a gem of a course in the east bay. a good drive to get to but well worth it. layout is supreme and conditions are always good. greens are fast and hilly! if the winds pick up, best have your knockdown and stingers ready. on a calm day, you can easily overpower this course if you play from the white tips. fatigue can set in quickly with the heat. price for this great course is a steal!

Played here with a relative and two friends on 5/17. Teed off @ 12:45, about 10 mins behind our scheduled tee time, as the two groups of four front of us were walking. First time playing this course, but I was really impressed. Open course with an occasional water hazard, but very forgiving for a player working through a slice or hook in their swing. The fairways and greens were well maintained and in great shape. The greens were fast on the front 9, but considerably slower on the back side. The tee boxes could use a little TLC on the PAR 3s and few PAR 4s, but they weren't atrocious. All in all, it was a great course and the weather was great all day. I'd definitely play here again.

Once again, up visiting family in the East Bay and as always, stopping in to play Boundary. Out early on 8/1, playing solo finishing in about 3 hours. Noticed that Boundary was hosting the Walnut Creek Open for the Golden State Tour. This day was the final round with 18 players and it was a real treat to watch these young professionals smack it. The leader’s scores were in the mid 60’s. Talented.

As such, you might expect the course was in great condition. It was! Fairways were cut down allowing for some really nice lies. The rough was not real thick but was green and lush. Bunkers were as good as I have ever seen at any course.

The greens were very fast which made them very tricky, particularly on the greens that had some undulations. Noticed that the maintenance crews were rolling the greens and their work was paying off. Amazing! Some greens were browning out in some areas and there were many ball marks but it did not affect the roll.

This course is usually in good condition most times but clearly, I caught it at a great time. Truly exceptional. The only down side was the goose droppings which was more prominent on holes/greens where there was water. Regardless, definitely recommend. The course is somewhat hilly with a few doglegs but is a fun and challenging layout for sure.

Up in No Cal for the holiday weekend to play a few courses and then a tournament. Always look forward to this trip and first stop today was Boundary Oaks. I play here a couple times a year as I have family up here to visit. Got out early walking and was second out following another single in a cart. Beautiful morning and no wind to speak of. Recognized GK’er Bgarcelon who works here and went over to say hello. Nice gentleman.

BO is in great condition right now. About as good as I have ever seen it. The rain has helped I am sure but the fairways are excellent and I noticed there is no kikuyu. What happened? I asked Bgarcelon who mentioned the weather is cool now and kikuyu goes dormant. As the weather warms up, it will return. Was not aware of that. Regardless, every lie was great. On the thin side but still excellent. Tee boxes were good. The rough was green and lush and not difficult to get out of. I was only in 1 bunker and it was in good shape. Good firm sand.

The greens were holding well and rolled true. These are really nice greens and as the previous reviewer, sixpez indicates, you do not want not want to be above the hole. Putting downhill here is a challenge.

Great improvements here, including the grill/bar. Very nice. Folks here are always great here as well. Thoroughly enjoyable round today finished in about 3 hours. Course is a bit hilly but not crazy. Hopefully, they can keep it nice throughout the summer.

Played here on Monday morning alongside GK'er, Bgarcelon, who works here and set up a 6:00 tee time for us. We were joined by Craig, who was the head teaching pro here for over 30 years and shared a lot of course history. We were joined by another course regular at the turn. We finished in about 3.5 hours as the second group out.

The course is in nice overall condition, highlighted by excellent greens that were receptive and rolling smooth. They have a lot of undulation and slope, so I got lucky with a softer/wetter morning round compared to how they typically play in the afternoon. Either way, you never want to be above the hole here. The tee boxes, fairways and rough were all in generally good condition with just a few weak spots here and there. Also a lot of goose "stuff" on/around the tee boxes. They seem to like whatever seed is in that turf, so that's where they're doing the most damage. Bunkers were pretty good, as well.

Definitely a very enjoyable layout with a fairly secluded location and some nice views, even on a very dark overcast morning. Very hilly and plenty of big doglegs, and I mentioned the big/undulated greens that really provide the course's biggest defense. Overall a very recommendable local course if you are in the Walnut Creek area.

