Played 3/24. Not a big fan. Food and pro shop guy good. Putting green/chipping with an enclosed driving net about 30yards deep. Greens well kept, a little slow. Sand excellent, plenty of it, a little heavy, but no rocks and probably will be nice and fluffy in summer. Fairways still pretty dormant and thin. Rough very spotty from thick clumps to bare to normal. Marigolds and daisies growing in some of the rough. Tees while "level" need to be rolled, pretty bumpy. Decent GPS with ticker of sports scores at bottom. Problem is it kept beeping at us on par 3s to allow the next group to hit up. Problem was the first par 3 they weren't yet behind us and second par 3 we were already done. Mildly annoying because it kept doing it. Hole 16 is a cool hole, nice looking par 3 up against mountains. Not to hilly for what you may think of for the area with decent views of the surrounding mountains. Many tight fairways and some blind shots or should I say," where the heck am I supposed to be aiming?" shots.
My problem with this course is its American Golf. A 5+ hour round with dangerous golfers is not my idea of a good day. 2 Marshals sat atop a hill where they could see four or five holes and were there our entire way through just BSing. Play was very very slow and the back and forth fairways caused a lot of ducking behind our carts because people were constantly hitting out of our fairways. The group behind us was so bad that we constantly waited for them to clear our fairway, after waiting for groups in front of us, then getting hit into by them while we were waiting for the greens to clear. Almost had some incidents. One time a different group from the other adjacent fairway hit a bad shot out of OUR fairway so dropped ANOTHER ball in OUR fairway to hit again. Are you kidding me!? And they allow fivesomes of drunk morons out there too.
Don't think for a minute this isn't a regular occurrence here. I'm sure it is, especially from my conversation with another group that played here a lot.
This isn't an awful course though, just not my preference, it just seems to be typical of all the courses in this area which is why I drive to the IE or Palm Springs every weekend.

Played San Dimas on 2/7 (Thur.) around 11. POP is always an issue here, for our threesome, I consider our 4.75 hour round good, tell you anything about POP? Our group had a discussion about why POP play here is so bad, one said fivesomes are allowed, I say it is incorrect club selection. I am not a long hitter, yet I only use driver on one of the par 5's, the other par 5's have short dog legs, that require less club, otherwise you will be driving blind and searching for your ball. Wheather it's fivesomes or club selection or something else, I do not reccomend this course, if you are going out with less than a foursome.

This course is always in very good condition, always plenty of real sand, level T's, and right now excellent greens.

Trip and the rest of the crew here are very friendly and accomodating, with the exception of the bar service, rather have a drink somewhere else.

All in all, a great course, grab a foursome and have fun.

Played here on 1/19/13. Tee time was 8:28am but got out closer to 9am. On top of that, they jam as many people in as possible. This made for a ridiculously long round of more waiting than playing(6+hrs) and it's not a long course. The only nice aspect of this course is the condition of the greens. They are fast and smooth, however, by the placement of the pins you would think it was Sunday at the US Open. Four or five were placed on crests of hills or in the middle of a severe slope so that if you didn't drill the cup, your ball would slowly trickle back 12 feet towards you. To make things worse, people were not giving up after a few failed attempts at bunker hill. This resulted in a huge backup on the par threes. Imagine one group refusing to pick up, one group 50 yards from the tee box(80 yards to the green) waiting to hit on from a failed tee shot, one group waiting to tee off, and three groups spectating from carts waiting in line. Can you say cluster F? The layout is also frustrating. Did I mention the wait is at the intersection of holes 1,2,7,8,17, and 18 - yes, you read that right. You can imagine the chatter that goes on with this many people waiting around. Great practice for distractions when your at the Open this year. Add to this some narrow fairways, blind water, severe doglegs with no distinction between rough and fairway to guide you, and bizarre fairway tree placements that will penalize good tee shots and you have San Dimas. Some highlights: cart lady came around plenty of times, sand in bunkers was soft and fluffy, again, greens were in nice condition, and gps in carts is a bonus. One note about the gps, it didn't show distance to the group ahead and that is crucial during slow play. Also, the sponsorship message after every hole that you have to click ok to is a bit much. Funny thing, after paying my buddy noticed that on the receipt they offer a discount for your next round. Now I know why. They need every reason to get you to come back. Personally, I don't care if it's free. I won't drive out there to subject myself to that again. There are much better courses, stay away unless you're prepping for the Open.

The bunkers have good soft sand.
The greens are in very nice shape with very few ball marks. I would say medium quick.
Now the bad part!
I called the course early Sat. Morning to see if they had a frost delay and was told that they on time and that they had no tournaments. I booked a 10:15 tee time online. Now I expected that my round would be about 5 hours. When I arrived about 10:00 I was told they were not ready to check me in? As a single I expected to be matched up with another group and because they do fivesomes I was not expecting the delay. I finally got out at 11:00 and was behind at least 8 groups of women which really looked like a tournament to me. We proceeded to wait on every hole! On a couple of the par threes we were the second group waiting. The round took 6:15 and we barely finished before it got dark. I found out later that some coworkers were about 5 holes behind me and they walked off after 13 holes. This morning I received an email thanking me for playing the day before and I replied with pretty much the same review. It will be interesting to see if I get any response

Played this morning around 7. Teed off on-time or very close to it. Course is in very good condition. Greens are very quick and well maintained. Fairways were very lush and rough wasn't too thick. I wasn't in any bunkers but it seemed like it was in at least decent condition. Tee boxes were mostly level except for a couple holes and had plenty of grass.

Finished in about 4.5 hours, although the 5some behind us seemed to be lagging a little.
The GPS in the carts is a definite plus as well.

Greens are still healing up from being punched here. Will get a bump or two on most putts, so may want to give it some more time. Fairways are pretty nice overall, as are the bunkers and rough. Tee... Continue »

Greens are still healing up from being punched here. Will get a bump or two on most putts, so may want to give it some more time. Fairways are pretty nice overall, as are the bunkers and rough. Tee boxes were worked on last month and are getting much better. Pace is usually a problem here, but came out at 2:30 with the high school team to play the front 9 and it went just over 2 hours. This is a fun course when it isn't packed, and can usually find a good deal through the email club.

Greens were recently punched half a few weeks ago and half last week. 1st set healing great, 2nd half should be smooth in another week or 2.
The tee boxes are the main concern as they begun working on them all and right now are terrible. I am sure they will be nice when they are done, but it looks like that wont be for some time. So if you complain about tee boxes, stay away for a few weeks at least.
Fairways and rough are good, easy to hit from, but nothing memorable, although not bad. Typical decent public course style. Bunkers were nice and soft.
Will be back with them every week, as it is a steal for $7 walking to play as mch as you can get in, and definitely at least 9.

Nice course in great shape right now. The folks behind the counter are patient & courteous, the snack bar's service & food is wonderful. The greens are pretty consistent, ran into a couple that for some reason were a lot slower than the others. Super good value, I enjoy playing this course. Only negative, and it's minor- tee boxes are not all level, and a few are pretty beat up. The course seems to recognize this a they are re-building a few of them. In the mornings, please watch your speed going in- San Dimas Sheriffs typically patrol San Dimas Canyon Rd & Terrabone.

Had not played here for five years, and was very impressed with the overall condition of the course. Our tee time was 11am and we teed off right on time, following a twosome in a cart. We were a 4 some walking and we were able to get around without any waiting in just a hair under 3 1/2 hours. It was hot (93*) but because we never had to stand around, and there was a steady breeze, didn't seem that bad.

This course has never been one of my favorites, but still had a nice time, despite playing rather poorly.
