The course layout is pretty straight forward and there really aren't any blind shots during. The tee boxes are in excellent shape; they are very lush and aren't torn up. The fairways for the most part were in pretty good condition; I didn't notice any bare spots on the course. The greens are soft and fast; these are in great shape considering most courses are punching their greens this time of year. Some parts of the course were over-watered; the locals I played with said that they tend to over-water the course for some reason.

The course was worth the money IF you book via GolfNow.com; I paid $62 bucks through GolfNow.com opposed to the $125 they are asking for at Riverwalk.

Play was quite slow to the point we were waiting for every shot, wait to tee off, wait to hit approach shot, etc. Rangers are not proactive in terms of moving slow players along, quit after 9 holes at which time we were on 6+ hour pace for the round.

Tee Time was 2:05 and a couple and myself to the 1st Tee of Presidio at 1:30, and i said to myself good 30 minutes early. By the 3rd hole it was backed up at least 2 groups. Roughly 10 to 20 minutes wait for every hole from that point. We finished the round at 7:10 PM about 6 hrs. to play 18....Not acceptable and the golf course did not do anything to fix the problem...One of the reason i play Riverwalk if i have to...Poor course Management...I wont be back until they make somr drastic change in MANAGEMENT. The greens are full of DIVOTS.
Not worth it.

Played 9/10/08 Cookie cutter course, like an Overpriced LA Muni.. Luckily we got a deal on golfnow.com Played Presidio and Mission.. Greens good, but covered in ball marks. Fairways good, lush and well manicured, tee boxes level and not covered with divots. Sand traps in decent shape not hard. The problem with this course is the same as any American Golf managed course, they allow 5somes!! Slow, finished in just under 5hours even though they have 27 holes the pace of play was suspect!!

The one thing that frustrated me so much were the ball marks on the greens. You would think this was the lowest end of golf course. No one has the decency to replace ball marks it looks like. anyways it was a decent round other than the ball marks it's a nice course but not for the 100$ they wanna charge. I highly suggest playing twilight for 30$ Wouldn't pay more than that.

Played on Wednesday afternoon and the course is overall in great shape! Some tee boxes are a little uneven and have some bare spots but that didn't bother me much. Friars has a lot of ground under repair mostly in the rough areas, so you wouldn't hit in there anyways right? Had a great time playing, Presidio was in excellent condition and Mission looked great (as it always does) Definatly recommended for those of you who get the Union Tribune, look in the Tuesday issue and there will usually be great coupons for the course in the sports section.

Played here on 4/12 in the morning on Presidio/Mission. Course is in fairly good shape and the greens seem to be healing well after a recent aeration. They are rolling true and fast but still receptive to approach shots. Main gripe with this course is how close all the holes are together, especially on Presidio. Managed to play as a foursome in just under 4 1/2 hours.

Played today 12/14 on Mission/Presidio. Still cart path only. Got out in front of everyone again in the early morning (very cold), so can't really tell you about pace of play. Fairways are coming in pretty nice, no real bare spots, just a little bit shaggy still. Overall, fairways are decent. Sandtraps were decent, only went in twice today and they were consistent with each other.

This is a pretty traditional type layout. Was pretty stoked to play something more traditional after the Crossings yesterday. Bunkering is good and placed in good punitive spots. Only knock on the course would be the tee boxes...thin in spots and some semi-unlevel boxes from the blues.

GOOD NEWS = Green complexes were filthy! (in a good way). Virtually no ball marks and maybe even an eleven on stimp. Awesome greens!!! Mission has a little more dogleg trickery than Presidio, but both nines are in good shape.

I will go back again next time I am in SD. This place should be rated higher than 6+ in my opinion. Also, easy to get discounted tee times online for this course. Click4teetimes or TeetimesAmerica.

Staff was very laid back. Starter gave me no guff about going as a single and some other marshall guy gave didn't bug me at all when I turned off Mission onto Presidio nine which wasn't supposed to open for another 30 minutes. Thanks Riverwalk guys, that's the attitude that keeps people like coming back!