Up again in No. Cal. visiting friends and family and always, try to get in a couple rounds. As usual, make a stop to play Boundary Oaks. I see I am only rater of this course for some time and don’t have a lot to add from previous reviews. On a cold morning, there were a couple of groups already out or on their way to the tee. Waited for a bit and the starter sent me out as a single paying a walking, weekday rate of $27. It was a bit tough to get warm out there. 39 degrees at tee off time with some frost on the fairways helped get some roll.

The course is showing winter is on the way. Fairways look to be going dormant but still in good condition. Some bare spots out there also but for the most part, good coverage. Tee boxes look like they have been worked on so over seeding may have taken place. Bunkers are in great condition. They have all been worked on and have good firm sand.

The greens are in good shape. Fast actually. The pins were in difficult locations today so you had to watch the speed or going downhill you could roll past the hole and down on the other side of the green.

Always enjoy playing here but have seen it in better condition. Looking forward to my next trip up north to play here again.

Up in the Bay Area visiting the in-laws and going to try to get in a few rounds. I always start with Boundary Oaks as it is only 10 minutes away from where we are staying. Got there early today 8/2 and a twosome was already on the tee hitting. So, the starter sent me right the tee to follow. Real nice guy in the clubhouse. Wish I had got his name. $27 to walk and didn’t bring a pull cart so decided to carry. Made it around with no problem and in 3 hours. Never caught the 2 some in front of me.

A beautiful, cool morning and was very impressed with the conditions. Mostly kikuyu fairways but they were cut down. In fact I seemed to be following the maintenance guys cutting the grass. Had to wait on many holes as they made their way through the fairways. The rough was not thick and very playable. The bunkers were in excellent shape. Soft, fluffy sand which was nice to hit out of but could easily get a fried egg because they were so soft.

Great greens!! All of them. Soft, holding shots and they rolled perfectly. As fast as I have ever seen them.

This course is in excellent condition right now. As nice as I have ever seen it. If you’re ever up here, got to give it a go. Note that they do charge weekend rates on Fridays so Mon-Thurs are the best days.

Was looking forward to playing Boundary Oaks while visiting up here in the Bay Area but noticed there wasn’t an early tee time available on line so took a chance and drove out to play as a single. Interesting coincidence but while I was on the putting green, got to meet another GK’er, BGarcelon who noticed my GK bag tag. Since I was a single, Brandon offered me to join his 7:40 group if someone from his foursome didn’t show. His 4 some was intact so I wasn’t able to join them but it was still very nice of Brandon to offer. Still was able to get out as a single thanks to the nice work of the guys in the club house. Always great customer service here.

BO is in pretty good condition. The fairways had great coverage. The rough was thick and green. Bunkers are in great shape. Soft, fluffy sand that could easily become a fired egg because they real soft.

Greens were disappointing however as they just put a thin layer of sand on them. Didn’t affect the roll much but was a bit messy. Needed the towel to clean off the sand on everything after each hole. I asked a maintenance guy why the sand and he said it was a top dressing needed as they just verticut the greens. The sand is used to fill in all of the holes. Learned something new today about greens.

Always enjoy playing Boundary. A challenging course, particularly from the blues and is a must play if you’re in the area.

Up visiting again and of course have to play Boundary. Got to the course before daylight and the starter put me out in front of a twosome. Nice guy this starter and next time I will get his name. Finished in just under 3 hours walking (and carrying, ugh!).

I always enjoy playing here and I asked the starter how the course was playing and it said it was in great condition. He was right this time. It plays long from the blues particularly with the wind in your face. Pretty much in good condition overall. Fairways are kikuyu but were cut down so you could get some roll. Tee boxes are in good shape. Sand traps are in excellent condition. Good, firm sand. There really isn’t much rough to speak of. Its either dried out or thick with weeds.

The greens are great. They were running fast but still held good shots.

I have always been impressed with this course. For a muni they keep the course playing very well. Looking forward to coming back.
