Played Friars and Presidio on Thanks Giving. The course is fairly empty so I get 1 hour earlier Tee time! The fairway is in very good condition, no bare spots. Greens are smooth but too slow (slower than Torrey Pines). The greens here are special because my team mates and I always over-read every time I played here, today is no exception. Roughs have some bad spots due to lack of strict cart rules and are much thiner compared to Torrey Pines. Overall the staff do care the course and I enjoyed a fun afternoon.

Came down to SD for the day and got a nice round in while the wife went shopping. First time playing this course or any outside of Orange County or LA. Although chosen mostly based on location to Fashion Valley mall, I was very happy with the choice. Course is wide open links style course. Nothing especially scenic or interesting, just a well maintained facility with friendly staff and decent rates. The standard full weekend is a little steep at $110, but I guess that is what keeps the pace quick (finished in just under 4 hours today). I would recommend playing here, especially for higher handicappers as the flat layout is very forgiving.

Played Mission/Friars today around 9:30
Pace was excellent - finished in under 4 hours - great for a Sunday. We saw marshalls several times, maybe that helped. Overall course was in great shape. Mission 9 was a littel soggy and carts could not go on the first few holes, so that slows things down, but keeps the fairways in great shape. The tee boxes were all gvery good, fairways in most cases were also very good - just a few signs leftover from hole punching a few weeks back and a few bare spots off the edges. Sand Traps were very good - I was in several, and it was a little wet, but the sand was still nice and consistent. The greens were also in very good condition - no evidence of all the ball marks others have mentioned in the last few months. Overall conditons were very good.

There's also a nice driving range(lighted) and putting green, and a decent clubhouse. The course itself is interesting but not anything spectacular. Even from the blues a lot of short par 4's. Water comes into play on many holes. the Friars nine has more wind to contend with - first few holes are into it, but the last few are with it. The trolley goes right through the Friars nine every 10 minutes. It's located close to I-8.

Overall a nice course in good shape and good location. If you can get on for a dicount it is worth it. But no way I would play the full rack rate (over $100).

The "rough" is in bad shape. Many areas are bare (just dirt/mud) or very thin and sparse clumps of grass. The rest of the course is in fairly good shape.

Great track close to everything, in Mission Valley where the old Stardust used to be. Mission in my oppinion is the most senic.

Nice practice facility and a school on site.

There is nothing wrong with the course, albiet somewhat redundant. It just is not special enough to warrant almost $100 green fees. (Wouls rather play Coronado for a fraction of the cost ...... if you can get a tee time)

The greens were somewhat disappointing--very bumpy with severe divot damage and rolling medium slow. The fairways were okay, but this course layout is dangerous to fellow golfers as many holes are next to each other. Had several close calls (receiving and giving ends). Short course a little on the easy side. Pace of play was extremely slow with two groups on each tee box on the back nine. Not worth the rate of $69; would not recommend.

If there ever was an overpriced golf course, this is it. I got a "discounted" green fee of $70. Most of the greens looked like bombs had been dropped on them. Wasn't all that impressed with the service there either, three guys were at the pro shop counter and only one person was helping anybody. The pace of play was about 5:15 for the round. There is nothing spectacular about this course either, no scenery, no beautiful holes, no difficult holes, etc. There are better courses and values in the area.
