Played on thursday 9/23 They have started punching some greens, four at this time. The course is a little rough with many bare areas in the fairways and rough, bunkers are hard, the greens are nice but slower than usual because of excessive watering.

Played 9/18. Just like Chino Creek, really soft greens, rugged fairways. The greens are spongy and for the most part the fairways are OK, but there are quite a few bare spots. The cost/quality is OK because the green fees are relatively low.

Course is in good shape except the bunkers are hard packed dirt. I did try something out when I was in 2 of the greenside bunkers and that is to just putt the ball. Was able to save par both times as ... Continue »

Course is in good shape except the bunkers are hard packed dirt. I did try something out when I was in 2 of the greenside bunkers and that is to just putt the ball. Was able to save par both times as they have no rough edges on the bunkers and the ball just rolls out. This also worked out well at Indian Hills

Itslikeimsayin's review for the Chino Creek course applies to Butterfield Stage as well. Walked on as a single at 7:40 am on a Saturday (8/21/10) and joined a twosome on the 1st tee by 8:00. Finished in under 4:15. Perfect pace of play. This is a good place for weekend "value" golf. $36 to walk in the morning and they have great deals including cart in the pm when it gets hot. It was not crowded at all. The course is in pretty good shape for what it is. It is very lush all around. Greens are consistent but very soft and a little on the slow side. They putt just fine once you get used to it and hold any kind of approach shot. As previous reviewers stated, the rough is a little thick but I enjoyed this challenge because this course needs it. It is a very easy layout otherwise. The bunkers did look thin like others have said, but most are set well off the greens. You shouldn't find too many of them unless you are really spraying it. Also, the cow smell that this location is known for was much less potent than my last trip here 2 years ago. It's really not bad at all. Recommend this course for a quick, cheap weekend round where you can make some birdies - if those attributes appeal to you.

Played on 6-22-2010 9am. Great value for the $28 green fee(cart included). Course is very green. Fairways, Rough, and Greens are kept a little longer than the average coure. Drives will get less roll in the fairway, but tend to sit up in the rough. Greens definitely play slower so adjust your stroke accordingly. None of this is a true negetive because the conditions are good, just different. The only true negetive: AND IT'S A BIG ONE; is 90% of the sands traps should be roped off as Ground under repair. Hopefully the greenskeepers from the course read these critiques.

get out here and play. Course is nice and green and lush. Only negative is hard pan bunkers and bring a tall tee as the tee boxes are lush and long. You won't be disappointed.

Played on 6/3/10, with noon tee time. First time at course. Went right to the first tee with no wait. Starters offered great service. Level tee boxes, green and lush fairways but very hard sand bunkers. The greens were in great shape and rolled true. They were faster than we thought. A lot of flys and cow smells. Fairly windy day and without many tall trees my distance was very short, the wind killed most of my drives. Other than the flys I enjoyed the course. Well worth the great $28 deal.

I agree with the previous posts, the course is in the best condition I have ever seen it in! That said, while the greens were very nice, they were much slower and softer than I can remember them being. ( I prefer faster greens) Just could not get the ball to the hole, but all the approach shots stopped immediately. Kudo to the maintainence staff for the vast improvement in condition!
