Played Butterfield 9/21 & 23/08 in the AM. Sunday crowd way down because of Ryder Cup? Round only lasted 3hrs 50 mins. Course in good shape while getting ready for overseeding. Really liked the lake area and cart path improvements at the 8-9 holes.

i played this course for the first time today. If you have never played here, let me give you 1 word of advice, bring a bottle of bug spray. There are more flies at this course than anywhere else i've ever played. The course is not very difficult. The layout is cool. The fairways were not very good. some spots have very long rough that can hide balls. you have to look HARD to find your ball at times. The bunkers were overall bad. They are so hard and rocky and hard packed, its laughable. we tried to play like regular chip shots off the hard "sand" and couldnt help but skull the ball 15 yards past. Once you get on the green its a whole different story, good greens. There are some ball marks, but not many. They roll smooth and true. When you are putting downhill, you still have to hit it. I wouldnt say the greens were slow, but the downhill putts didn't seem to run as much as they appeared to. If you are looking to try a new course and live nearby I might give this a whirl, but as for me, once was enough.

Played 5/30 Quick round 3.5 hrs started at 2:00pm. First time out on this course. Better than expected conditions. Fairways are very nice. Rough is punishing, very thick grass that likes to hold on... Continue »

Played 5/30 Quick round 3.5 hrs started at 2:00pm. First time out on this course. Better than expected conditions. Fairways are very nice. Rough is punishing, very thick grass that likes to hold onto your club. I was not privy to any bunkers but they looked quite barren of sand. The greens were spongy and too slow, and a little bumpy. Worse on the first nine holes. Overall not too bad though. This course is not that hard, although all of the par fives except the 18th are against the wind and they all have a lake next to the green. Tough to go for in two.
There is a water plant nearby that puts off a bad odor. Other than that this is a good course for windy condition practice and not a bad track. Twenty four bucks to walk on a Friday not too shabby.

the only real complaint i have about this course is the bunkers...they are hard packed and filled with little pebbles

as for the course itself, it is a straight up course...nothing too special about it...none of the holes are terribly memorable, either

Overall Butterfield course is in great shape. The greens are a little bumpy and slow from the recent punching but still playable and should be perfect in a week or two. The rough is long and punishing so keep em in the short grass. The bunkers could use a little work, but not that bad.

Played the Butterfield course on 27April08 tee time with my group, of course its a tournament.,, well I agree about there is no cart girl driving around, that day was so hot and windy probably the wind goin 40mph but it died down at the 7th hole. They need somebody driving a water truck out there when its summer. I emptied about 10 plastic bottle of water and went to the bathroom twice. The flies situation is barely noticeable but watch out for the birds, they will be looking for some foods. Anyway, its a beautiful course and if you like the background of machine guns you goin to like it......
