Played T-Creek twilight on a Sunday ... met up with dconnally for this round on a gorgeous summer day. Family time at the Creek, so play was a bit slow but we did finish before sundown, PoP was 4:25. Not too pleased with course conditions today, and our game was similar: some good, some bad. Greens were TC slow and a bit bumpy. Bunkers not in good shape either, uneven and firm, not maintained at all. Fairways mostly good lies but some had longer grass than others, where it seemed like I was hitting from the primary rough. Drought is evident here as the surrounding area is dry and brown. Come on, el Nino!

It'll be a while before I play a twilight round here unfortunately ... but wait, I still have one more round on my Creek Card. Might have to wait until Fall. I find it hard to recommended at this time but it might be better on a mid-week morning when the mowers are out.

Played my free birthday round as a Creek Card member this morning at 8:36. Fortunately maintenance was out in full force, correcting some of the issues sngernz mentioned from the weekend. POP was pretty good at 4:10. I played the blue tees and the course played short today, with some of the markers up a box or two from where they normally are.

The most glaring issue I've noticed the last few times I've played here is that the greens are much slower than they look. My group had numerous downhill putts stop short of the hole today, the kind that really leave you scratching your head how the ball could stop there. Greens are soft and hold shots well. They are mostly smooth but sometimes bumpy. Fairways were good, although definitely thinner than normal. Most of the rough I found was pretty lush. Tee boxes were fine. Bunkers were pretty bad, mostly wet and clumpy. I was in the fairway bunker on 17 and didn't even need to rake it because I made no footprints at all. It needs some serious attention, although it's probably an easier play as is than if it was nice, soft sand.

One issue of concern is that some sort of birds are seemingly attacking areas of a few greens with their beaks, leaving ugly bare patches and remnants of "pecked-at" grass. Hopefully they can figure out how to deter that. I've never seen this phenomenon on any course before.

All in all, a great morning on a great course in decent condition.

I stayed down behind the Orange curtain this weekend and played T-Creek with my bro and a bud, got an online deal of $60 at 1PM, PoP was 4:10 with minimal waiting. Dog days of summer pretty much sums up the conditions here at the Creek (meaning: they overseed). Fairways have many thin areas (none marked GUR) and the rough can be very patchy: from thin to bare. They haven't mown fairways for a few days, so they were playing more like primary cut rough ... the kind where your ball settles in a low spot which isn't cool when you drive it down the middle ... and on a weekend when customers are paying more bucks!?!? Come now, TC. Greens were okay: soft enough to hold shots, some poorly repaired pitch marks, and rolling mostly medium speed or a tad slower. Bunkers ranged from rock hard to decent, just depends which bunker you land in (do not go in the left bunker next to #3 green). Altogether, great layout ... can't beat that. Just some bad lies out there to negotiate, it's the luck of the draw. Get a deal and it's worth it (barely) to play here. Otherwise, paying regular rates are not justified at this time.

Played a rare (for me) twilight round of golf. since I play almost all my rounds first thing in the morning, it was very different playing on dry cut greens with no maintenance around. Also not use to the slower pace, although with a 3:20 tee time, playing just over 4 hours wasn't too bad at all.

I thought the course was in decent shape. Greens were much too slow for my taste, but rolled reasonably true and were very receptive to well struck shots. A few areas in the fairways needed some attention, but for the most part were fine. Bunkers were hit or miss.

Hard not to enjoy this course, particularly playing the back side on a nice warm summer evening. Makes playing this wonderful game special !

Not much to add to sixpez's review. Having just played here 11 days ago, I definitely noticed a slight drying out of the front nine fairways compared to the dark green lushness in late May. Not sure if that's intentional or just due to lack of precipitation. The greens still roll slower than they appear they would, and I agree that the practice green is much faster than the greens on the course. It seemed that downwind approach shots wouldn't hold on greens but everything else stopped fairway quickly. Fairways and rough were in good shape. Tee boxes had a lot of divots and the bunker I was in was good, although Keith said there were some rocks in the fairway bunker on 12.

