Played on Sat 9/3 @ 6:30 as a single. Took advantage of a great discounted rate and got paired with some real good dudes which always makes for a good round. Had a blast and the only negative was being stuck behind a group of wanna-be pros who were hitting it a whopping 150 off the tee...from the tips. But they picked it up about midway & we finished in a very decent time so all-in-all nothing bad at all.

Not the longest but the layout still makes the course plenty challenging...e.g. some narrow fairways and elevation changes. Good example is the short downhill par 3 early on (basically just an easy swing wedge distance-wise) is tricky b/c it places a premium on accuracy...a lot of bunkers & you don't wanna be on the wrong part of the green unless you've got long distance putting skills. The course was kept in very good shape although the greens were kinda slow the day I played which always throws me off (not that it takes too much to throw off my putting). Didn't see any bare patches on the fairways or greens and zero complaints about the tee boxes...nothing worse than a jacked up tee box imo. Only damage on the greens was from a-holes not fixing their own pitch marks.

All told, nothing about the course will jump out and wow you so I can see someone not thinking it's worth the $90 rack rate on weekends. But if you can get the lower $70 rate when they have it, it's 100% worth it. For that price (except when Black Gold has their low rate avail), you won't find a better course nearby the north OC area imo. Another bonus is the customer service is top notch. Friendly/welcoming gentleman in the pro shop. Starter by the 1st tee is on top of it. Good range & putting area right next to #1 tee. And they send staff out to clean off your clubs as you're putting out on the 18th. Nice touch (especially since I can't ever be bothered to keep my clubs clean!)
