Played on 9/26 in the morning. 7:07 tee time. This course was packed. I've never been to a course (at) 6:30 am and had the line at 10 deep to pay. I think there is local coupons to play 9 holes. Lots of out of towners mixed in with locals.

We were scheduled to play Mission/Friar, but because of the back up, the start let us go Presidio/ Mission. We got out (at) 7:15 am. We finished 18 in 4:45 with a 10 minute break for breakfast.
Teebox, fairways, and greens were lush considering the amount of play this course gets. The course is not too challenging. Lots of water hazard..usually on the right...Lots of areas to miss on the left. If you fade the ball, you might be in trouble, but if you hit hooks..no problems here. Greens were in good shape. Views are pretty cool; ur in the middle of Mission Valley San Diego. Trolley would buzz by every now and then, but overall a pleasant experience. GPS was very nice, but acted up sometimes. Would come back for discounted green fee.

course is in greta shape, greens really nice just a boringcorse had to take my daughter shopping so for convenience this was good for me centrally located quick round and close.......

Played on 3/19. Half the greens were punched, with the hole on the non-aerated portion of the green. Despite this, the greens actually played fairly well and the aerated portion of the green is about 10 days from recovering. Of course, the work on the greens means that they are slow. And I don't think they will roll the greens until April.

The rest of the course was in average condition.

I booked this tee time the night before play on an online discount golf site. I booked the 6:07AM time for $45. I wasn't sure what time sunrise was but was fairly sure I had the 1st tee time. My partner and I arrived at 5:45 and the only ones at the course were the maintance crew. At 6am the proshop attendant arrived and opened the shop at around 6:10. The sun broke the horizon about that time and we were on our way. One of the nines (mission) was flooded from the rains the day prior. So we were routed to the Friars/Presidio combination. Obviously the pace of play for us was awesome, finished in 3 1/2 hours. I was impressed with the condition of the course since the day before they received a couple of inches of rain. The fairways and greens had drained very well and were in good shape. No real noticeable green damage from ball marks and fairways were full and firm. The rough was fairly short and not much of a disadvantage. Bunkers were a little heavy but not hard. The only bad thing about the day was that the river that runs through the course was overflowing and causeing a lot of the fairway drains to back up and flood. This caused a ton of casual water. My brother in law lost two balls in a fairway lake of casual water. Aside from that I had an enjoyable time and the staff was very friendly. We didn't eat or drink anything at the course so no info or rating on the food or drink. If I had to pay full price, I would have been disappointed, but for the price I paid I was happy.

Played in the middle of the week because I thought it would move faster. It moved at a snails pace and it took 5+ hours to finish. For the price they charge RW has to do a better job of marshalling. One came by and I asked him about the hold up and he said a group was behind by 2 holes. 2 holes? Isn't that the job of the marshalls to speed up slow groups? He said they were having groups play through them. Huh? How long does it take to have 5-6 groups play through? I'll tell you...18 holes, which is where our group caught up with them.

This group should have been asked to pick up their balls and move to last vacant tee. Instead they were allowed to anger every other golfer on the course behind them. I hope RW enjoys the green fees they get from the snails because I won't be playing there for some time.

BTW - I know some of you will say 5-5.5 hours is to be expected, but I disagree. For a chopped up muni maybe, but when you're charging $85 players should expect marshalls to keep the play moving at a good pace. At that pace you are stopping and waiting on every shot, every tee box.

Got a last minute deal for $49 and a 12:54 tee time. Was able to get in all 18, we finished in less than 4 hrs which was nice because I wasn't expecting to get all 18 in. As for the course I thought... Continue »

Got a last minute deal for $49 and a 12:54 tee time. Was able to get in all 18, we finished in less than 4 hrs which was nice because I wasn't expecting to get all 18 in. As for the course I thought the greens were in great shape as far as speed, they were spotty b/c people didn't seem to be repairing their ball mark. Fairways were good but there seemed to be a lot of divots and there is virtually no rough. The greenside bunkers seemed to have fluffy sand and the fairway bunkers were rock hard. Unless you are putting the ball in the river or on the train tracks everything is virtually in play. I wouldn't pay any more than what I did.

Played weds the 5th Mission and Friars. Course is in good shape and the greens are nice. Worth the green fee on golfnow. I think I prefer the Presidio course over the Friars though. Had some problems with one of the green mowers that leaked some fluid on the greens on the Mission. Did not really effect the greens yet though.
