Played here on a Friday afternoon. $32 for a course of this level is a great deal. This is such a complex and challenging course and I like making the drive out here once in a while because it's really good for my game to play testy, irritating courses like Tukwet once in a while. The fairways, while not overly wide have enough room to put your ball into if you're a reasonably straight driver. It's around the greens where the challenge lies here. At least half a dozen times I hit "perfect" approach shots I thought were going to result in kick in birdies, more often than not the ball jumped off the very firm putting surface like off a trampoline and bounded 10 yards over the green or into a bunker. Well struck pitches and bunker shots as well, run much farther than anticipated. The unpredictable slopes around the greens and rough take away the run up shot as an option as well. Tukwet is just a poster child for the type of modern golf course that requires impeccable maintenance in order to be played the way it was designed but a few years down the road-they just cant quite keep up. Another pet peeve are the deep greenside bunkers full of little rocks. Oh, and no scorecards today...really? I'm sorry-I may be coming across badly with this review, but its frustrating to have a great ball striking day foiled by course conditions. It's not all bad-greens putt relatively smoothly and the fairways are in great shape after the recent rains. The service at the bar and from the cart barn is a bit surly, but the girl with the beverage cart is friendly. Green beer on sale, yay!

Played here on 3-13-2017 with 24 others in a fun outing. The weather was perfect, the greens were great and so were the tee boxes with level lies and few divots and ball marks. The fairways were green and semi-lush but watch out when you miss one. It took our group well over 5.5 hours to finish and everyone said the same thing......If you miss the fairway or green you almost had to step on your ball to find it. Not fun and definitely not good for fast play. I heard they have a women's tournament coming so maybe they are growing the rough long and plan to cut it just before the tournaments starts but leaving like it is surely makes for a long day. I highly recommend both courses here but you might want to wait until they trim that 5" stuff or plan on a long frustrating round of hide and seek.

Played 11-1-16. Played early morning and the greens were sandy and wet. Not a good combination. Once they started drying they played better. Greens held OK and fairways were lush and green. The rough was at 5 inches deep and you could lose the ball 3 feet from you. Also very tough to get out of. Makes finding fairways critical. Bunkers were firm but had some give so played pretty well. All in all in really good shape and worth checking out.

Played 10-31-16 in between my two Legends rounds as a single on the front side and joining a twosome on the back and finishing in about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Tee boxes were in good shape,a few were a little thin and some were a little un-level but nothing major. Fairways were very nice and lush, but playing soft. Rough was between 2-4 inches and in some spots when the ball sits down it is difficult to find. Was in a few bunkers that were a little inconsistent in sand depth with one being very firm and thin and the other very soft. Greens had a light top dressing on them, but it really didn't effect putting that much, maybe just a little inconsistent in speed.

After finishing the legends course in 3 hrs we went out about 30 minuets later to play the Champions. Thankfully the wind had died down and was about 5-10 mph with the occasional gust to 20mph. Bad news was a thunder storm was brewing. over big bear and was heading our way. Luckily it did not get to us until it started to lighting rain on the 18th green about a POP of 3 hrs. Course was in just as good shape as legends except the sand was a little worse. not sure what is going on there but hopefully they do something soon. This course can be a little more forgiving and requires less than drive on quite a few holes. Unlike legends the champions course goes through the houses so you dont get the seclusion of being in the middle of nowhere. It is a different course so if you buy the golf moose for a round plus replay I Suggest playing champions first then legends so its not a let down on the second round but still a fun track.

Played 4-14-16 early morning as a single and then joining another single for a second round finishing both rounds by 1 o'clock. Tee boxes were in good shape lush and level except for a couple of the three pars which need leveling. Fairways were mostly lush with a few thin spots and some small bare areas. The rough was brutal, long, thick and nasty. I loved it. Bunkers were on the thin side but still okay to hit from. Greens have completely healed from punching, they were soft and a little slow but rolling true. Great 36 hole facility with great customer service from check in to cart barn to starters.

