Played as a threesome on Memorial Day 5/28 at 8am. Was lucky enough to get out before the masses. Pace of play was spectacular and we finished in under 4 hours. The course was in great condition.
Tee box: For the most part, nice and level. Some of the par 3 had tons of divots. Overall good.
Fairways: Had a tad more divots than 2 wks ago. Still in great condition though.
Rough: Great condition and didn't eat the ball up.
Greens: For the most part smooth. A few unrepaired divot marks here and there. The speed was average. Ball had a tough time sticking to the greens.
Sands: Great condition.

Overall a great day of golf.

I just had the pleasure of playing Front 9 of Champions and Front 9 of Legends on 5/16 as a twosome. First, I would like to definitely give props to management for bringing this golf course to where it is today. I played about 1 year ago, when the new management was in its early stages...and the courses were horrible. Weeds throughout, bunkers sucked, and the greens were compromised. It has definitely come a long ways. To preface, we started out on Champions course, but the back 9 looked back kind of backed up (it wasn't that bad but we were impatient) so we jumped on Legends front 9. Champions was in a lot better shape (bunkers have fresh new sand), but overall, the course was great. Twilight for around $30 can not be beat.
Service: I did see a cart boy out in the parking lot, but I ended up carrying my own bags. Everyone seemed friendly enough. My only gripe would be that they use to offer free range balls with your round, now you have to buy it. However, their practice facilities are really nice. Grass range with lots of flag pins. Big chipping area. And two large putting greens.
Tee box: Mostly nice and level.
Fairway: Best shape in a long time. Champions course was a tad nicer and lusher...still some brown spots here and there, but not bad at all
Rough: maybe 2.5 to 3 inches, and mostly uniform
Greens: supposedly aerated about 4-6 weeks ago. Legends was first, but got sanded today. Still rolling well and not terribly bumpy at all. Champions was in a tad better shape.
Bunkers: Champions got fresh sand in most of their bunkers and it was nice to hit out of. I was in 1 bunker on Legends and it was rock hard. Per Maintenance workers, they will be addressing Legends' bunkers soon.

All in all, a great round and value. Will definitely come back and reintroduce it into my rotation (Oak Quarry, Oak Valley, and Soboba)...

Practice Rnd 3/31/12: Pace for 18 holes was 3 hours

Qualifying Rnd 4/2/12: Pace for the first 9 holes was 3 1/4 hours! Our back 9 holes pace was just under 2 1/2 hours. TWO many rulings from the players in front of us which all started on HOLE #2 and continued slow play throughout the entire round!

I plan to play this course very soon since it's NOT a tournament round.

Current conditions of the bunkers? Can I even call them a "condition"?
PAPER THIN, NO $AND @ all! A person would think your holding a PGA tour sanctioned QUALIFYING event on the CHAMPIONS layout, something would have been done to @ least improve the conditions of the bunkers!

Greens: It's like POA Annua has gone crazy! It's all you will see...Putts very slow going back uphill, slower than you would think, slower than normal. Downhill putts are faster but NOT as fast..overall speed of the greens were SLOW to medium. Very undulating contours, the SCPGA could put the hole locations anywhere and still have tough breaking putts.

Practice facility: Very nice area to practice chipping/pitching, BUNKERS are just like the course PAPER THIN. :( Practice range are grass turf, no mats. TWO large putting greens as well with undulating contours similar to the greens out on the course you'll face.

Clubhouse: Super Nice! Very Spacious and overlooks the 18th green & 10th tee box on the Champions layout.

Pro Shop: Wasn't overly impressed with the staff behind the counter checking in players etc...The girls need to improve cust svc skills in my opinion. Cart barn staff very helpful...

Course? Very nice layout with some elevation changes. Plenty of RISK/reward holes IF you have the firepower to go for it in two including the PAR 4's. Overall course is challenging, multiple tees available but playable for all skill levels.

Fairways: very good conditions right now, you won't be disappointed!

My ONLY major gripe are the CONDITION'$ or LACK of $AND in the bunker$!!!! I'd rather take an unplayable lie vs trying to play from paper thin texture...Better bring an "ALL TERRAIN" wedge IF you decide to play from the bunkers....

Btw, a current #1 Rolex player use to practice and play out of this golf club.

played here 2 wks. ago after playing Legends 2 wks. prior. Courses are fairly similar, we played w/ a couple from Canada, run into Canadians fairly regularly around here and in PS. Champions is a tale of 2 9's, front fairly wide open but still w/ lots of natural vegetation to keep it interesting. The back however looks inticing but is much tighter and seems more exposed to the prevaling winds and has more forced carries and elevation change. Tee boxes are very good as are the fairways, sand traps well you all know the story on those out here, our playing partners asked for some local advice I said stay out of the bunkers. Yea the look hard as a rock, no I said there hard w/ rocks. Greens were solid but a lot of Poa is spotting in making them inconsistent, after the aeration scheduled this month course should be solid tee to green. Combination of quality conditions, very competitive price,we paid $34 on a friday, exciting layout, nary a boring hole found out here, first class facilities, Hard to beat, highly recommend!

Doesn't look like the new owner is putting any money into it yet. Still OK but not as pristine as when it first opened

Played the champions course for the first time with a foursome. It was busy but check in went smoothly and range balls were included with the green fee. The practice facilities are top notch.

Played the champions course for the first time with a foursome. It was busy but check in went smoothly and range balls were included with the green fee. The practice facilities are top notch.

Starter was pleasant and got us out 15 minutes early. This track is very challenging; especially the back nine, but I liked the variety in the design. A few short risk/reward holes, lots of elevation changes, and greens are usually well protected by traps and/or water. With the exception of a couple of short par 3's, this track makes you think on every shot and can be punishing.

The course was overall in good shape BUT the greens were painfully SLOWWWWW. I don't know if this is the norm or if they are prepping for aeration but this would be a deal killer if they are always this slow.

With the exception of the slow greens, everything else was great and my 4some had a good time. The cart girl came around 4-5 times and we had a good lunch in the clubhouse...they even have a few good beers on draft!

I played 6-13. I enjoyed the course. Many of the holes had real character. There was a nice blend of long and short holes, a lot of risk reward holes. The course was in great shape and I couldn't beat... Continue »

Greens, fairways, rough, etc. The only complaint I have is the bunkers have a lot of rocks in them and aside from the fear of catching it between the ball and face of the club, it presents to real concerns as to nicks on the clubs. Hadn't played this course for a number of years. Did not remember it all that well, but I found I enjoyed it more than the Legends course. I little friendlier to my game!

Played on 4/16. I disagree with the last review. The bunkers have always been bad and still are. Other than that the course was in good shape. Greens were a bit slow but in good condition.
