Tee times were running 20 minutes behind on the Classic Sunday morning, started slow, but overall PoP brought us around in 4:30 with a 7:30 tee time: we buzzed through the back nine in a tick over 2 hrs. Greens are great, rolling medium speed with minimal ball marks. Bunkers looked okay, was only in one (greenside) which had sufficient coverage. Place is busy on a weekend but marshalls were keeping things moving at a decent clip. Mile Sq. Classic is an okay muni with a flat, ho-hum layout which includes tree lined fairways that can be a problem if you're not straight, a few water hazzards, short cut rough so you don't have to search too long for errant shots, and semi-elevated green complexes ... yep, a decent muni sums it up. $50 weekend rate to walk is a bit overpriced, and they charge $ to use the practice chipping green ... very tacky. Nice bar/restaurant to have a cold beer that your buddies buy you when you win the last hole of the match by nuttin' your approach to 1' for a gimme bird and they lip out their 6 footer (had to throw that one in).

They really know how to maintain a nice course. Almost never do I find the greens in bad shape. The lake by the par 3 8th is either being redone or taken out or something. The tees are at the ladies ... Continue »

They really know how to maintain a nice course. Almost never do I find the greens in bad shape. The lake by the par 3 8th is either being redone or taken out or something. The tees are at the ladies box on this hole. I found out today that they don't give senior rates on this course?? huh?? Management here continues to amaze me with their quirky rules trying to make a buck. One thing is for sure if they had a reply rate of $20 or less I would play here a lot more than I do. They offer a free cart. That's ok. But I love to walk 36 holes.

The course is in overall good condition. The greens are always the best part of the course. The greens rolled medium/fast and smooth. The fairways are winter thin but in good playable condition. The rough is low and not very penal. The bunkers are in good condition. Some of the tee boxes are not level in spots but nothing severe. Teed off at noon on Tuesday finishing in under 4 hours.

Got out this early morning as a single. The course was in great shape. The greens were the best part of this course they rolled fast and true. The fairways were lush and the rough was not penal. The bunkers were fluffy in some but on others it was thin. The pace was nice at around 4 hours. The conditions were nice but the course was made very difficult due to 50+ mph winds. Other than the winds this course was great. Will be making a trek to this course again.

Quick review. Played 2/9/13, 8:30am. Pace was excellent for mid morning, even with fivesomes around us. Finished in just over 4 hours. Saw the marshall twice and he seems to making a huge difference. Kudos Mile Square, keep it up. It was a beautiful day, sunny and in the upper 50s with mild wind. Course conditions were good especially in light of hard rains the night before. Very few soggy areas and the greens quite firm. They were medium speed and smooth. Very decent conditions for winter. Wide welcoming fairways and relatively flat course makes for a relaxing round where it all comes down to putting. A fair number of trees line the fairways but they're not hard to come out of.

Played Friday 1/18. Teed off at 8:15 and finished in 4:45. Overall the course is in good winter condition. The greens were a little firm but are smooth and running medium/fast. The rough is good. The tee boxes are a bit chewed but in fair condition. The fairways are winter thin good condition creating the occasional funky lie. The bunkers are in good condition. The Classic is a flat straight forward course with large trees lining the fairways. The course is fairly wide off the tee. Stay below the hole or the down hill putts will test your touch especially on some of the front pin placements. Mile Square has a large mat driving range, 2 putting greens, and a cafe.

A cold Sunday morning with front on the ground. I was a bit disappointed that the putting green was closed due to to frost. Because of the frost the greens had not been cut this morning and there were chunks of ice from previous groups on the green. A putt on the first green took a nasty bounce off one ice chunk. For the first few holes the greens were frozen and very hard. However, hen the sun got a little higher in the sky they thawed and became very inconstant. Some were firm while others were spongy. The roll of the green was true if a bit slow. The only real problem was the rolling tee boxes. There were several tee boxes where our group could not find a level spot to tee up. But Mile Square is a good course and when you can play in 4:30 it is really worth the trip.

Played on 12/26 with fellow GKers dconnally, bradleycoop, and zachary and had a great time despite playing terribly. The rains stopped right before we teed off so the grounds were a bit on the soggy side but still very playable. Greens were a tick slow, but that's to be expected. They still rolled very well. Fairways and rough were in good shape and the bunkers were wet but still playable as long as your ball didn't plug. Wasn't thrilled with the holiday rates on a non-holiday but it was still an enjoyable day for the price ($50).
