Never expect a quick twilight round at SJHills on the weekend. It's always 5+ hours. Great course, but no fun on the weekends due to slow play.

Awesome conditions! Greens were immaculate! Very lush. Only thin fairway was #8...and that's just in the landing area. For whatever reason, they've never been able to get grass to grow there. A must play.

Great course in great shape. Some killer par 3's. Greens were in great shape except for #5 (lots of ball marks and some bald spots; bumpy. Fairways perfect. Kinda slow play, but no biggie. Snowcapped mountains make a stunning backdrop. Too bad they're punching on sunday!

Unfortunately, S. Clemente is doing major aeriation. Whole front nine is temporary greens. Stay away for a month. bummer.

Shorecliffs is always my last choice. Got stuck there yesterday (tourney at San Juan; green aerification at San Clemente). Customer service was great. Very accomodating. Got me out as a walk on in less than 10 minutes. Which tells you about the course....it's a goat pasture. Always has been. Tough little course. Really makes you think. Lots of target golf. No rough to speak of. Lots of weeds. Tee boxes were mostly dirt and sand. But, the greens were in very nice shape. Slick and hard. Would only recommend as a very last resort.

Course lush and in awesome shape. Only complaint (and it's always my complaint) is the bunkers. They're either deep with beach sand and impossible to hit out of or thin with dirt. It'd be nice if there were some uniformity. Great deal. Nice staff. Good value.

Best conditions I've seen at Tijeras Crk in months.

Man, horrible conditions. Greens were bumpy. Fairways were non-existent. Bunkers were decent, along with tee boxes. Easy to walk. Some tough par 3's (two big uphill ones with severely sloping greens). Don't pay more than $30! Pretty sad, cuz it's right in middle of Irvine. It could be a high class joint and get away with charging big $. Jim, the starter, got us out in the middle of the men's club so we could get done before it rained. Cool cat.

Course in fair enough shape today. Greens are very wet. They spread ammonia sulfate (?; white granules that green up your lawn!) on all the greens and therefore soaked all the greens. but, only really affected putting on a few holes. on #5 par three the regular blue tees are being resodded as is the tee box on #16. good pace of play. staff was polite and accomodating (i was a single, got me out in no time with another single). fairways were cut tight. we played in under four hours.

Played today (1/21). Decent pace. They were behind due to frost delay in morning. They were good about working everyone in. Conditions are okay. #8 fairway has lots of ruts and dead spots. Greens were in good shape. Lack of rain takes it's toll. This place was super lush last winter. They raised their rates ($35 to walk on week days; $68 and must ride on weekends). It's not worth $68. Customer service was great; as usual. Cart girl was ever present and super pleasant!-

Played Thursday, 1/19. Fairways were dormant with clumps of weeds throughout. They stopped overseeding here a few years back (the fairways). Rough and greenside areas were lush; they were letting it grow long for the Tustin City Championships which were today (Saturday). Greens were in good shape. It is not worth $105! My friend is in Men's club so we played for $50. Back nine holes are more interesting than the front. I'd go back. It's nice they allow you to walk.

It's too bad some have mentioned having a hard time with customer service at this course. I've never encountered a problem. I play the course at least twice a month (creek card holder). Everyone has always been courteous. We played today under awesome blue skies with crystal clear vistas of the surrounding hills and snowcapped mountains. At many spots, it was like looking at a fake backdrop. Course is in decent shape. It was cart path only due to wet conditions, but it was so hot today (mid 80s) and windy the course dried out and the marshall politely advised us halfway through our round that we could drive on the fairways. That helped speed things up considerably. Fairways were a little long on some holes (#1 through 4; 6 and 8) but the whole back nine the fairways were freshly cut. There were lots of maintanence workers mowing (probably the first mow since the rain last week). Greens were a little hit and miss. #9 green had a bunch of dead spots, but other areas of the green were nice. Many of the greens had spots from healing ball marks. But, overall, they weren't horrific. Tee boxes were a little beat up, especially on the par threes. On #16, back tee boxes are closed for major healing so it only played 135 yards from a tee box that would be better described as a patch of dirt. Bunkers could use some machine grooming. But, considering it'd rained two inches there just three days ago, conditions were just fine. And, we saw the cart girl three times, which is good. And, no, I don't work at the course!
