We played here yesterday on a perfect golf day. A little breeze, some sun shining through, and a beautiful setting. I haven't played here for many years so didn't remember anything about the course. I think it was redone some time ago and this course is really great. It reminds me of Old Ranch in Seal Beach with the water holes and design but it is in much better condition. Generous fairways and well protected greens were the norm but the design is fair and engaging. Paid $65 and it was well worth it. Can't wait to get back. Everything was in great shape as you would expect from a private course in the OC. A lot of elevated greens with false fronts that made scoring difficult but super fun to play. The fairway grass gives you tight lies but nice to hit from. Play it if you get a chance!

We played Skylinks today teeing off at 7:48 and 7:56 with eight players. Starter was great and got us out on time but it was crowded today for son reason and we had to wait on almost every shot. Not really much fun in 85 degree temps!!! We all got through it and had a nice lunch in the air conditioned restaurant. Food was good and service excellent.
Now to the course.........tees, greens, and bunkers are all in fair shape right now. Bunkers were inconsistent and unraked, tees were level but chewed up on some, and the greens still were a little sandy from aeration but the holes are all healed. I have to say it.....playing muni courses has its pluses and minuses but one thing stands out on most, players just don't care enough to leave the course in better shape then when they arrived. Ball marks were abundant, divots unrepaired were easy to find, and foot prints from human traffic were found in most bunkers. I blame this on a few things but allowing five some certainly doesn't help at all because they almost never can keep pace and leave each hole in shape for the groups that follow. The fairways were quite good however many tight lies are common and lastly the greens will be excellent given another week so don't be discouraged. $46 to walk in a little steep here IMO

Played here today teeing off at 8:44. Perfect day and as you would expect for a Sunday, crowded. Customer service was excellent, we tee off right on time, and although we did wait on quite a few holes, still finished in 4.5 hours. Not bad for a Sunday at prime time. Tons of fun golf holes here make this a go to course and conditions are really good right now. The course is green, tees are level except for a few par three's that are a bit chewed up, bunkers were great, and the greens have recovered from punching and were semi fast maybe about 9.5 on the meter. The $100 price tag is a little steep but you are in Orange County so it could be worse. Really looking forward to returning soon especially with the great conditions and lay out. Thee range is great, we saw the cart girl 2-3 times, and the outdoor patio overlooking the course is awesome!

Played here today with 32 others. It's funny, it has been over a month since the last review and condition are the same. Please look at the last two reviews for currents conditions here. The greens were the highlight for sure. Quick, challenging, and smooth. Very fun to putt but I will add one thing....there is a fungus coming through on some greens with visual spotting. They told me they cannot treat this because of the saturated greens. It didn't effect the putts at all but just looks funny.
Conditions can be much better but the course is still fun and challenging to play.i heard the resort was bought recently by the Hilton chain and plans are being made to upgrade the resort. Not sure if it is true but if it is I think it would be welcomed.

We played here today teeing it up at 7:30 and finishing at 11:30. With many courses aerating now I saw on GK that they were starting today. Called ahead and was told that the punching was starting at noon so jumped at the $55 senior rate and loved every minute of golf today. The greens were pure! Just rolled perfect with no bumps and running semi fast. Everything here is in great shape right now however the bunkers do need sand. It's kind of a bummer that I am giving this course such high marks knowing that by tomorrow it will be full of holes. Oh well, today was a great day and look forward to heading back in a couple weeks after they heal.

We played here yesterday as a five some at 8:00. First off, due to traffic we arrived late and luckily it wasn't that busy so we got out right away. I walked and the others rode the blue tees finishing in under 4.5 hours. This course is not at all tight but it does keep you interested throughout the round. The par threes have some teeth and there is some water in play on a few holes. Conditions are really good right now especially for a muni and considering all the recent rains. I rated everything above average especially compared to Talaga the day before. I paid $33 to walk and it was worth every penny. The greens were excellent and putts moved a lot. Let the driver out on almost every hole and you can score well. This is beginning to be one of my favorite muni's to play based on conditions, not difficulty. We will definetly return soon.

