Played 2/11/15 with a friend, early morning start. Beautiful weather, almost no wind, couldn't ask for better. I kinda like the layout, not overly challenging but enough to keep you honest and (other than # 5) no quirky holes.

I've played here several times before and the conditions were actually better than I expected. Fairways were patching in a lot of places, but not unusually so for this time of year. Rough was cut down in most places and didn't create much additional challenge. Tees were (mostly) smooth and level, the ones that weren't you could still find a place to tee-off if you were willing to move back about a yard - par 3's had divot damage but reasonable.

Overall, the greens were quite good. Couple had spots needing work and one looked like someone had been practicing their chipping from off the green (?!?). Medium-fast speed, rolled well and would hold well-hit approach shots.

Bunkers were ok, lots of pebbles which can cause issues but the overall depth of sand and consistency were decent.

No beverage cart but service inside was quick and pleasant.

We got this through a "Teeoff.com" special rate so it was definitely worth it. Since it's in equal condition to a lot of courses this time of year (and charging less than several of those) I'd be happy to play here again in the next couple months.

Played 12/23/15 and had a 09:49 tee time. First of all let me say how great it is to be in So Cal and playing golf 2 days before Christmas.
The course seemed a little greener than most of the courses I've played lately. The tee boxes were in decent shape with the exception of the par 3's which is normal. The greens have a lot of undulation to them but since they were running a bit slower, it didn't seem to effect the break as much as you would think (BTW they were super smooth with only a couple UN-repaired ball marks that I really had to search for).
I did find a couple of fairway and greenside bunkers and they were firm with plenty of sand (no breakfast balls). The disappointing thing was there seemed to be shortage of rakes. The fairway bunkers had maybe 1 rake for a huge trap (if any) and the greenside bunkers had maybe 1 rake for every 2-3 bunkers.
As it had been a while since I had played out here, the club house trailer is gone and replaced with a really nice bar/restaurant/clubhouse.
Yucaipa Valley is really a fun track that has been off my radar for a while and I will definitely be back sooner than later.

Played Saturday 8/15 as part of my league on a 7:30 shotgun.

Oh Yucaipa, what to do with you. Every time I come here I underwhelmed for some reason or another. Tee boxes and fairways were playing firm with the tees showing some wear and tear and the fairways being on the patchy/thin side. I saw a fair share of areas marked as GUR either due to having no grass (short right of #5 green comes to mind) or being mushy (short of #16 green). Overall rough was pretty good. Some areas haven't seen a mower blade in a while so those were fun. Fairway rough was a consistent length and not too penal. Bunkers exceeded my expectations. Solid coverage, just too many pebbles. Greens were on the long side to protect from the heat, but rolled pretty well outside the ball marks. A few had burned out patches.

The tournament dragged the POP down but that's the league's problem, not the course. Cart girl came around several times on this hot day.

Not a destination course by any means but a decent local option if you live in the area and find deals in the $20-35 range.

Played 6-7-15. Course has come a long way. Still some chewed up areas n the fairways but most were very playable. Bunkers were a bit nicer with a bit more sand but still lots of pebbles. Greens held wonderfully and rolled very nice. It still needs some work but I am excited to see the improvement. The new clubhouse was a bit of a disappointment. Much smaller than expected with one very small counter for golf right next to the bar. I will look forward to playing again in the near future.

On Saturday 5/23 I joined a couple friends to play my first ever round at this course. Check in was easy, and I was given a $38 rate based on my friend's booking through GN. Warmed up on the range, hitting off mats. We played as a threesome, getting out just ahead of a tournament, teeing off right on time at 7:40AM. My friends rode, while I walked. Course is walkable, but there are some long marches between some greens and tees, such as 4 to 5, 6 to 7, 9 to 10 and 14 to 15. We finished under 4.5 hours, keeping pace with the twosome ahead of us. Weather was cool and damp, with occasional light rain falling, and moderate breezes. Beverage cart service came around twice on the back nine.

