Played in a huge 6 man scramble tournament (300 players) 9/19. Greens were not healed yet so putting was off some. Fairways as always in good shape, plenty of coverage, Rough was down for the most part so finding and playing balls not to difficult. One group was 19 under from the White tees pretty fair I thought. The course is right out in the open with no houses around and features 27 holes and a great practice, all on grass, area. The course usually has a good wind blowing ac cross it which can make some holes very long, we were lucky only had the wind up on the last 4 holes.

Wife and I finally made it to Goose Creek. Course was very nice, fairways full of good grass and greens putting so true we both shot better than our handicaps. Sand traps around the greens and most fairways were well taken care of and full of softer sand than most all the public courses we play in the Inland Empire. Playing the white (3) tee boxes I found the course to be on the easy side, and my wife playing a combo of (1) and (2) tee boxes also found the course much easier than say Yucapia Valley or Rancho Del Sol. A practice area that could be the best around was a pleasure to discover, only hitting off mats on driving range is never worth the effort. Pitching and chipping along with plenty of putting greens was super. Carts were newer and very nice with good GPS to the flags and set correctly for the days pins was great. Course is super clean and maintained as good or better than most. Beverage cart was around twice on front and back. All in all a GREAT place to play..and we were VERY happy to putt on greens that were as true as you could read. Number 17 and 18 all of a sudden are hard, with 18 being unfairly hard, you par or better 18 from white or blue and your a good golfer.

Just played San Vicente Golf Resort 8/17. Beautiful setting, course is in very good shape, excellent tee box's, plenty of nice fluffy lies in fairways (wide also) rough not very high, sand traps excellent with lots of sand. Outstanding chipping areas around greens maybe a little tight for some but not the hit and miss we have at most public courses. Greens were very good and ran just fast enough to make a very noticeable difference in up hill and down hill speeds. Many greens had undulations making some tricky putting. A course I would think anyone will walk away from knowing the next time I will know where it hit on the green and a course where taking a second to plan your shot will pay off. Would have to rate this course as good as any out in the Palm Desert Area.

Played chalk Mountain 7/13 at 10:30 $52 to ride. Played by myself so had the course to myself most of the day. Nice fairways for sure, ball sits so nice the 3 wood even got in the air. Not much rough but unplayable vegetation off many fairways. I had played here 10 years ago and can say it is a lot nicer now. Fun holes and a lot of up hill, side hill challenges. Bunkers were not the best but playable. A couple of holes need to drive up on and find the right green for sure before you tee off if your new there. My best shot hit the pin and stopped by hole, just wrong green, that was hole #12, that one needs a little look see before you tee off. I was very happy with the course conditions as I did not expect them to be as good as they are.,

7/12 we played Morro Bay Golf Course at noon. Just a really fun course, with views of the bay from many holes. Up and down on lot of the holes making yardage play a lot longer than card. We paid $55 at noon with cart, younger players could walk but it is a good walk. Course in good shape if you hit fairways, rough was cut fairly short but grass thins out a lot. Fairways have nice fluffy lies because of the Kikuyu Grass, hit short of most greens and that Kikuyu keeps you short. Sand traps had a mix of sand, firm in fairways but kind of powdery and thick in green sides. Cannot call it a high end course by any means, but high end setting for sure. Must remember fog and cold in the mornings this time of year and not much over 70 in the afternoons.

Played last week 3 times, why because it is where a 16 handicap can break 80 from the silver (6,000) tees. But note if you take your wife she may have you on this one, mine did. Course in typical summer shape, some brown in fairway but still most lies are good. Greens were real good with the exception of the ones that have been sand whipped to much, we counted 4 not up to par. Sand traps fairly firm, but good sand coverage. Excellent warm up area and driving range included in green fees. Price, as all courses, up a little from last summer we paid $59 on the weekdays. Always find the Gary Player in good shape and on the easy side with 4 short par 3's to help the score.

Played early on 6/29. Course in very good shape, good fairway coverage and rough not overly high. Like most Desert courses there are some brown patches in most fairways but are still playable as the heat is over a hundred by 11 now. Greens are very good with that higher end true roll lacking in most public courses. Course is a bit pricey even now, we paid $88 on a week day morning. If you never played on a course designed to be used by the PGA this is a good example, only problem is the wind, which we luckily did not have to deal with. Plenty of tee boxes all the way back to 7,300 hundred yards or up to about 4,800 yards. Some fairway are as wide as three fairways and water is in play on at least half the course. Sand traps were in good shape with plenty of sand. In the winter the course goes close to $200 on weekends so if you can stand the heat now is a great time to experience a course many PGA player found too hard in the wind.

Wife and I always play Native Oaks when we get away to Valley Center. Course in good shape and is just a fun place to play, back nine is as fun as you could ask for, like playing in the middle of a forest. Only bad part was the long par 5 9th had a lot of water damage between 150 and 75 yards into the green. Also the 10Th, a great hole has terrible water damage and has been shortened from being one of the best holes on the course to a mess for now.

Played in 6 man scramble last week, course is in really great shape, unless you count the greens are still not completely healed from some aeration. Bunkers around greens have just enough "Dirt" to be playable, fairway traps are thin "Dirt" and can also be played out of. Would put this one on the level of most public courses in Palm Desert area.

Played Thursday afternoon. First few holes had the Beaumont wind but died down by 3 pm. Course is just OK condition wise, like most rough is up (weeds a lot now) because of all the rain and not being trimmed. Not very green but fairways give mostly good lies. Sand very hit and miss, fairway bunkers very thin and rocky, more sand in green side. Greens are good and at speed where down hill were fast, up hill just right. Conditions on the course do not meet up the the quality of the layout and green fees have moved up like everywhere else. Still very good driving range on grass and course remains popular. This was the easy 18 the other side "Champions" (they open different 18's during the week) is for the better player.

Nice course but fairways on most holes are thin and wet, plays very long right now. Greens are very hard to putt if you have never been here. You want undulating greens here they are almost everyone. Green side bunkers are also hard because of soft sand that most courses do not have right now. We found it a really hard course as first time players here. Need to play it a couple times to score and with wet fairways the White Tees do NOT play like the numbers on the card would make you think.

Lucky we missed the wind Tuesday as we played Rancho Del Sol in Moreno Valley. Just a great day, course is as maybe a little over priced for condition but that is today's cost to play golf. Greens were good, fairways playable, out of fairway not in anything but bad shape. Sand some thin some filled with that fluffy stuff I never get to practice in. Carts are newer and run well and still saw a few guys walking the course (not an easy walk) Two different nines with the Mountain Nine really a fun nine, and plays easier than it looks. a few "are we ever going to get there" par 4's on the front "Valley" nine are there to make the long hitters feel good and us short hitters wishing we made that boogie putt.