Played here yesterday for the second time. It has been years since my first visit so I didn't remember anything about it. The place has a resort feel to it as soon as you drive in (as you get past the grocery store). We rode the blue tees which were plenty for our group of 11 handicappers. The layout is great but this is not a walkers course! The distant between the greens to tees were lengthy at times. We found the course conditions to be rough at best. I am sure all the rains have a factor in this but to be honest I would want to pay the high asking rates to play here right now. We payed $87 per player which is a little steep for what you get. The fairways were thin, wet, and spotty. The traps were all hard pan and left unraked, and the rough was long and inconsistent. The highlight of the day were the greens. They rolled smooth, semi fast and held shots. I look forward to the next visit here when conditions are better as the layout is super fun with many risk reward holes that keep you engaged.
Oh and one more thing.......we never saw a Marshall or beverage cart all day....could have made good use of both!!!!

Played here on Memorial Day for $53 walking......a little high in my opinion but it was a nice day and with good friends so it was worth it. The course has suffered a bit since I last played due to all the rains. The course drains pretty well for the most part but there were areas on the back nine that were real wet and you needed to take relief from puddles. Conditions on the entire course we're just average and needed attention except the greens. I think they purposely let the greens dry out in preparation for the rains and it worked out great. They rolled great all day and held shots hit well but they were still firm. Chips really ran out if you didn't hit it right. Repairing ball marks were minimal due to the firmness and we all loved the smooth surfaces as a result. In defense to the maintenance crew, there wasn't much they could do to the rest of the course as wet as it has been, but the greens made this a great day. Play well and enjoy

We played here today and last review writer was spot on. Great layout, really fun to play, the greens were great and the course was soggy. We wish we we behind his group though, the groups in front of us were slow and we finished in just over 5 hours....oh well I could be at work or stuck in traffic so with carts allowed on the cart paths only I was okay with it. A real fun day and I look forward to returning to Old Ranch. Not a great ball striking day so want to have another crack at this place!

Back out at Los Robles today at 8:30. We finished in 4 hours walking as a foursome. The course is very green and is in great overall shape for a public course. Depending on your tee selection, this course can jump out and bite you if you aren't on your game. There is a lot of water saving habitat areas that come into play if you miss the fairways and greens and you will need to hit all kinds of different shots to get it close. The fairways were nice but a little patchy, the sand traps were nice, and the tees boxes level. THE GREENS were very nice and rolled true however if you had a downhill putt watch out! Some putts we hit missed by an inch and picked up pace after the hole. A couple holes were almost unfair but you just needed to keep the ball under the hole....afterward we had a nice lunch with great service so the day was great for us all. Recommend the course and pick your tees wisely.

Played AG yesterday with 12 of us to end the year. We teed off right on time and finished in 4.5 hours. Everyone enjoyed themselves however scoring was difficult. With fast greens and tight lies being the norm, accompanied by a little chilly wind, bogeys we common. The fairways are dormant right now but very playable, the tee boxes are always level, and the greens were real nice and held crisp hit shots. Also great was the $55 senior rate given on-line. The bunkers had good sand but lies were inconsistent due to the lack of raking by players.
We did experience a few problems though, the range was sanded and all chewed up and after 9 holes on a chilly morning the snack bar didn't have coffee made. How does that happen? Also, we all wanted to have lunch together and found that the restaurant is now closed on Mondays. Oh well, still a nice way to end 2018!! Happy New Year.

Rio is usually my "go to" course for a number of reasons...….pace is usually great, conditions are above normal, customer service is great, and the course layout is fun and fair to play. We played here yesterday at 8am with no waiting on a beautiful day. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we all thought the course was in decent shape however, we have seen it in much better. With the recent rains it appears the course has taken a little beating especially the fairways which we all found to be a little spotty. The greens rolled true and were at a decent pace and everything else was typical Rio...…..we will return!
