The course has a classic feel. Holes are straight to slight doglegs with mature trees lining the fairways. The greens are always the best part of this course. They are moderately undulating and slope down from back to front. Today the greens were smooth with medium/fast speed. The bunkers are in good shape. The tee boxes and rough are good. The fairways are winter thin but decent. No frills but a nice track to play.

OVERALL CONDITIONS ARE PRETTY GOOD. GREENS ARE SMOOTH AND DECENTLY FAST. PACE OF PLAY WAS GREAT ON SATURDAY MORNING. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ABOUT 5 HOURS LONG, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS ABOUT 4 HOURS LONG. ONLY... Continue »

Played MLK day for weekday rates!! The course was certainly not stellar, but it was adequate. It's not lush, but the high point is the greens, which were smooth and fair. Walked the course in about 4 hours. Unlike the Players' course, the Classic has a nice traditional look and feel, but no trademark or exceptional holes. However, this is one of the few cheap rounds of golf left in Orange County and I have no problems with the fairly vanilla layout all things considered.

I walked onto the Classic at Mile Square this past Tuesday around 12 o'clock, hoping to play a quick round of 18. I chose to walk, which is relatively easy due to the course design. All tees are close together and hills are nonexistent. It seems both courses get quite a bit of play, however, I finished as a single in approximately 3 1/2 hours. Tees and fairways are in pretty good shape for a municipal course. Greens were very good, although a bit firm. Course layout provides for a fairly quick round, as almost all holes are straight away, with very few water hazards. Anything left or right may find another fairway or a block of timber in its path, with most holes lined with a grove of trees. With that being said, I enjoyed playing the course and would certainly return for a $32 green fee. I recommend this course to all players, as the length from the Blues provides 6,700 yards of playable surface and the relatively easy layout works well for beginners.

played the classic today...greens were just a touch bumpy but the course condition was fine. nice mature trees to keep you hitting them straight. easy to get tee time since they have 2 18's...

Played The Classic Sunday, as a walk on. The place was pretty much deserted. Course was in great shape. Greens very smooth, without many ball marks which was a pleasant surprise. Fairways were defined pretty well, and lies in fairway were true all day. Rough was trimmed to about 2 in., and the weather was great. Played in a foursome with a buddy and a couple other walk-ons. We didn't have to wait all day, and nobody was pushing us. Carts look new, but no GPS. Trees were trimmed a few years back which makes this course more enjoyable. Championship Tee on #1 was being fixed, but other than that, nothing else undergoing major maintenance, and ground under repair was maked well. I'll be back.

Course was in great shape for this time of year and the shortage of water. The fully grown trees is what makes this course better then the new Players. The fairways are well lined with trees and they have added some new younger ones also. Always enjoy playing this course and the pace is usually very good.
