Had a late day Harding time for 1150am.

Check in is such a hassle at Griffith. I understand the Covid and all, but the check ins are vastly
different between the courses over the city and counties, some you can putt, some you can hit balls others you cant make eye contact. Hopefully, things will go back to normal soon.

Hit the first tee for the usual Harding.

Course was in good shape although there was a lot of water throughout the fairways. Like that
nasty soggy and some were mixed in with old tire marks so that makes it more helpful to play.
Again, its hot and it gets too dry people will complain so I guess they're stuck as well.

Tee boxes are hit and miss. Some are fine and others are so hard you'll look like an 1800's railroad worker trying to put a tee in.

The rough is the rough at GP and around the greens is just so tough, the kikuyu is super
tricky when it gets warm out there. It looks fluffy and fun then Boom! Your club head disappears in the abyss of two chips, duffed shots or bladed glory.

Sand traps, I was only in the 15th's sand. The one on the right sucks. Not a little but a lot. Its sorta like sand and sorta like soft dirt, like they used up the good sand on Wilson and left the balance of gopher dirt in the trap.

Greens. They were fine and medium speed. They rolled well and the breaks were mild, a couple of challenging pins but whatever.

Harding is in good shape just a little water logged in spots. POP was good we finished in 4h15m

Harding is in really nice condition. The fairways are good with some dry spots but its also
California in the middle of summer. The rough around the greens is a killer. Again, the Kikuyu
makes look like its the fluffiest lie then before you know it you'll TC Chen the hole. The rough around the greens is just frustrating at times. Also, not missing greens could solve this problem.

Greens, the greens were nice and smooth today. even later day foot traffic the greens were nice, Its funny to see the big difference between Harding and Wilsons greens. Harding looked more for the taking yet the breaks were so subtle and confusing.

Excellent day for golf and another solid round in the books.

Played Harding on 6/5 two groups going out around 10am

They are allowing two people at a time to go in and pay for their round. They call you up approximately 15 minutes prior to your tee time. You pay for range balls at the ball drop machine. They have a cool new range toy where it can track your ball flight and provide you with all of your information. May have to come back and play with that. Putting and chipping areas remain closed.

Course was in great shape, fairways were incredible, ball sitting up perfectly. Greens had some minor punching but rolled very true although a little slow.

Love the layout of this course, need to play strategically to score well. 18th hole is a great finishing hole running along side the LA Zoo.

every time we play, we always ask ourselves why don't we play here more often.

Played Harding on Saturday with two friends and rode from the blue tees with a 10:36 tee time. Groups were spread out nicely and we finished in just over four hours so that was ideal.

No range time as they said it was closed but I saw people out there later so no idea what happened there. No point in getting to the course early as the putting area is also closed and they will call your name ten minutes before you tee off and that's when you pay inside.

Course is in very nice shape right now and was really fun to play on a gorgeous day. Really nice and green fairways with occasional thin areas but few and far between. Rough is very playable and provides a good cushion. Tee boxes are just okay but the greens are in very nice shape, rolling medium fast and holding shots well. Not a ton of ball marks out there either and good coverage - nice work by the grounds crew.

Was only in one bunker on hole 16 and the sand was a bit thin but playable. Overall though, the course is in very solid shape and will probably get a lot of action in the coming weeks.

Snack shop at the turn was closed but there was a mobile stand there for drinks and snacks -that was a nice touch. I always enjoy the layout at Harding and think 18 is a fantastic closing hole to finish off a really nice day.

Pleasantly surprised that Harding stayed open for my Friday March 20 round. While they have implemented many of the Covid-19 practices, there are still some disturbing flaws in the system. Had to physically interact with the credit card machine twice in a single transaction and they provided no way to disinfect afterward. They have done some measures to keep people apart in the clubhouse but then I found myself having to push by a person on two to exit. The snack bar is open but again no way to disinfect after touching the various doors and items you need to touch to get something to eat or drink. You could head to the bathroom right afterward I guess but I didn't see either of the two people I saw go in there do that. I just got a report from one of them on what was going on inside. After the round, there were about 40 people all around and on the putting greens, it was way too crowded and also seemed like a mistake.

Course was wonderfully green overall. Greens had small punch holes in them but it didn't seem to affect the line on medium speed greens. Bunkers probably aren't the highlight here and a semi-dry rain soaked version of them is even less desirable. Rough and fairways were mostly good. The real issue was where grass had been previously dead or missing. You would have a 1 inch high patch of healthy grass riddled with cracks of dead or missing grass. Probably should have been labeled GIR but even if you played it like that you could get some strange hops from any ball rolling through sections of that type of area. Once this all fills in - it will be pure joy to play here.

