Played today and it will be the last time playing here. Scheduled a tee time for 12:30 as the online booking showed light traffic. Check in was a nightmare. Not only did the guy behind the counter not have a clue in performing his duties, but the 4 some checking in was totally unprepared to even check in? I said to the clerk "I hope they play faster than they check in"? Little did I know my prophecy would be true? After 4.5 hours my group had only played 15 holes (and we left at that point). I saw several carts that said "ambassador" on them riding around, but not one of them acknowledged our request to come talk to us? The tee boxes are terrible. The fairways are in poor shape. The bunkers are not in decent playable shape. The greens are like concrete. Why in the world would anyone put up with these type of conditions, is beyond me. Customer service was deplorable. If this is the best the City of Pasadena can provide its residents, then they obviously could care less and have no idea on how to run/maintain a golf complex. BTW I would have rated it, but it was not worth a rating.

played here 4/14/18 at right around 6 am, before a GC Am event. finished in less than 4 hours which was great. conditions spotty, greens super fast but also super inconsistent. some very firm, some soft. never knew how ball would release hitting into them. i think they cut & Rolled them too tight for the GC Am event and as a result, greens lost their hold a bit. like most muni's in the area, course should have more GUR areas in fairways as they aren't consistent enough

Greens are firm and fast. Spoke to the Super this week who told me that there are no plans to aerate the Koiner greens until the week of the musical festival in June.

Played Saturday, Oct 14th. Booked as a 3-some with a 12:20 time. Got to starter and first tee was delayed and didn’t get to tee off till 12:50. Conditions: fairways were thin to completely dried out in spots...likely due to the course’s use as a parking lot for UCLA games. Rough was pretty much non-existent in most places due to water conservation efforts. Sand traps seemed good...found myself only in one but they looked ok. Greens and tee boxes were in decent shape. Many greens had unrepaired ball marks. PoP was atrocious...just over 6 hours. Favorably, with the golfzing player club...pricing was a more reasonable $24 as opposed to the standard $60 or so. Not worth it at that price.

POP was as expected for a tourney of this type, lot of players from good ones to just out for fun types. All in all a fun time

Course - tee boxes not level with unsanded divots, fairways were decent with a few thin spots. Rough was about 2" abut the ball settled in and at times hard to find. Bunkers - did not play out of any since it was a scramble format. Greens were fast, bumpy, lot of ball marks, some were from previous day or two.

Customer was good, welcomed us, and treated us pretty good. Usual chicken/veggie dinner :)

Played 8/22/2017...tee'd off @ 4:35PM. $13 Player Club round but opted to walk as opposed to using the included cart. Our twosome got paired with a single walker as well. Most of the tee boxes we in decent shape, a couple you needed to work around to find a level spot. Some fairways had some pretty bald spots and in need of some TLC. Traps were ok for a muni course...somewhat sandy with some pebbles. PoP was decent...we didn't really hit any bottle necks during our round...was able to get 16 holes completed in 3.5 hours before darkness took over. 17th tee was under renovation so a makeshift tee box was set about 105 yards out in the middle of the fairway. Some greens were a mess with ball marks galore.

Nice that the lakes and water features have water now. I remember before the rains they were running a bit low.

It had been a few years since I last played here, so was excited to return. Always a "big" golf course for me. (Because I play the wrong tee boxes, I'm sure) I was surprised and delighted how nice the greens were. They rolled great and were very receptive to my shots. Fairways were just OK. I was in two bunkers, both were fine.

I arrived at 5:15 and there were people already out on the course, but I got out right away as a single and after playing through a walking foursome on #2, it was smooth sailing, until #10. Starter said that they stopped sending people off the back at 6:45, but they were lined up to go as I finished #9. Had to wait until the tee cleared, then waited almost the entire back side. Still able to finish in under 3 hours. Cold at the start (45 degrees) but warmed up nicely by the time I returned the sticks to the trunk

Played 3-27-17 on a Teeoff deal for $13.50 joining a twosome and finishing in a little under 4 hours. Tee boxes were okay, mostly level and a little thin. Fairways were in descent shape, semi-lush with some brown areas and some small bare spots. Rough was not that long and a little patchy with some different types of grass and bare spots. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that had nice firm sand. Greens were in pretty good shape rolling fast but a little bumpy. I always liked this course, nothing real exciting but just a good solid course.

I rarely play Brookside on the weekends largely because of the crowd and the price but I played today (Sunday) as I was advised we could get the SCGA rate. Played with some friends and we had two tee times starting at 7:00. One of my buddies just payed and mentioned he got the SCGA rate which was $45 to walk. I immediately went up there to pay and was told by the starter that the SCGA rate is no longer and went away Dec. 31. Huh? I mentioned that my friend just got the rate. He ignored the question but it became clear that he was just helping my friend out. I didn’t want to make a big fuss about the person he helped out as he is a very good friend of mine. Just didn’t like the starter’s indignant, arrogant response when I asked about it. Regardless, I was charged $60 to walk. That is a bit steep for a muni in my opinion but one needs to understand this course is managed by American Golf. Don’t need to say anything more! The course is in very good condition however. The rain made the fairways lush. There are bare spots out there but not many. The rough has gotten much better. Some hard pan but quite a bit of it is getting filled in with grass. The greens were very nice. We all knew that would hold good shots because they were soft but they also rolled true. Sand traps were really nice. Looks like they have all been redone with new sand and they are all in good shape. Pace of play was around 4.5 hours. A little slow but I guess that the pace for a Sunday morning at Brookside. It was pretty crowded out there and shortly after our round, there was a college match going on. Nice to see these young guys blasting it out there. Except for the customer service, I really don’t have many negative comments. It’s a long, challenging course and it played a bit played longer with the damp conditions. It does have a nice layout. A good combination of long and short holes with tree lined fairways. Not good to miss fairways here as you are likely to play through some rather large trees. I had a good time and also had a good lunch afterwards but it’s definitely overpriced.
