20 years ago, I swore off Shorecliffs even though it was 4 miles from home. It was a mess, and then a landslide made it more of a mess. Time passed. I mellowed. Shorecliffs got a new managing group, and money started to go into the course. Nice new clubhouse and restaurant. Nice practice green and decent chipping areas that I use for practice weekly. Reviews started to pour in about the improvements and positive trends. Finally, the stars (schedule, openings, hot deal) aligned, and my 20 year hiatus from Shorecliffs came to an end today. THE KING IS NOT DEAD! LONG LIVE THE KING! Shorecliffs is still awful. Worse than anything I have played in 20 years, since Shorecliffs. Here we go. Greens are shaggy, soft, and bumpy. Nothing over 2 feet rolled straight. At least the grass is there, it could be cut short and rolled and I think they would be fine. I might give them the benefit of the doubt, but at least 6 of the cups were cut at ground level. 2 of the cups were actually at grass level, you could run your hand over the hole and feel the cup edge. I can't remember ever seeing cups that poorly seated. If they don't care about that, I doubt they care about shaggy greens. And an unannounced surprise, all Blue and White tee boxes were closed. So we played from the Ladies' Tees for half of the holes, and the other half the tees were actually ahead of the ladies tees. This already short 5700 yard course played around 4200 today. There was a 267 yard par 5. It was downhill and downwind. I was one good bounce from driving the green on a Par 5. As for the layout changes over 20 years, as others have stated, the nines have flipped. Now you get to start on the two tightest fairways, without having a range to warm up on. Good luck. The landslide lost Par 4 on the now Back 9 has been replaced by making the Par 5 #10 (old #1) into a 150 yard Par 3, followed by a 220 yard Par 4 (?). And that is a straight 220, although we were playing it at 175. The hole before the landslide is a complete mess. Tees way left of the hole, so you actually have to hit over trees on the left side of the fairway to get to the fairway (that you can't see). On my golf tracker spreadsheet, 20 years ago I left this liitle note on the Shorecliffs line.... "play only if less than $3". I think I may have been a bit too generous. Highly not recommended.

Invited by my friend in SD to play here this morning. We picked here because it was half way for both us and we got an early tee time. 1st ones out so POP was fantastic. I have not been here for many years but after today I would have no hesitation in going back. New clubhouse is excellent as well as the food and service. Course is in great shape. They flipped the nines around for any of you who have played here. Its like (as many know) playing 2 different 9's. Elevation changes and 2 long par 3's on the front with 3 par 5's and 3 short par 3's and no par 5's on the back. It is a par 70 with 37 F and 33 back. Blue 5718, White 5396, Gold 4808. But the greens are not large and many of them are elevated from the fairways. Not a lot of bunkers to deal with. The course itself is in very nice shape at the moment. Though a little damp from over night watering the fairways provided some roll out but they are lush and had great lies all round. Tee boxes are all level and playable. Sand was a little damp so not optimal early AM but was only in one and out OK so no harm. Rough was no issue but there are OB areas and some creeks and water holes to deal with. Greens were all very playable to chip and putt on and held good high shots very well. The new carts with GPS are very good. Customer service was excellent at all levels. Cost was $55 but they gave both of us 10% off for being veterans and free coffee. Enjoyable course IMO and recommended. And for those of you close by they have a discount program on the rates

Course layout has not bee updated in GPS apps and yardages are all off.

First time playing this course. Upon arrival you come up on a newly remodeled clubhouse, which overlooks Hole #10 and #18. There is a practice green but there is no driving range. Good first impressions.

There are a lot of narrow tunnels that you have to drive through in the course. I did not care for the design of the course. The par 3 average 190-200 yards from the blues. There are a couple of Par 4 that are only 200-215 yards. A lot of narrow fairways and dog legs. The back nine fairways are a little larger. Greens are small.

Some fairways are being repaired and some are muddy. Greens were aerated couple of weeks ago and are still very shaggy. Fairways were being mowed when we were playing so hopefully they will be short enough for your ball to get some roll when it lands. At $59 I would play it again, anything higher than that and I would skip.

The 19th hole and the staff was the best part of the course.

Played 7/20/2023. Lots of very positive improvements here. Good coverage in fairways, greens rolling nicely and quite smooth. All bunkers I hit from had very good sand. A couple greens are new 15 & 18, I believe, and are much firmer than all others. Played here years ago and I don't recall exactly what layout changes are, but new routing is pretty solid. First 4 (formerly back nine) are quite tough. There are a few quirky holes. Par 3 4th plays 200 straight up hill, a fairway below is a mess. The Par 5 7th is among the narrowest around, but all up, a fun course. Back 9 much shorter than front Enjoyable conditions, good break from hot weather inland. Understand bar / restaurant / clubhouse renovations are likely complete in September. You won't recognize from previous condition. Looks great !

