Course is in good shape as they get ready for the Long Beach Open. Greens are fast and smooth. Fairways in pretty good shape. Pace of play on weekends is an issue. This is the second time I played here and both times we got out 1/2 hour late and the round lasted about 6 hours.

As much as I like to spread the news of good golf course conditions, I would also like to keep this one on the down low. Walked on early Friday ($40) and finished in 4 hrs. El Do is at its best, simply stated. Grass range is opened Fri-Sun. Think I'll play here every Friday until the end of summer.

Course is looking great right now. The only thing I have to add to the past few reviews is that the course just did a very shallow verticut in the past couple days. It didn't affect the roll of the greens at all though as they were rolling great! Very happy with the conditioning and it's probably in the best shape that I've ever seen it. Well done El Dorado!

On the way back from OC took the chance to see if I could get out around 1PM. Starter put me right out at 1:15 and POP was 4.5 hours. I can see why everyone likes this course. It is old style with plenty of trees and somewhat smaller greens than other courses. You have to think yourself around this course to score well. The course is in great shape. Fairways provided good lies; greens rolling with good speed and bunkers in good shape. The customer service is excellent and I noticed a marshal monitoring the play throughout my round and the beverage cart making the rounds several times. They also put the snack bar and restrooms in a strategic location giving you access to both from several holes. Great golf course and one I will frequent more often.

I have not played here for about three years, but have been playing here off and on since 1970. The course was in the best condition I have seen in a very long time, in fact I thought the greens were the best I have ever seen them.

Overall, very pleased with the conditioning. Pace of play was OK - for El Dorado. Got off on time and finished in about 4:20 Not too bad for this course on a mid day round.

Walked on this past Friday as a single at 6am, on the tee in 10 minutes, $40 walking, PoP around 4:15. Course is good condition and the greens were excellent, rolled quick and true ... Poa at it's best. I've found that on Friday mornings, the maintenance crew has every thing picked up, mown, and bunkers are at their best. Easy to get on, too. I'll be back.

Got out today at 7:30 and buzzed around the course in about 4 hours 20 minutes. My thoughts pretty much echo the last two reviews, which is amazing considering how bad El Dorado had it a few months ago.

Fairways are 100% back to normal after being borderline unplayable in in the winter due to frost damage. Kikuyu is healthy and very consistent with just a few burned out patches here and there.
Rough isn't long, but with kikuyu it really doesn't matter. Stay in the short stuff and you won't have to visit it!
Greens looked great with limited ball mark damage. Very receptive and quick downhill. They are holding lines very well right now and I don't think I had a single putt bounce off line all day which is amazing for Poa.
Bunkers had good sand, but were damp and didn't appear like they had been raked that morning.
Tee boxes were a bit chewed on the par 3s with #3 being the worst but you could still find plenty of level grass to hit from.

Overall, ElDo has done a 180 from about 4-5 months ago and is in very good shape right now. The price ($38 walking) pretty much fits the conditions. Can't wait to see what they do to it come Long Beach Open time. The superintendent could make this course a beast if he really wanted to and current conditions would definitely allow him to do it.

A little busier at that time, but POP was 4 hrs for us. 5 some in front of us only played the front 9, some kind of mini tournament according to front desk. $42 senior rate is about the right price, Beer was a bit overpriced after our round, but it was cold.

Played at 7:20 am this morning. The course was pretty deserted. A group went out about 25 minutes before us and there was no one before them for at least 10 minutes (when I got to the course). I was in a group of 3 singles. We played in 3.5 hours. We played through the group in front at the turn (we caught them on 5) and hit the rest of the early crowd on 14. At that point, we had two holes on the group behind us.

The course was in excellent condition. The fairways are in about as good a condition as I have seen them. Saw few if any bare spots. The rough was a factor and a few times it took a while to find a ball in it. I was only in a couple of bunkers and they had plenty of sand. The tee boxes were relatively level. On 11, there was a sprinkler head in the tee area, which made no sense to me, but otherwise the tees were nice. The greens looked like they had just had a verticut but they were running true and medium speed. They were softer than they were last year.

I am told the course has a relatively new greenskeeper. If so, he is doing a great job. The course conditions are markedly better than they were much of last year.