Only thing keeping the conditions from being really great are the greens. They're not bad, but they need some improvement. If they got them rolling a little faster and smoother, everything would be great.

Played here this afternoon with Itslikeimsayin. He has the Creek Card and they were offering a deal today for a 2:00 twilight rate of $40. Guests pay the same rate, so we went for it. We were scheduled right at 2:00 and played with a single. Teed off on time and then the pace was slow as typical here. Given how beautiful a day it was, it could have been much worse and didn't seem too crowded. Still, 5 hours without a marshal in sight. Saw the cart girl several times, though. The conditions weren't quite as lush and nice as the last couple reviews, but still very good overall. Actually, there was a noticeable difference on the fairways from the front nine to the back. The front had more browned out areas, whereas the back nine was very nice and lush in most areas. Everywhere the fairway grass seemed a tad shaggy, but I always had nice fluffy lies. The rough was cut down and not much of a factor. Par-3s blue tees had a ton of divot damage filled with sand, but otherwise the tees were mostly good. The greens seemed soft walking on them, but a lot of balls really seemed to release more than expected. The putting surfaces were a little bumpy late in the day and much slower than expected. The practice green seemed quicker. I was in a couple bunkers and they were fine, though one fairway bunker I was in had a lot of pebbles in it. I'm nitpicking a bit with the conditions. Like I said, very good for the most part, but maybe not quite as nice as you can usually expect at Tijeras (especially after the last few reviews). For the rate we paid and the beautiful weather, it was a great day and I can't complain much. We couldn't have asked for a better time of day to play the back nine. I love the back nine as it is, but it was extra pretty this afternoon! Still one of my favorite OC tracks and I'll gladly play here more with deals like that.

Course offers some scenic views on the back nine and some challenging holes throughout the course. PoP was about 4 1/2 which is not bad for this course. I would recommend this course.

Big thanks to Itslikeimsayin for putting this round together as we all played on a comp round he had. It was my first time here and I liked the lush conditions and well-maintained facilities. Great customer service as my bags were immediately put on a cart as I checked in. I had some time to putt and hit the range before the round. The range was a carpet of solid astro turf on concrete, but you had room to tee up on the grass in front of the stalls. The practice greens were large and a good representation of the greens on the course. Lush conditions from tee to green. The tee boxes (I played the blues) were nice and flat. Some forced carries could get in your head, but that added to the challenge of the course. The rough was deep enough to cover your ball, but making good contact was not much of an issue. Fairways were very lush and it appeared they needed to be mowed a little lower, but there were great mower tracks making for nice patterns. If you miss the fairway, you could end up with some horrible side hill lie in the rough, but it was manageable. Greens were super soft and receptive. They rolled fairly true, but at times were bumpy. I would say the speed was close to 8.5; I'd call it medium to medium-fast. For some reason, I could not hit my uphill putts hard enough, though. Some of the bunkers had great, white sand; others had darker sand, and were kind of wet, and some had a few small rocks working up into the surface. Good pace of play today at just over four hours.

Played Tijeras today at 12:40 with kviser, lotrgolfer48 and a single. Amazingly, we played in just about four hours flat, great POP for this course. We played the back nine first, which they explained is standard procedure for Tuesdays. Apparently homeowners lining the front nine prefer that weekly maintenance not start too early, so they reverse the routing every Tuesday so they have a couple hours to address whatever issues need work on the front. On to conditions, the course looks really beautiful right now. It probably looks better than it plays, because the greens are sort of bumpy and much slower than they appear they'd be. They are very soft and receptive to shots, but we kept getting bumpy rides and hops en route to the hole. A few greens are micro-aerated and very lightly sanded (perhaps in an effort to speed them up?). The fairways are lush and mostly excellent, although a few (No. 3 comes to mind) seemed like they weren't mowed today. Rough was also in great shape, cut quite short in most places but then I found some really gnarly, deep rough near the hazard line on 17. I was in one bunker and it was great, full of nice heavy sand. Black tee boxes were fine all day. Skies cleared just as I arrived at the course, so it was a pretty good day for taking pictures.