6/22 using teeoff deal time with discount $35 410 POP. Very pleasant 715 start time warmingas the sun peaked thru with a bit of a breeze the last few holes. Conditions are quite good with the fairways being lush and full with about 5% patchy areas. Lies were excellent. Couirse needs to start encouraging the filling of divots before it gets out of hand. Rough cut to about 1-2 inches and very healthy and sticky; Played harder than it looked when the ball nestled down. Most tees are in good shape except for a couple that had some slope and a few had some divot damage. Bunkers were groomed , generally with adequate sand.
Greens were really good smooth medium fast and still receptive for full shots. Chips and pitches could run out rather quickly.
Overall conditions are near thir prime and getting better as time goes by and areas of the ccourse continuing to heal from rpairs and renovation...Fun track but challenging without that much length

Never thought I'd have much nice to say about this course but the improvements so far are wonderful.
The 9s are flipped. There are a few holes that have been shortened and/or completely reinvented. Overall the course is short at par 70. All of the turf is in great condition and the greens fast. Many huge trees have been removed. The course is much more open now and beautifully landscaped with roses everywhere. The new clubhouse is not yet open and there is a no driving range, but there is a new chipping, putting and patio area with new hitting bays to come. A couple of the tunnels are completely paved! All the staff was super friendly.
The only negative is that my GPS was completely useless. It had no idea where I was.

6/1 712 using teeoff dealtime $41 with a 330 POP with consistent waiting on the 3some ahead and being closely followed by a 3some. !st time playing the new revised layout which now starts on the otherside of the tunnel on what was recently #9 and previously #10. Staring this route will make sense when the club house is open as the practice areas and staging will be adjacent.
#! has a new er tee box open less than a year since it opened and if the markers are near the back adds about 10 yds in length. #2 is now back its oriuginal par 5 design at 523 yds and narrow with ob left and penalty area rt for the entire length of the hole. #3-9 remain as they have been tho 7 (old 16) has suffered from the left hillside collapsing so about 1/2 the fairwqy is gur.
#10 par 3 has a new tee box and now plays at 200 from the blues. 11 has a new tee box adding about 30nyds as does 12 adding about 20. 13 and 14 are basically unchanged. 15 is a new hole layed out in the canyon withb 4 sets of tees playing about 300 nfrom the tips. 16 and 17 are unchanged. 18 is now a par 4 similar in design to the original 39 but about 50 yds shorter. Now is set as a par 70 69.0/125.
Fairways have some areas that are in excellent condition with some patches that are still in recovery mode. 80 % really good lies and the rest from marginal to 1 or 2 sketchy. Rough 1-2 inches but very thick what lands there stayes there and could present a challenge to advance.
Bunkers looked ok as I only observed them in passing today. Tees mostly ok with the newest being really nice.
Greens had evidence of recent verticut and surprisingly showed the pattern from past plugging but were mostly smooth but early on were slower than expected.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall the majority of the work on the course is complete with the exception of some irrigation lines and some draiage projects still work in progress.
Not the country club/troon experience but a good test of your game with overall improvement in conditions.

4/28 725 time using teeoff deal time $37 with discount got off a few min early as a single following a 4some and being followed at a distance by another 4some so had a chance to practice some chips and putts but still had a very reasonable POP of 345.
Fairways are mostly in good shape with some overly wet areas but not generally a factor. Rough is longer now and depending on the type of grass the ball would sit up on top of an inch or 2 of cushion or could sink in and be buried. Also balls hit into the rough would come to a quick stop.
Tees are mixed as the new/newer tees are in nice shape while the old tee boxes are often not level and often worn. There are still 2 new boxes that are almost ready to open and the new hole in the canyon old 6 new 15 when the 9s are flipped around 5/18 will be in play.
All the bunkers have ample sand and were in good condition. However a few have different sand which is thick but not well compacted so for me a lot more difficult to judge.
Greens were way better than I expected 2 weeks post areation, rolling quite smoothly at medium/medium fast speed. Greens are very healthy with a tight turf and virtually no evidence of punching. BTW the practice green and chipping area is now open and is a very nice addition. The new club house has a hopeful opening date of 6/1.
