Played the Victoria Lakes 9 for the first time. Fairways are dormant and not overseaded, but still in good shape. Greens good shape as well as sand. Course sits down and is more protected from wind than the main course. When they get the other 9 opened it will make the two courses an interesting mix. Course has 4 sets of T's so it can be played with a wide range of handicaps. There is no range or practice green at the temporary club house. Even with the temporary set up RR continues to be one of the best run courses in the area. Their Junior program is unsurpassed.

Still a fun course but pace of play very slow. Marshalls failed to move along slow playing groups with 1-2 holes open in front of them.

Played 12/24 and the course was in decent shape for winter. Some fairways were a bit thin and dry, most likely due to the cold and dry weather. I've always liked this course and decided to play from the tips this time, very challenging, especially the greens, which are normally tough, but this time the greens were like putting on glass. Unbelievbley fast (ditto from the previous posting.) Having to approach or chip in front of green rolled well past the hole. Hard to stick as the ball would release more than usual. Had a birdie putt on #9, ended up with a double due to the roll of the greens, burning the edges all day long. Almost seemed unfair for a public course, but wasn't complaining as much as my poor playing on the back nine. Did catch a glimpse of the new green for one of the new holes being built just behind #16... are they kidding me? If that's what this course is going to be like after the addition, it's going to make for some high scores. Never the less, I'll still come back to play this course, because I'm that much of a masochist.

Played on Thursday 12/21 at noon. Very disappointed with fairways on this course, course conditions going downhill just a little bit. Greens were very fast today, chipping ball on front of green and balls rolling past middle pin to at least 10 feet away. Two low single digit handicapps in our group that struggled big time today on short game because of speed of the greens. Tiem for RR to grow some grass on fairways and improve tee boxes, quality of greens are just fine.

Greens were very fast today, chipping ball on front of green and balls rolling past middle pin to at least 10 feet away. Played 11/19 early. Not much new to report other than a few fairways have dried out a bit as a result of the unseasonable weather- resulting in a few more GUR than usual [1/4/9/15/16]. Otherwise, RR delivers the usual consistent condtions: smooth and true, fast greens; low rough; enough elevation changes, terrain, yardage and wind to kick my butt.

Played 11/13 morning and teed off before 11 AM. I was pleasantly pleased to see the course in good condition. As a single, the starter was able to get me out quickly (within 10 minutes) and my playing partners made the round enjoyable.
The greens were super-fast, and the pin positions were a bit challenging. The fairways were just in good shape, but they were beginning to do some overseeding, which will help even out the quality of the course. Even for the midday time, the wind began to pick up and moved the ball offline when the ball spun too much.
The only bad thing was there was a group tournament ahead of us and that slowed us up from having an under 4 hour round. The Victoria Lakes course is not expected to be ready until late summer 2007, but it looks like it will round into shape and be quite as challenging.

Played yesterday (10/21) in afternoon. This course continues to try and make improvements, fairways are as green as they ever have been and greens were in great shape. Marshalls and pace of play staff do a pretty good job here of keeping proper pace, good value course and a challenge.

Played the Vistoria Lakes nine as a twosome on a Sunday. Despite the moaning about this nine I saw by some on this board, the course itself was in fine shape. Greens rolled very true and smooth. Were slow in the early portion of the round but picked up speed after the first hour. Played eighteen in 3:18. Rate was cheap, made the turn without delay and could have gone back out for another round immediately (at noon). Still a dirt parking lot as this is 'temporary'. It is obvious that the final nine additional holes will not be open for at least another year. Then they will be mixing and matching from all 36 holes to reconfigure both courses.