I found the course to be visually appealing, except for the foot golf pins along the sides of many fairways on front nine - those were distracting. We played from blue tees (6446 yards/70.8 course rating/125 slope). Most of the greens sloped from back to front, and the green complexes were quite large, so there were big targets.

Tee boxes all seemed a little worn, with patchy turf, lots of divots, and in some cases very uneven surfaces - try to find the flat spot on the back of a turtle.

Fairways varied from lush, perfect turf to hard bare areas, with some muddy spots as well. Many fairways had areas marked as ground under repair. There were tons of divots left without repair, and I had a few shots that I had to play from old divots.

Rough was also variable, like the fairways. In some spots, there was bare dirt, in others lush turf, and farthest from the fairways there was some deep stuff - knee high!

I found one fairway bunker, and one greenside bunker. Sand was a little thin, and heavy from morning rain, but ultimately playable. I noticed some of the bunkers contained pebbles and small rocks mixed in the sand. My friends both played more from the bunkers, and complained about the thin sand.

The greens were quite nice in appearance, with good green grass coverage on the enormous sloping complexes. Surface conditions were soft, so well hit shots held easily. Unfortunately, there were many ball marks left unrepaired. Putts generally rolled smooth and true, though only at medium to slow speeds.

I enjoyed the layout, though conditions were a little rough (the rating will reflect such). This is a course that I would definitely play more often if I lived in the area.

Played 4/28 with a friend - I'm on their email list but hadn't played there in awhile so they sent out a $10 off offer. After 10:00 that meant 18 holes for $17, tough to beat anything under a buck a hole! (See the end of the review for my take on their marketing)

Service was very good, much better than I remember. New clubhouse facility is a HUGE step up, Got out about 5 minutes early and paired up with two other guys, we hit it off right away and had a very enjoyable day.

Course conditions were decent, both fairways and rough were a little patchy but very playable. Greens held shots well, putted smooth but quite slow (especially compared to what I've been playing lately). My guess was around an 8 on the stimp, while the practice green was a least a 9 so it took a few holes to make the adjustment. Hole locations were challenging - if you didn't hit it in the right spot you had a really tough lag putt and if you were short-sided you were pretty much toast.

Most tees were level but most showed a lot of wear and a couple were nearly bare where the tees were set. Bunkers were ok, not great - pretty firm but with enough sand to play a normal sand shot and consistent throughout the course.

POP was marginal for a weekday at 4:50. My companion is on the slow side but we never lost contact with the group in front of us (even on the hole where we totaled 2 triples, a double and a bogey). This is kind of the norm for this course - not sure why, I've played it early and on a fairly late twilight and it moved along pretty quick, but never been under 4:25 at any other time.

Their weekday rates are fair and reasonable for the course conditions and layout - $32 before 10:00, $27 after. Definitely worth the price and the course itself is a pretty good layout with a good variety of holes.

About their marketing - this course is QUITE proactive with those on their email list. Frequent notices about same day/next day deals, events, leagues, etc. The $10 email was really supposed to be for one, but when my friend mentioned he hadn't played there since the last time with me, they honored it for both of us. Other courses should pay attention, with the current conditions they'd get my business on a regular basis if my work schedule allowed mid/late afternoon twilights and weekends.

Played 18 this afternoon with wonderful conditions! Fairways were a little sticky from the recent rains, which is to be expected. The course played a club if not a club and a half longer due to the lack of run-out on every shot. This being said there didn't seem to be any standing water anywhere on the course. The greens were pretty furry and slower than I'm accustomed to which lead to some putts falling off line or leaving some strokes out there, but they were pretty consistent which is all you can really ask for. A good roll and a trim would have them in fantastic condition.

Sand traps were absolutely terrible. Partly because of the rains in the past few days, but there is no excuse for super hard ground underneath the sand. This is one of the most frustrating things on the golf course for me when it comes to consistency. They need to replace the sand on ALL bunkers with nice fluffy white sand. With that addition this course would be a hidden gem for their prices.
