Played 3/25 in a match play event. We managed to play 12 holes before it started raining and even then it was manageable. They had a men's club tourney after us and the pin placements were brutal. The greens were very firm and it was difficult to hold even middle irons. The greens rolled beautifully, medium fast even in the early wet conditions. Word was they held Mid Amateur qualifying last week and they are punching the greens this week. I think the greens were as firm as they get. The fairways were good and the rough was okay. Overall, the conditions were superior in the muni category.

Played 3/11 with GK'er Chaptowngolfteam. Tee'd off at 6:20am under the generator lights for the first 2 holes. Pretty cool that that is an option to get out before the sun comes up. Course was really fun with a traditional layout, big trees and fairly small greens on some holes. Tee boxes had recently been sodded and the sod wasn't taking and was really thin and dying, they were however fairly level or at least able to find a level spot to hit from. Fairways and rough varied from thin to semi lush. Greens were a little hard and released with the exception of a couple that seemed to be softer and hold shots and bunkers including fairway bunkers were in great shape. It was early so they were a little wet and heavy but the sand was nice and soft the couple times I found them. I really enjoyed the course but I guess it gets pretty busy so I would only play very early also I don't think this course would be worth the full price so maybe try to find a deal before playing.

Played this morning, 7:30 tee time. Played as a twosome with fellow GK'er fasteddieboy, 4 hour round. Greens were in good shape, rolling pretty fast, and hard, not very receptive to incoming shots, many rolled off the edges, and chips really rolled out. Tee boxes in pretty good condition, as were the bunkers. Fairways were typical So Cal winter condition, hard and fast. Lots of unrepaired divots though, both fasteddieboy and myself ended up in a few that resulted in what we thought were good tee shots turned into hit and pray second shots.

A marshall actually asked us if we wanted to play through the group in front of us, refreshing to see them having their eye on pace of play, as it seems most marshalls these days just cruise around and wave hi to everyone!

A little drizzle here and there and some wind made playing from the 6800-ish yard blue tee's feel a little longer than usual, but all around a good day on a pretty good course.

Played on friday the 13th. Greens were in good condition but a little bumpy due to foot traffic. Fairways a little dried out due to lack of rain and watering. Bunkers I've been in, seems to have nice firm sand. Great day to play golf, with no wind and clouds in the sky.

Played early morning, this course is decent, the greens are firm and the ball likes to roll out. Most holes you want to stay below the hole. The fairways are hit and miss as to the lie you will get. Same with the rough. Sand was plenty and nicely raked most of the time. A good challenge and good pace of play as we got out before the crowd on the weekend. The tip given on the greens was that they tend to break towards the rose bowl, boy was that ever true! Subtle breaks that you could not see.

Played Brookside #1 on Saturday 12/3. 110 trees were lost on both courses due to the winds last week. Most of the debris was removed from the fairways. It was a mess off the fairways. We pushed no one and no one pushed our foursome. It was a nice 4 1/2 hour round. The staff acted like they were appreciative we came to play. The course was in good condition. A nice round.

I play here almost every week ($18.00 to walk) and the course is in good condition. Pace of play today just over four hrs. (7 am t-time). I think we may have waited once on the second hole. They will be punching the greens aroung the 24th when course #2 has healed.

Have not played here for a while. I expected the faiways to be much worse, given the Rose Bowl parking situation, but they were actually reasonably good. The greens were very nice - rolled pretty true... Continue »

Have not played here for a while. I expected the faiways to be much worse, given the Rose Bowl parking situation, but they were actually reasonably good. The greens were very nice - rolled pretty true. Course was very crowed even at 6am?. I find that as I get older, Brookside's long par 4s are beginning to play like par 5s. Maybe its time to move up?
