Played @ 1:45 pm. Golfnow deal $25 with cart. Walking non resident rate is $33. Obviously happy about that. Greens were amazing. A little fast but rolled true. Best greens around for a muni. 4 1/2 hour round. Rough patches here and there, but they were usually marked as GUR.

Love to play this course. Always in great shape.... and the food is good. Great burgers and turkey sandwiches. Turkey has to be house roasted... no cold cuts.

My advice... if you live in on the westside or the South bay. Skip Chester, Alondra and god awful Victoria. You can get online deals for less and with the pace of play and no traffic on the 405 North after the round... You will get home sooner.

Played Rec yesterday 3/3 with an 11:00 tee time. Course was in good shape for the amount of traffic it gets. Greens and fairways were both good with no real abnormal conditions (although people need to learn how to fix their ball marks!!!) Rough was not very thick as is the norm here. The par three tee boxes are pretty chewed up since each hole is no more than a short iron and the tee boxes are not very large to begin with. Sand was fine for a muni (i.e. there was sand in them).
Pace of play was pretty awful but expected. If you're wanting less than 5 hours on a weekend at Rec then you should review your expectations. Saw the cart girl three or four times during our round. It's an enjoyable course with plenty of character so as long as you don't care about pace of play you'll have a good time.

Played Rec Park 18 last Sunday, Jan.22. Teed off at 1pm, did not see another group until 9th hole, joined them on 10. Paid $24 for twilight rate and finished in 3 hrs, 40 mins. Greens were in good shape, fairways and tee boxes were okay, no rough at all. This is a great old layout with some tough holes when the wind is up. If you are staying in the LB area this is must play as it is a classic! Customer Service was also good.

Played Rec Park early yesterday morning. Had a 6:52 tee time/ We got off a little later than that, but not bad considering it was cold, still very dark and extremely foggy. This course slows down for no force of nature!

We were a foursome stuck behind a pretty slow fivesome, but they sped up on the back and we ended up finishing in a little over 4 hours. Not bad for a Saturday morning out here. The course was in OK shape. The greens were in really good shape—small, firm and fast as always. Bunkers were great. Fairways and rough were pretty ugly. Brown, patchy and worn out. Of course, you can't expect too much with all the traffic this course gets and it being the dead of winter.

Played today @ 12:40. 1st time playing this course. Pretty busy for a Monday. Luckily, pace of play was good @ 3.45 hours. The course is in fair shape to say the best. Rough and fairways were dormant. Dry patches and roped off GUR areas. The greens are the best part of this course. The white, blue, and red tees were all lumped together. Par 4's were long even with tees moved up. Couple of par 4's were driveable today including #13..in which my eagle chip was two rotations short after a 270 yard drive. The course plays short, but the short par 5's are well protected by tricky greens. You definitely have to be below the hole for a chance to score. The sand traps were fair. Customer service was great; had nice lunch specials in the cafe...but poor Sandra is the only gal there...get her some help... I would not return anytime soon.

Played early on Sunday 12/18. The greens were as usual outstanding. Not as fast as I have seen them, but generally true. There were numerous wet areas from the rain on Saturday that were roped off. It was generally wet and muddier than usual. I thought the fairways were not as lush as usual because of the season. I was in only two bunkers and they were average. We played in about 4.25 hours. The fact they sent us out as a 3-some evidences how uncrowded it was, although we were following a series of 4-somes which dictated how long it took.

Overall, it was a good experience. My one negative was that all the tees were placed forward. I believe the red, white and blue stones were together on every tee. Possibly it was because of the wet conditions. In any event, it made a relatively short course that much shorter.
