hole flyover and tap for yardage features.This is the greenest golf course that I have played in quite a while. Lush conditions from tee to green. A couple of course personnel were mowing deep rough all over, leaving lots of cut grass everywhere, probably because it was so wet. At least one bunker was being pumped out and many had at least a little standing water in them. I was able to play from three bunkers and despite being saturated, the sand was okay to hit from. The one fairway bunker that I was in was really firm. That helped me make decent contact though. Both the Champions and Legend courses were in similar shape: nicely mowed fairways and primary and secondary cuts in the rough. The deep rough could cover your ball and it was a challenge to make good contact outside the primary cut. It was an enjoyable couple of rounds and for the price I paid, I would make the two hour drive again.

After I finished Legends I went in the pro shop and the guy at the desk got me right out on Champions, also by myself. I didn't catch anyone until the 10th tee, and then after a few holes the guys in front of me disappeared. I took a ton of photos on this course, too, and finished in around 3:15. Total was 7:00 for 36 holes, which was amazing!

Conditions on Champions were very similar to Legends. The course looks great and plays pretty good, too. Greens have not yet been aerated but still aren't super smooth or slick, although they are definitely better than Legends at the moment. They, too, are very firm. Fairways and rough are lush for the most part. Tee boxes good. I didn't see as many puddles in the bunkers on Champions, but the fairway bunkers still seemed to be hard and rocky.

Layout-wise, I agree with the consensus that this is a step down from Legends, but it's still a very good course. I love the risk-reward par-4 third hole, which today was playing up and begging the player to go for the green. The par-5 fourth is also fantastic, with split fairways separated by a hazard and wonderful greenside bunkering. No. 9 is a fun par 5 and I almost made double eagle today, so of course that's a great hole, too. The par-5 11th is a lot of fun and so is the short par-4 13th, another risk-reward hole that can lead to anything from an eagle to a dreaded "other." The 15th is a really pretty par 3 and the 16th follows as a gorgeous par 5. No. 18 is scenic but a little unorthodox as a closing hole in that it takes driver out of your hand unless playing the tips.

All in all, hard to go wrong on either of these beautiful courses, especially with the GroupGolfer price I paid for today's rounds. Pics from today here: http://goo.gl/EgkBVA

it was a beautiful day on Friday the 13th for golf outing with great friends. the conditions of this track was perfect from start to finish. Tee Boxes were lush & leveled. fairways was mowed just like carpet and your tee shot will benefit from it. roughs were usual 1-3", thick and sticky. it will punish you so don't get in there. aprons were nicely kept as well. greens were smooth and rolled very well. it was medium to fast pace. the only inconsistency were the traps. maybe due to hot weather, wind and sprinklers made them some fluffy and some hard packed. the wind picked later in the day so it added some challenges to an already hard game. overall, we enjoyed it alot and it was a great time. definitely coming back here soon

apologize for the fact that this review is very much like Legends as we played both courses on the same day. the conditions were about the same in my opinion

Played 6/17 with the Tukwet Women's Golf Club. I usually prefer Legends so was interested in seeing what Champions has been up to lately. The course was in excellent condition!! The fairways are gorgeous and the greens superb and quick. The forward tees were level and lush. Can't speak to the sand as I wasn't in it but it looked rather wet. The rough was punishing! Heavy, thick, wet- everything rough is supposed to be! Stay out of it and it's not a problem. Try to get out of it and good luck. Saw multiple marshals on the course making sure things were moving along. Cart girl was also out several times - decent for a Tuesday morning! I had a great time playing with good company on a fine course!

Played 6-17-14. The course is in great shape. Fairways lush and green. Rough is just that, rough and punishing. Keep your ball in the fairway or you will pay the price. In some cases the ball disappeared from sight it was so deep. Bunkers were wet and hard packed but that was the only negative i could find. This course is an 8.5 t0 9 right now so get out and play it if you have the chance.

Overall very similar conditions – terrific fairways, thick, sticky rough, tee boxes fine, sand was mostly bad – although later in the day the greens did seem a little more beat-up than Legends did earlier. Layout-wise, I think I preferred Legends, but Champions is also a really nice, fun track. I loved the two risk/reward short par 4s, even though the second one doomed my best round in months (years?).

I mentioned the service issue in the review of Legends, but I will detail that at the end of this review so you can choose to ignore it if you are not interested. As for the key measurables of the course itself, I don't have a bad thing to say about it other than the bunkers needing some help. The conditions and impression of the course layout are the same as what I described in the Legends review, so I'll just copy and paste below... The course was in excellent condition, with the exception of the bunkers. Both courses were. I was very impressed. Fairways had some soggy areas and a few shaggy spots, but the lies were always perfect. The rough was thick and definitely made you work to hit good shots. The greens were a tad firm, but rolling smooth and true at medium speeds. The bunkers, as mentioned, were a mixed bag. I found everything from hard-packed mud to soft mud to thin sand to decent sand. Overall, that's the only area that needs improvement. As for the service, we had a bit of a run-in in between rounds. I apologize for being even more long-winded than normal, but it was a frustrating experience worth sharing. We had purchased the GroupGolfer deal for unlimited play at $39. We were able to book a 10:00 tee time and then the second round is not supposed to be booked until the first round is finished. When we called to book the time earlier in the week, we clearly asked to make sure there'd be no issues getting off on Champions for the replay round. "No problem," they said. Tee sheet would be pretty wide open. When we checked in for the first round, the pro shop guy said "no problem, just check back in after you finish the first round and we'll get you right back out." When we went to check back in around 2:00, that same guy said "Sorry, we won't be able to get you out. Champions is closing at 2:30 and Legends already closed at 12:00. We're setting up for a big charity tournament tomorrow." Two other groups came in right at the same time, having played Champions in the morning and now looking to play Legends under the same expectations we had. He told them the bad news and there was a lot of unhappy golfers grumbling in the pro shop. Finally, a manager-type guy came in and gave us all a bit of attitude, basically saying "tough s#!+." He ultimately agreed to give us a comp round to come back another day. It was a reasonable gesture, but I was the one that had to suggest it rather forcefully. Otherwise, I don't think he would have offered anything as compensation. As we were giving them our names and info for that, he then suddenly changed his mind and said they'd try to squeeze everyone out on Champions before 2:30. It was a bit of a mad dash to the tee box and all the groups were bunched together all round, so the pace was a little slow. We ended up finishing in about 4.5 hours, though, so it turned out just fine. However, what irked us even more is that when we were playing the 9th hole (a little after 4pm by then), there were groups playing the first and second holes on Champions! So I don't know what they were talking about with the closure at 2:30. Ultimately things worked out just fine and it's probably a "you had to be there" experience to describe the frustration. Just kind of a stain on what was otherwise a perfect day and an amazing deal to play two excellent courses in great condition.