Overall, so happy to get out of the house and play on a fun course with beautiful surroundings (minus freeway).

Played here Monday 1-13 with fellow GK'er Tony Barret and his brother in law Ray. We Teed off about 10:15 and the pace of play was about 4 1/2 hours. We played at a very leisurely pace and had a great time. Nice warm day with no wind.
The course is in good winter condition with the fairways mostly good coverage with a few thin spots. The rough was short and no troble getting out of.
I was in a few bunkers and they were a mixed bag. Some nice sand and some pretty thin but playable.
The greens ran at medium speed but had way too many unrepaired ball marks.
They now have a food truck at the clubhouse and they had pretty good breakfast burritos and sandwiches'
Overall a good day and we will be returning to play Wilson in a couple of weeks

Got out Sunday, 11/10 around 11:30 as a threesome on a really nice, not overly warm day. They seemed to be doing reseeding type work on some of the tee boxes, so most of the markers were moved a few yards ahead of the respective monuments. Usually not a big shift and the hitting areas were pretty level with good coverage, so thumbs up on the tees. Fairways were nice hitting surfaces on the whole, also with coverage tight enough to give some good rollout. There were scattered browned areas and isolated wet spots. At one point, I ended up in a small area of shallow standing water, took my drop and played on — no biggie. The 16th fairway was the exception in that there was an extended stretch in the vicinity of the 150 mark that was soggy — mostly playable but a little squishy. Rough varied a little between somewhat punitive to not punitive at all and was pretty green except for some bare ground in the tree lines. I missed the bunkers but they looked clean and seemed firm based on observing my companions' results. The greens were in very good shape and actually running pretty quick — fair and challenging. The light breeze early in the round faded to still by the end of the round and the temps fell off a bit, so the nice conditions early became beautiful conditions by the finish, with the sun's angle lowering. Pace was steady and surprisingly good. With minimal waiting I think we finished our loop in something around 4 hrs. A very enjoyable round, I would definitely recommend it for the overall conditions.

October 20 2019 LA City Senior Tournament. It was a two day event to play both courses- a well ran tournament. Both days were a beautiful conducive day for golf with a nice blue skies with temperatures in the low to mid 70s and a very light wind. No one had any excuses as for the weather. It was a great weekend. Course conditions here on Harding is better than the usual for the past ten years or so. The greens were smooth although it didn’t putt anywhere close to fast. It was spongy and receptive and easy to chip in to as ot didn’t roll much. If you can spin the ball, it will check easily. This is a much different greens condition than anything in the high desert, Las Vegas, or the lower desert- Palm Springs. These are not firm greens at all- it looks like bent grass not Bermuda grass also although I am not an expert. Bunkers were filled with sand (thumbs up), the fairways were mowed close. Most had some roll and ran, some were over watered leaving muddy areas in puddles and some areas prevented the rolls- frustrating. The teeing grounds were fine and it was a pleasure to tee it near or on the markers. The kikuyu rough was not that tall although it was still tough to play from. All in all it was a pleasure to play in. The staff were great and helpful. The tournament committee were great although they dropped the ball from emailing a few people for the re scheduled tee time the following day, but no big deal. I’ll give it another chance next year. Hopefully, the courses here would continue to improve their conditions. Although being it’s a city course I have my doubts but I hope I’m wrong. (The current conditions of Wilson & Harding course are much the same @ this time)

It was Saturday 09.07.19 our tee time was 09:20 on time. Sunny, humid but not terribly hot with very little wind at times made it a good walk on the course. My friend carried and I took a push cart with. Never letting the group ahead out of sight, but still ended up in a 5 hour round- no surprises and as expected. Nothing special about the conditions of this course other than it is playable and not bad. The greens were medium slow and you might fix a few ball marks, but it's not bad. They were soft and receptive on approaches. The bunkers around the greens have sand/dirt but it works. The fairways are okay, you might see different types or ununiformed types of grass and uneven growth but again, it works. The teeing grounds are okay they are level and not chewed up from the back tees. the roughs are either thick or thin with kikuyu and will be tough to get out of from those healthy areas. It's just a good enough condition to play a match in. $42 to walk (what is that just a little over a couple of bucks per hole?). I'm not submitting to the 5 hour round, but if that's the only place I could meet a friend for a round without much planning, I could do this once in a while. The staff at pro shop were fine, there are no beverage cart. What/where do the water on their little pool/lake come from? ...extra brown/green and foaming. ugh! On the 18th, same brown water from the zoo flows across the 18th fairway in an open gutter. Hmm... yuck!
