Played Friday, August 30. Had a tee time around 10, but didn't actually tee off until half an hour after. Course was in pretty good shape except for a few beat up tee boxes. Greens were relatively fast, but many were riddled with ball marks. Pretty much the standard municipal course, decent conditions, but a very slow round. Starting from our scheduled tee time took 6 hours

Played on the 3rd. Starter told us they were running about 10 minutes behind but it was closer to 20 to 25 minutes. Greens here are usually great for a muni, they were still quick but were bumpy and had a lot of divot damage. Quick and bumping aren't a good combination, tough to make any putts. Fairways, rough, tee boxes, and sand were all average. With the delay starting the round we finished a little more than 5 1/2 hours after our tee time (long round).

The course itself was in decent condition. While generally lush, there were bare spots in the fairways. The rough was okay but not really a factor. I was not in any bunkers so I can't comment on them. The tee boxes were also okay. Some uneven spots, some more chewed up than others, but you could usually find a decent spot for tee shots. The greens were not as fast as I have seen them but they were still the class of the course. They rolled true.

Overall, I have seen the course in better condition. It was still in good condition and an enjoyable course to play.

Although they do allow 5 somes...and it has a ton of play...it is in great condition for the amount of play it gets....some tough holes and some easy ones..but it can be a challenge. They even have a marshall that helps move folks around...green fees are decent . The sand traps need to be more consistant...some were good and some needed some filling of more sand. I would say go play for sure...

Played June 3rd, arrived as a single at 6:45, on the first tee at 7:00 with a two-some. First time ever playing rec park 18. By far these were the best greens I've putted on this year, each putt rolled so pure, no bouncing, they just held there line. Hats off to the head greenskeeper and staff. All the greens seem to slope from the back to front , you really need to keep your ball below the hole. If not, they can easily get away from you. The course isn't long, but factor in the marine layer, wind and kikuyu fairways, forget about any roll off your drives. Holes 6-8 are pretty tough. Throw in the 3 hr 45 min round I'll defiantly be back to play this track again.

Decided to go out and play a late Holiday 18 today and it was well worth it. Got a matched online deal price walking up for $21 with a cart. Played with one other single who was a great playing companion. Everything great so far.

Got on around 4:45 and really wasn't sure if we'd get in all 18 but we did just under the wire, and to be honest, in pretty much darkness at the end of the 17th and all the 18th. But we made it.

First time at this course and it was fantastic. Conditions for such a heavily used track were excellent. Very lush fairways, the greens were super fast and well maintained (too many people leaving ball marks though), and from what I saw of the traps, they looked just fine (managed to avoid them all day).

Really enjoyed the variety of holes, although I will admit, even for someone new like me, I think some of the par 5's are being a bit generous. But I did get one of my pars on the first one so I'm not complaining.

All in all a fantastic experience at Rec Park and I will surely visit again soon.

Played the Recreation OPark 18 hole course for the first time on Saturday 5/11/2013. Last minute plans. Got 2:45 pm tee time for 2 on-line at about 1:30 pm. We got there a few minutes late, but starter got us out a 3pm. Loved the course. The course wa in very good condition and very well maintained, fairways, greens, rough and tee boxes. Course has lots of ups and downs in the terrain which puts a premium on club choice. I look forward to playing at Recreation Park again, hopefully sooner than later.

The courses' main defense is the greens. It takes extra touch to score out here. I like to walk all of the Long Beach courses. However, Rec Park is my favorite due to several uphill walks. Burning more calories is always a good thing.
