Historically the Champions Course aerates their greens in April and the Legends Course aerates their greens in May. Connecting to the proshop for exact dates has been an extremely frustrating experience at many times of the day. We'll continue to make attempts. More information to come.

Tukwet Canyon is becoming one of my favorite tracks. The layout for the Champions course is great. I didn't have a bad lie when I was in the fairway the entire day. I really enjoyed my round.

Played the champion's on Thursday 2/28, got the itch to play a course I have not played before, after reading("Where to play-Inland Empire?", GK forum 2/13). Sbogey, my GK cup opponent, recommended this course for Thursday, Morongo customer appreciation day. So I try to round up a group.

Me- To: Fader(78 YO) "Wan'a play Champions today?"
him, "No"
"It's $25, how can you pass that up?"
"I'm not going to drive 50 miles to play a course, in wind, that I don't like."
"Accuweather say's 7-12 MPH, let's go!"
"No, but I'll play San Dimas."
"Again!!?, Noooo."

Everybody else is busy and I force the wifey to go with me.
Front desk is friendly and offer's up a couple of free buckets of balls.
Range was nice, even had a few patches of grass to hit off of as opposed to some other ranges that typpically are all chewed up and lumpy.
Practice putting was a decent indication of what was to come, unfortunately.
T's, fairways, and rough were all in good condition.
Accuweather lied to me again, about the wind. I would say sustained 12-18MPH.
Green's were tough as nails here, many were multiteared, false front's, sides, and undulating, very challenging. Now I suck at desert putting and this was my first time here and difficult to read, but the greens sucked condition wise. Razor cut?(thin lines, about inch and half long, cut in the greens, for aeration?) prefered over punched, but still has to effect the putts a little. No? But that was not the big problem, uneven growth was. Dormant grass begining to grow faster than the winter grass? Don't know what exactly this is, but definately effected putts or I just suck. However, I think most players would be disappointed with the greens right now.
Bunkers were playing difficult, almost impossible to play out of. About 6 inches of fresh soft recently added sand. I didn't get in the traps until the back and thought the pair of young guns blew out of the sand, until I got in them and discovered a fried egg at best with a small birm of sand behind the ball, about 10 feet from a 8ft tall wall! impossible! for me at least. A pro would probably be happy just to get out! Another greenside trap was much easier, still deep sand, but about 2ft wall and a descent lie.
Round was about 5 hours on a very busy course, and despite my gripes here the layout was great, I want to beat it, and well worth the green fee.

Played Tukwet-Champions on Saturday 2/2. Tee time of 9:22, on time maybe even a couple minutes early. Course is in the best condition of any course we've played this winter. Green and lush everywhere and nary a brown spot other than the native areas. Customer Service/Facilities- Check in went smooth and gentleman behind the counter was friendly as was the very gregarious and helpful starter. Beautiful all grass range and ample short game areas. Pro shop, restaurant, bar, and snack are all very nice and well stocked. Tees- Flat, level, and lush. No complaints whatsoever Fairways- Green, lush, and provided excellent lies all day with the exception of portions of #18 but that was due to coot damage (hate those things!) Rough- I have a love/hate relationship with the rough at both Tukwet courses. I love how thick and penal it is as it should be everywhere. Consistent 3-4" throughout and no bare spots. But I hate how thick and brutal it is lol. I don't what kind of grass they have here but man that stuff is sticky and will eat your club if you're not spot on. Well defined between fairways and rough. Bunkers- White fluffy sand throughout and plenty of it. Greens- Firm but held well struck shots. Medium pace and lots of undulations. Be sure to be on the correct level or else pay the price. Misc- POP was the only complaint today. The Legends course was closed due to a large tourney so everyone else was funneled onto the Champions course today. 5.5 hours was painful and especially when one group was 3 holes behind. To their credit the marshalls tried their best to speed up play but alas sometimes you have the group that are all 40 plus handicaps or worse and what are you gonna do? Still beats work right? Design of the course is excellent. No 2 holes are alike and I believe only a couple holes run next to each other. Very windy today. Constant 20-25mph out the east so holes 1-5 played downwind. 6-13 were brutal today. Into the wind and most approaches are to elevated greens adding to the challenge. 14-18 turn back around and were downwind today. Overall a great golf facility and will back again. Get out there and play now! Last thing, we used the Underpar voucher which is the best deal that I've seen in a long time. $89 for 2 players, sleeve of Pro V1's for each, $10 food credit per person, and free replay (unfortunately we didn't take advantage of that).
