Tee resodding alert..... They are resodding three tees as of today and several more on the Mesa Linda course. The blue tees are way up on those holes. As always the greens are in fabulous shape. The key to avoid slow play out here is to start early. If not, automatic 5 hour round every day of the week.

What a humbling day today. These ultra firm greens are hard to hold a wedge and very difficult to putt on. Anytime you have quick greens with too much po auna in them putting becomes very difficult. A slight deviation of the putter face at impact will cause the ball to slide around and deviate greatly once the ball nears the end of its roll. In the afternoon these greens even became crusty. They really need to soften these up. Front pins are nearly impossible to hit close. The scenery of the surrounding hills is wonderful. The layout allows for some really neat holes. However, I will not play here again unless they make the greens more playable for approaches and for a better roll of the golf ball. The course is much tougher than what the rating and slope indicate due to the greens.

Despite it being a weekend, I was pleasantly surprised by the good time we made it in playing 18 holes. This whole resort is very nice. From the hotel to the golf courses it really is a fabulous place to stay and play. The conditions of both courses are above average to well above average. Even though numerous bunkers, trees, and water come very much into play here the course has eased up a little bit compared to 20 years ago. The pace of play on Mondays will be slow unfortunately due to the "Mega-Monday" deal. On the Ike yesterday I was very disturbed by the countless number of unrepaired ball marks I discovered on most of the greens. The guy from Pittsburgh, whom I was playing with, and I, must have repaired 3 to 8 marks on several greens. There is a certain psychology of a group of golfers who are most of the time the main culprits with this problem. I am convinced that I am right after 28 years of golf and the fact that there was a large group of them right in front of us. The maintenance staff at every course works hard so we can enjoy this great game. It is a slap in the face to them and rude to other golfers when fat mark is on your line. What is in the mind of a player who knowingly leaves this stain on the green????????????

The contrast between fairway and rough is tremendous out here. The fairways need to be a little softer for my liking. The greens get a little bumpy in the afternoon which really is not uncommon for any course. The sand is of good quality and the rough is in superb shape. The normal green fees are very high. I will only play here with the discounted twilight rate. I like the fact that you can easily walk this course. This course has matured very well since it opened over 20 years ago. Lets play in 4 hours!!

This course will test your game. If you hit an errant one just a little and it goes in the native area you won't find it. I have not lost so many balls as I did today in a long long time. You must have command of your golf ball to play well here. While the tees fairways and rough were nice the greens were not. They desperately need to be cut. Thick slow po ana greens are bumpy and inconsistent. I found it impossible to get the right speed. As you can tell I had tough day. Did I mention that it was windy also?

Once again Goose Creek comes through with wonderful conditions. There are not many courses that keep up all aspects of a course than the Goose does. The greens are firm but will soften up once they aerify in a few days. I can walk the course. I am not taking out a loan to play here. The conditions are great. And this course has a nice layout with an assortment of risk/reward holes. For quality and price this is how it is done!!!!! THANK YOU G.C.G.C.!!!!!

Well, well well, I was pleasantly surprised with the improved conditions out here. Of course there is still room for improvement but at least it is better. Is it the rain? Perhaps the course will worsen once the dry weather kicks in. The greens were in good shape and not slow. They will aerify next week one half of each green. I will play here soon instead of 9 to 12 months from now like I have done in the past. way to go RANCHO SAN JOAQUIN!!!!!!!

The condition of the greens really stand out here. The rest of the course is in lousy shape. You will get good practice hitting from bad lies both in the fairway and off. The bunkers are raked leaving huge grooves in the sand, not good. What is good is the green fee. This is just about the cheapest course you will find in Southern California. Therefore, the poor condition of everything except the greens are forgiven by me.

The course is a 3180 yard par 59. I don't play executive courses regularly but I decided to give this one a try because I have never played it before. The greens were in good shape with the rest of the course being fair. Holes 3 thru 8 require you to walk across the street like normal pedestrian would. It was kind of weird with golf bag in hand. The course has quite a few elevation changes giving it a nice feel to it that is not flat and boring. Holes 10 and 18 are very challenging par 3's much tougher to par than the other 16 holes. I won't play it again just because I would rather spend my money on a regulation course. I played with 2 balls, one yellow, and one white. The yellow ball won by 3 shots.

When you have a greenskeeper that knows what they are doing you will have a course that will never disappoint. The new greenskeeper at Alondra, who was hired around 2 years ago, knows what he is doing. I have not been disappointed with the conditions here today and for the past year. Alondra will never reach great status but for the money and given the amount of play it gets it is in good shape.

The greens are in perfect condition. An unrepaired ball mark will stick out like an ugly pimple on these greens. Its mind boggling how on such emaculate greens people still don't fix their marks. The rest is only fair to good. The fairways are a mix of nice grass to dry yellowed out areas. I was very unlucky on Monday the 22nd. I played behind 9 men-4some and 5some-that simply did not know what they were doing. The lead group was 3 to 4 holes behind on the entire back 9. Like most courses the course ranger is useless. I asked nicely for them to speed up but it fell on deaf ears. By far the thing I dislike the most about golf is slow play. In America slow play is rampant. All it takes is a little selfless care to allow others behind you to enjoy their game by being aware of where the group is in front of you and keeping pace.

The course except for the tee boxes is in great shape. This course is packed every day. To keep the greens nice like they are now is impressive. If you want to play in four hours or less you must get an early time or get on the wait list while it is still dark. A weekday is like a weekend and I can't imagine what this place is like when it is Saturday or Sunday. It is an enjoyable, short layout with a few dense trees areas to avoid and some hillsides that you don't want your ball to stay on. The rough was very thick today. And I'm too thick in the belly.....
