Early out Sunday 10/6 following a two-some as we were given the option to go 2/2 vs 4.
The course is in good shape and playing nicely. Overall and consistent through the green hole to hole. Overall hopefully my rating totals 6.75 to 7.1+ area. Played the white tees and should have moved forward to gold for better scoring/closer approach shots.
The routing is mountain golf at lower elevation.
White tees get a lot of play the smaller boxes especially the shaded ones a bit thin. All level.
Most every hole had some area staked and roped either for repair or to keep carts routed away. Fairways good for the most part, but not 100% play it down everywhere.
Bunkers ok but not great. Inconsistent .
Greens were in great shape and tough today. Fast and consistent cut fresh and fully healed from aeration. The dome shaped ones were tough to hold, and downhill putts a challenge to lag putt. Not having a sharp chipping game and off with the flat stick made par mostly impossible.
Still fun, recommend.
Cold beer and ordered breakfast burrito on 9th tee. Got 2-1 unexpected special picking up at turn.

Celebrated the 4th with an early tee time. Busy and active staging area, practice green and range all near clubhouse. Easy check-in efficient check-in in pro-shop and starter was busy shuffling a couple groups with players being late. Tee'd off right on time and POP was good at 4.3 hrs but waited on the group in front of us a few times on shorter holes.
Course is in tip top summer conditions. Many hole have manual sprinklers in locations that would dry out without the extra H2O. Marshall was around later checking on us and water to stay hydrated.
Tee boxes flat well grown in.
Fairways good and a definition to the variable rough on most holes.
Wasn't in bunkers white sand and looked ok.
Greens were in great shape a bit wet being early but smooth and rolling medium consistent speeds.
Had voucher for Mon-Thu deal valid for holidays, so with a good rate and it's cooler in Camino than the valley temps and pleasant company FUN and an easy recommend.

Have been playing here for twenty years. To the "resort" part of the courses name. It maybe possible in the future, right now, just usual pro-shop and restaurant for amenities.

Have been playing here for twenty years. To the "resort" part of the courses name. It maybe possible in the future, right now, just usual pro-shop and restaurant for amenities.
Weekday senior rate is $45 w/cart a good value. The course is at 3000 ft elevation and plays through evergreen and deciduous trees in a woods like setting. This time of year many wildflowers are in bloom along the edges and of course deer and the other critters of the forest.
To the course conditions. The greens are rolling smooth moderate pace holding shots. A few dark spots from ball marks. Many with interesting undulations and slopes. Above average summer conditions. Fairways good lies and drying out with many areas of spot watering. Rough is not too severe and was my friend a few times keeping ball in play.
Bunkers damp and packed others ok. Average for a course of this rate.
Cooler at the mountain and it was and is an enjoyable round.

Played on Sunday after a couple days of rain. First few holes were a little soggy and muddy, but I expected conditions to be a lot worse. Cart path only makes for a lot of hiking back and forth on this extremely hilly course. A lot of 220 yard tee shots required, with only a couple holes where you can really let the driver loose. Overall course conditions were improving compared to last reviews. Fairways were growing in nicely from all the rain and they were firm enough not to have any balls plugging. Greens were rolling very nicely, soft to firm, but consistent speeds, especially for getting so much rain. There were some ball marks on many of the greens, but not enough to noticeably affect putts. Bunkers were muddy/flooded so it's tough to give a good review on them at the moment. Customer service was a little lacking, they didn't seem too welcoming and a little bit annoyed about us showing up to spend money. Tee sheet was nearly empty, seems like they are at risk of going downhill with that approach.

Reads spot on to the conditions and experiences on a mandatory golf Friday. Opening day after the low snows from a series of atmospheric river storms basically all month. Snow staying on the ground in Camino for days is rare. I expected softer conditions, not so much mud when the shady areas are mostly frozen. Requiring careful footwork. Big bounces from the frozen side of the fairway, not much roll from the thawed areas. Greens slower that usual but nice. Course emerging well in most areas. Bunkers needed grooming.
Every other day prior to 1/27, I called the pro shop for updates in case we needed a back-up plan in the valley. Parking lot at 11am was busier than I expected. A sunny day and the players are anxious to get out.

