Played GCC Fallbrook early on 7/21. Out at 6:00am, had to race around before an 8:30 shotgun started. Surprised they wouldn't warn you of that when you booked. But I made it around and done before 8:00, so all good.

This was my first time back here in a few years, and first time since JC Golf took over. They have done some turf reductions, so staying on the short grass is more important now.

Conditions are very good right now. I got ahead of the maintenance crew, so the greens were a bit shaggy, but still rolled well. Fairways in good shape. Tees mostly good, although several had been overrun by weeds. Playable, but I suspect a full redo is needed on those boxes.

Sand traps were very nice. Rough - a lot of it is now harpan due to the turn reduction. Balls can run away for days on that, so stay away.

Still a great track. Looks like they are offering a players card (comparable to the Palm Card at Arrowood) that gives a nice weekday rate. Might have to keep that in mind.

One of my very favorite courses to play. I think the variety of the holes, coupled with the general setting of the course is extremely pleasing - fun, interesting, sufficient challenge, yet fair and not overly penal. There are so many holes which present somewhat of a unique perspective, not found on most other tracks. Condition of the course was about what I have come to expect. Greens had nice pace and rolled true and were receptive. Good coverage in the fairways. Did not find any bunkers, but all appeared well maintained. Staff is always friendly and great to deal with. Highly recommend this course. Wish it were closer to my location

Play the course once a week and it's one of the best public courses in North County San Diego. Conditions are excellent, including the bunkers. Plenty of challenge for all yet playable for higher handicaps from the right tee boxes. A number of holes are not your typical grip and rip with the driver off the tee and require a little thought and strategic approach. Icing on the cake is the staff who are always professional, friendly and unlike some courses in the area appreciate the business.

Early afternoon tee time 4.5 hour round. The rates have continued to increase since JC took over management of this course. The parking lot has some of the smallest spots I've dealt with at any course ever so beware. The carts all have decent GPS but ours shut down on us while driving down the cart path?? The tee boxes were a little shaggy with good coverage and limited divot damage. The rough doesn't really come in to play since there is very little of it to find. Many forced carries from start to finish with thick stuff off the fairways. The fairways were mostly tight fairly dry bermuda. You will encounter sections of other types of grass mostly around the greens. The dry fairways provided great roll if you could keep the ball in them. Many of the holes slope from left to right so shot placement is critical. The middle of the fairways roll so much that a shot there can easily end up in the rough or out of bounds. The traps ranged from hard packed dirt/sand to thick damp stuff around the greens. The greens are fairly large but can be hard to read for some. The quickness of them slowed as the round progressed into the late afternoon. The layout is challenging and can be frustrating for those who haven't played here before. The weekday afternoon rates are reasonable but the morning rack rates are a little steep. This area of Northern SD County doesn't have a lot to choose from in the way of courses anymore and most have increased their rates because of this.

Played 6/13/25 8 am Shotgun. Course was in really great shape. Fairways had very good coverage with ball sitting up. A few GIR mixed around, but seldom caused any issues. They were playing on the firm & fast side with plenty of cushion. Greens were fantastic, but on the slow side. Held shots very well. Noticed a few wobbles and were a tad on the slow side, but they played great. Was not in any traps but they looked firm. T box's mostly great with a few uneven stances. Overall a easy recommend.

Played 11/3/24 10:10 POP 4.5 hrs Course is in very good to great shape. Fairways have very good coverage and mostly green. They are cut pretty tight and required good ball stricking. Very good roll out and they played well. Greens were in mostly great shape. Receptive and rolled at a medium pace. Noticed a few balls take noticeable bumps and hops. Rough was a mix of clumpy grass. From thin and clumpy to thick and clumpy. You can have a good lie or a shity lie. Traps in fair shape. They all have the same course sand/ DG mix in them, so at least they are consistent. Most on the firm side. Driving range small and a little on the ragged side. It had been a while since playing here, and it did not disappoint. A fun and challenging course with a great mix of hole designs and in good to great shape.

Nice to get back to one of my favorite courses in So California. I could play this course every day. Staff is always great to deal with and the general setting of the course is most appealing. The condition of the course was overall very good. Greens a bit slow for my taste, but OK, Decent coverage in the fairways and rough. A few tee boxes needed attention, but nothing severe. Despite having played here a number of times, I still continue to struggle on hole #6. (I think next time I'll play the short tees on that hole, just to give me chance at reaching it in regulation. Recommend this course if you have yet to play it, you will not be disappointed.

Late morning 4.5+ hour round on an always busy course. The facility and carts are very nice and well kept. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The parking lot has some of the smallest spaces you will ever encounter. The tee boxes were all in pretty good shape but some were a little thin and shaggy. The rough is not long where you find it on the course and allows for a good stroke on the ball. Fairways all had good coverage which really improves on the back nine. Some of the sections throughout the round were a little dry and others a little damp but very playable. The traps were all damp and the fairway bunkers thin and firm. Green side bunkers had good amounts of sand but were also damp. The greens were much slower than usual with less break than most would think. The staff did have the practice greens at the same speed you found on the course which was nice for once. The overall conditions and weekday green fees make this place a great deal in the golf world nowadays. Recommended

Midweek early morning four hour round. The staff is always friendly here and the new carts are much improved. The carts have gps and windshields now! The tee boxes were all in nice shape and trimmed down. The rough is present on maybe half of the holes and is shorter than most courses and not very thick either. The fairways were in good condition with a few thin sections or patchy grass here and there throughout the round. They were trimmed tightly but were damp enough to allow good contact. The traps were all groomed very well with mostly dark brown sand and small pebbles in most. Hitting from the traps was difficult with the damp thin sand. The greens were all in fantastic shape but were somewhat slower than usual. The members we were grouped with said they hadn't been mowed yet and the maintenance crew has been keeping them damp with the warmer weather. There were nearly no ball marks and less break than one would play. The weekday rack rate is reasonable for the area and the 19th hole has some good views.