Have been playing at Tukwet often of late, most recently 1/23 Saturday afternoon twosome on The Champions with my 9 year old daughter, best ball of course. The staff is exceptional as a whole, pro shop desk guys always eager to accommodate golfing related requests and preferences. When you purchase your range balls, you pass the attendant your receipt, he passes you a bucket of balls, no coins, no codes,no loud machine, just customer service.

The range is all grass. Two very large putting green complexes, both multi level with not so subtle contours throughout. The chipping area is great, many different shots to practice through its design. Now on to the current conditions of the course Saturday afternoon...

Tee boxes are all fairly level, and because the box has seemingly become more narrow ,and moved more frequently, divots weren't excessive, even on par 3's. I would have to add that they are not as lush as I'd prefer, but not thin enough to complain about, in all honesty.

Fairways are lush in prime spots, perhaps a few spots throughout the course subjected to overwatering that should be GUR. One or two small yellowish/brown areas may dot a few fairways here and there, but no hardpan areas.

Rough is not nearly as penal as in years past, but if you go too far off line you will be taking penalty strokes. No parallel holes here. I would say the rough is 2-3 inches, sometimes a bit difficult to locate ball. Lush near the fairways and canyon terrain over the cart path and OB.

Bunkers can be a strategic mixed bag, most with plenty coverage, a couple hardpan fairway bunkers on a couple par 5's if I remember correctly. Pretty good condition for the rain we've had the previous week.

Unfortunately many patrons who frequent this place don't bother with fixing divots. But because Tukwet is so exceptional in so many facets, this becomes a minor inconvenience. The greens here are littered with unrepaired ball marks, despite the signs imploring golfers to do so, go figure. I fix mine, two other bad ones and move on.

Every time I play a round at Tukwet, it is an enjoyable overall experience, and for $55 its a bargain, IMO. The amenities this facility provides for practice along with the ambience and beauty of the clubhouse could very well supplant OQ as my favorite.

I played yesterday 12/23 on the Champions and teed off about 8:45. Check-in was great, staff was helpful and offered to let us go early if we warmed up quickly. Played the first two holes in fog before it lifted. The course was greener than I though it would be during winter, but most holes had brown dormant patches scattered around. Rough was growing out and was again thicker than I thought it would be. Greens were slow to medium speed and many had pitch marks. My group did our best to fix as many as we saw. I was in two greenside bunkers which were hard-packed after the recent rain and impossible to hit from. The one fairway bunker I hit was also hard-packed and easy to hit from. Many bunkers had standing water in them as well. The tee boxes were hit and miss. The par 4s & 5s were pretty good, but every par 3 tee was mounded and full of divots and sand. Not impressive. Overall, I'd wait to return until springtime or early summer and hope for better conditions.

Played the Blues (6348/71.3/130) with RGM2525 & Vinny in 4H, 15M on a cold, breezy weekday afternoon using an Underpar AD voucher. Solid layout in decent winter condition. A couple of risk/reward par 4's that longer hitters can have a go at the green. The tees were a mixed bag. Most of the par 4/5 tees were well maintained and winter thin. Most of the par 3 tees were in mediocre condition with lots of divots. The fairways were winter thin and well maintained. The rough was winter thin but could be penal. When the ball settled down, it was whack a short iron out and get it back in play time. It looked like they were removing rough and starting a turf reduction project on at least a couple of holes. The sand traps were well maintained with nice sand. The waste bunkers were hard packed. The large green complexes were nicely designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. The poa annua greens had way too many ball marks, were firm and putted medium to medium slow speed. This would be a very challenging course to walk, numerous tees were a hike from the last green. Not an overly tight layout, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing penalty strokes (lost ball bushes & native overgrowth) into play. The carts have advanced GPS where you can check yardages to bunkers, hazards etc. The customer service was excellent. Complimentary range balls and a cart were part of the Underpar voucher I purchased several months ago. Had breakfast before the round, both the food and selection was good. The Champions 18 was not in as good of condition as it's sister Legends course was today. Still recommended for a fun, decently maintained and challenging layout.
