Ah, my glorious return to golf. Ha! Not so much. But I did have a great time today at Los Serranos. 1:00 tee time, $46 through GN, got out on time but we were two groups behind a large tournament. Pace was a little over 5 hours, finished 18 right as it got dark.

Considering the drought, conditions were pretty spectacular. They had just seeded the tee boxes so they were spotty, but lies were mostly level. The fairways were a surprise, very few burnt/dry spots, mostly green, lush, and tight. The rough was a bit spotty. Bunkers were a bit solid for my liking, no real loose top layer. The greens were great! They looked bumpy in the afternoon but rolled quite smoothly and lines were true. The new greenskeeper there is to be praised.

Overall a great price for a fun, challenging course. Just try not to book behind a tourney!

Played Fri Aug 22nd. I must say that the pro shop should really have a better attitude when signing up the golfers. The woman we had yesterday for the north course had absolutely no personality. If you send a golfer out with a smile they will be in a better mood and have a better experience. That being said, the course was in good shape, tee boxes, fairways, and greens were good. POP was right at 4 hours. Realy needs to work on the personality of their check in personal.

Played the North Course on a Friday afternoon after playing the South in the AM. The layout of the North is similar as it has a mostly 'what you see is what you get' type style, but enjoyed the South much more, honestly. The North Course has a few more rough spots and fairways are not in quite as nice condition. Not a knock against the North, really, just my preference. Greens were about the same, albeit a few more bumps due to the later tee time. Some fairways were ultra firm and a well struck driver could roll a whole bunch, but this also led to a few tight lies ... something to consider when you're trying to pick a landing area for your next shot. I'd play it again for sure, but would prefer the South if I'm driving an hour to get here. Still recommended.

Bradleycoop and I played our GK Cup match here this afternoon. We had a 12:08 tee time booked directly through the course for $46 a player with cart. I had a $35 gift card that I won at Johnny & Zeb's "Social Golf Course" book launch event out there, so we split the difference and it was a nice $28.50 each. We were paired with another single. We were behind a foursome all day and had to wait a little on most shots, but still cannot complain with a great 4:10 pace overall on a weekend here!

The course was in solid overall shape, highlighted by the exceptional greens. The greens were gorgeous and played as nicely as they looked. Some of the nicest greens I've seen in awhile. Tee boxes mostly good. Fairways a bit mixed with some being better than others. Some areas were quite firm and thin and others had fluffier lies. Rough a mixed bag. Bunkers just OK. I was in a couple of greenside ones and they had different consistencies. I was also in one fairway bunker that was extra firm, but that's what I prefer for those.

Though I've played South numerous times over the years, I think I've only played the North once and it was many years ago. I definitely like South more, but North is still an enjoyable layout with a good variety of holes and challenges to offer. It's definitely one worth being in the rotation when you can get a good price.

Played LS North this morning and it is playing great. POP policy is really helping here. POP was a little over four hours. Tees, fairways, greens and traps were in good shape. Rough was a little spotty in different areas. Greens are firm, had no divot damage and were rolling medium fast.

Played last Thursday, 4/24. Every once in a while the golf god's smile on you. The north course must have had a tournament cancel, because they're was no one in front or behind until the 16th hole, good for me, bad for Los Serranos.
Greens no sign of aeration, soft and receptive, yet rolled at a med-fast speed.
T's, fairways and sand were all in very good shape.
Met one of the owner's sons, David, genuinely nice guy, enjoyed talking with him.
Pace of play was excellent, made me giddy, was like a country club on this usually busy course.

Played here on this past Friday morning at 7am. It was Good Friday so probably a bit busier than normal. Tried checking in early but was asked to wait until they called my name. Ended up checking in and paying at 7:00 for a 7:08 tee time so I thought we would start late but we ended up teeing off right at 7:08am.

Conditions were pretty good from tee to green. Tee boxes were level and in pretty decent shape. Fairways were fine, and greens were healing nicely from aerification a few weeks ago. Only went into 1 bunker and it was ok... could've used a bit more sand but not too bad.

Best part of this round, besides, shooting the best score of my life (81), was the pace of play. Although it wasn't the fastest round I've played, we were on a 4 hour pace up until the last few holes. Ended up finishing in 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Our group got asked to pick up the pace once around the 7th hole. We had a really fast 3 some ahead of us who we didn't see after the front 9, and a pretty quick 4-some behind us that I noticed waited a few shots. Our group was me, another single, and a 2 some. We weren't the quickest group but we still kept a decent pace.

Although the warning was a bit unnecessary (imo), it was nice to see that the course marshalls were serious about enforcing the 4hour pop policy.

I will definitely return here as long as the pop policy continues to be enforced.

Played today 4/15 - things have really improved from my last time out here. The course is really coming around now that it's getting lots of TLC. Tee boxes were fairly level with a few divots but not bad, the fairways were greening up, some areas are still dormant and have not fully greened up, ball rolled nicely. Rough was deep in spots but not punishing. The bunkers are still a problem. The greens were lush, varied a little on speed. Most were receptive others rolled quick. Just a couple ball marks here and there from groups ahead of us.

POP was great 4 hrs, could have been 3hr 50min but front group was a bit on slow side, marshal told us he had asked them to pick up the pace. Marshal came around at least 4 times so new POP policy will be enforced.

Keep it in the short stuff!