Used a Golf Moose offer. Happy to report that Link Soul clothing is available in the pro-shop. Telling me they are up on style at the Mountain. Like Alex in his wine colored shirt.

It's a challenging track now a days with me losing distance and many elevated greens. A hot pitching wedge and good putting saves me here. The home course of my career birdie record. (4 in a round 2002) Only one today was for Alex on number 2. A par 3 with elevation drop of 40+ yards. The detail I relearned today was that a fade shot of 150-185 range is a most valuable stroke saving weapon here. Useful on at least 4 holes on the front 9. Don't get to play golf in the snow too often. Fun...

Traveled up to Apple Mountain on Friday 1/27/23 for a preseason match against DeepSea14 in the SNOW (see pictures). Apparently Peter was reminiscing about the Patriots win over the Raiders in the snow (the famous tuck rule game) and wanted similar conditions to help him out. Actually, we purposely chose the course based on the fact that there would be snow on some of the holes. After playing Spanish Bay on Thursday in perfect conditions (course and weather), this was to be more about the experience. Straight up what a BLAST. With snow at the entrance and half the driving range covered in snow, it was just as we hoped. Weather was actually decent with only a jacket required while waiting in the shade. We played the front nine twice as the back nine was still closed due to heavy snow.

We were treated to picturesque snow on the left side of the landing area on the first hole. The rest of the course had snow/ice tucked in here and there throughout making it a memorable day. The ninth hole had another large snow patch in the fairway as well. Naturally it was cart path only but surprisingly the fairways were in mostly playable conditions. Due to the course being on a mountain, it has great runoff and drainage, so the areas in the sun were pretty decent.

Greens were decent enough. Not buttery smooth and fast like the previous day at the Bay but good enough to make a few putts including a birdie to make me now an official Snow Bird (lol). Green complexes are mostly double tiered that if you were on the right level made the green docile but on the wrong tier made for a challenging two putt.

Layout is fun target golf with all holes having elevation changes. Again with it being the first day the course was open after the recent snow storm it was exactly what we expected and what we were looking for. Whereas, the course conditions were average, they were actually better than expected. I posted a few pictures.

It was an epic day that was so worth it!

Early out on Birthday golf Tuesday. they are listed as a GK birthday golf venue however with the Sr rate at $45 each it was good enough.
A little more the two years since I played here. And it's been a love hate relationship with me and this course if I maybe honest. Bad day scoring yesterday with plenty of trouble found on most any hole.
Still an interesting track in a beautiful semi-mountain setting (elevation 2500+)
The other reviews tell the story about the course geography too.
Conditions yesterday:
Greens ok rolled variable as they had not been mowed. Dew tracks and later got fast as it got warm and dried up. fairways good tight lies some areas in the rough or close to the playing areas variable. You may catch a bad lie with great lie a few feet away.
Tees (whites) a bit beat-up and shaggy I'd say most players use these.
Bunkers ok a bit moist.
Liked playing here again wish my swing and scoring were more cooperative.
Some highway 50 repaving and traffic route changes for safety. Might take an extra 10 minutes coming from west.

Played 11/29/21 10 am Shotgun GMoose deal. First time playing the course and it was a lot of fun. Numerous elevation changes and a few forced carries, but course is on the short side. Played with two of my sisters and I thought the Yellow tee boxes were a little unfair with the required carries. Don't let the shortness fool you. If you're not hitting it in control you will find plenty of trouble. Like Matt had written, read the tip sheet first time around.
The shorter sunlight day's have put the course in a somewhat "Soggy" condition. Good coverage in fairway's, with some areas thin and muddy. Lots of mud balls on this day. Greens were in overall great shape and receptive. Noticed a couple of them had small 2" dead spots scattered around, but they did not cause any issues. A really fun "Target" mountain golf course. It's a little amazing on how and where they built this course. Look forward to try it again.
