I couldn’t let a 3 day weekend close without playing another round, so I took advantage of my Creek Card’s “free anytime Monday – Wednesday” round. I was paired with a couple visiting from Northern CA and another local single. Everyone in the pro shop, bag drop guys and starter all are so welcoming. I feel so much more comfortable going there as a single than many of the other courses I’ve played. The course conditions were fabulous (other than the bunkers). The tee boxes, fairways and rough were perfect. On the front 9 we were following the mowers so there were a lot of piles of grass clippings but it wasn’t a problem. Visually, I really enjoy the mower patterns in the fairways. The greens are fully healed from punching several weeks ago. They were smooth but not as fast as I expected. The bunkers were disappointing, however, being low on sand and having lots of pebbles. The views from the back 9 were stunning as usual. I’m posting a few photos. We finished in exactly 4 hours. I’m so glad I decided to renew the Creek Card this year so I can play here many more times.

Played here on 6 April 2016 in early afternoon. Starter kept everything well organised, and got us off on time. Course was in great condition and greens are well-healed from the punching in March and were fair and reasonable to read and putt. A few unrepaired ball-marks from bone-headed golfers, but fewer than most courses. Fairways were green, lush and consistent in turf conditions. Pace was a little slow - 4 hours 40 minutes all told. A marshall was making the rounds and indicated he had urged a group 3 holes ahead to close the gap on the group in front of them. The beverage and snack cart lady came by four times during the round. All staff is very friendly and makes the experience here a cut above most public courses.

Play, ed the "Creek" today as it had been awhile. Tough to get an early time without being a member of their Creek Card where you get a little break on price but you get to make a start time a few weeks before. Have always liked this course for its challenging layout. It was in great shape today. Fairways very nice and the greens were holding shots even though they seemed to have been cut fairly low. Now I may be being a bit picky but our tee time was 7:00 am and you couldn't get a cup of coffee? No GPS on the carts, no big deal for me as I have my own but the rack rate at this course is $105 and no GPS? Also, many of the ball washers didn't have water in them and none had towels. Nit picking maybe but if I had paid the prevailing rate, well....it was fun and enjoyable.

I came back to T-Creek as promised, had to get my M-F free round in from last year, and played with a couple buds going off a few minutes past noon and finishing at 4:20PM with some waiting on the front but pretty clear sailing on the back. Fairways and rough have not changed as they are full and green with divots mostly filled, good to see. Found several fairway bunkers and they were mostly thin and firm, which is okay, and one GS bunker in front of 11 green which was the same ... not okay. This is consistent for T-Creek, unfortunately, they don't do a good job on maintaining the bunkers here. Greens have come back from aeration but they put some kind of cross-cut on them today which made for some difficult reads. Medium speed to semi-slow rolls ... looked quick but they weren't, if you get what I mean. Very receptive to well struck irons. Great layout, especially the back ... much tighter than the front with red-staked lined fairways and drop areas on the two par 3's. Recommended, even with unpredictable bunkers and greens ... Creek Card a must. I tried to rate this course but something's not working. I agree with Itslikeimsayin and give it a 6.1.

Had a 2:08 twilight time here today with dconnally for our GK Cup match. Started right on time or maybe a couple minutes early and played at a decent pace that felt slower than it really was. Overall about 4:10 on course on a cold, windy day.

Conditions are mixed but overall pretty good. Greens are in varying states of repair from aeration nearly a month ago. Some show no visual evidence, others the dotted surfaces are hard to miss. Overall medium speed, mostly smooth and quite firm. However, the few times I actually hit a green with a full shot today, it did stop quickly. Fairways are maybe the nicest part of the course. Not quite as deep green as they were back in January, but still lush and in very nice condition. They were cut short today. Rough is also lush and nice, mostly about 2-3 inches deep. Bunkers varied from one to the next. The right greenside bunker on No. 1 seemed to have less sand in it than others, but overall they were decent. Tee boxes decent/good for the most part.

Stayed down behind the Orange Curtain Wed. night and got in an early 18 holes at Tijeras Creek on Thursday (Creek card b-day round was comp'ed). 4 hr PoP. They had just punched the greens a few days ago so they were very sandy. That said, they didn't really roll that bad ... speed medium/slow and some bumps along the way, but very predictable. They were also punching fairways so there were lots of those muddy 'plugs' all over. Visually, T-Creek is as green as any course I've played in quite a while (they overseed). Wildlife everywhere on the back nine. Although it's very playable currently, I'd wait a least a couple weeks ... there's rain in the forecast which should make this diamond really sparkle come mid-March. And when the greens are cut low and have their speed, this can be a very challenging course for us mere mortals and worth the price of admission (with the Creek Card). Will be back in 2-3 weeks to check it out.

Played yesterday after the RSM tournament, I was curious how the course would be in tournament like conditions as I've always felt they keep the conditions of the course so play isn't quite as tough as it could be. It was certainly tougher than normal, but it wasn't overwhelming by any means. The greens played faster, rough- longer, and fairways- a little tighter. I did play the blue tees, not the tips, which is where the tournament played from, so it could have been a little different. Course conditions are generally a level above most in Orange County and I felt it was certainly like that yesterday. The entire course was lush, tee boxes had plenty of turf, mostly level, I think there were about 3 or 4 tee boxes where people didn't fill in their divots, so they had a few strips missing, still plenty of other areas to tee. I thought the fairways were the best part of the course, conditioned nicely, tight, but not ridiculous, had some undulation on a few holes to make it interesting. Rough was just long enough to affect the ball spin coming out, but it wasn't so long that you were forced to only use a wedge. Bunkers were decent, most had an adequate amount of sand, some were a little thin, but still manageable. There are a few that have rocks, but if you read the scorecard there is a local rule to remove them, so always read the scorecard folks! I've always felt the greens were the weakest element here. They were certainly faster but didn't have much break, you could definitely tell they had a tournament by the amount of visible foot traffic on them. Pace of play is the other issue at this course. I had a 5 hour round simply because the group ahead played from 6,500 yards (blue tees) but they were playing 150 yards a swing and would all stand around 1 player while he took his shot instead of getting ready for theirs. I think with situations like that, a marshall should have the right to move a group up a tee box or 2 when it is clear that they are playing slow because can't hit it far enough (or hit it at all as was also this case), that would easily cut pace of play down here. All in all, it was still a nice day out in a beautiful area of OC. I don't play this course too often, but I do always make a point to play here a couple times a year and will continue to do so!

Played Fri Feb 19th at 7:11. It has been over 2 years since I played here, mainly because of the cost. There are great courses in the IE for cheaper rates. I really question them not opening the restaurant for breakfast until 7:30 but this is OC. The starter was friendly Course was really green very good shape. Tee boxes were good, 1st 4 holes it was really wet so with that and a little longer fairway grass we got like 6 feet of roll. This was also true for the 1st 4 greens. When the sun came out all this changed. The bunkers were hit or miss, a few had great fluffy sand but there were many that needed more sand and I know because I was in 13 bunkers, man that was rough. POP was good at 4:15 I like the difference in the front and back if this course it is fun, I just wish it wasn't as expensive.

Knowing they were going to punch greens at the end of the month, thought I'd better get out here before they begin. Course was in overall nice shape. Fairways were lush and green. Greens were a little slower than usual, but still rolled well. A few of the greenside bunkers needed some TLC, but plenty of sand.

Tijeras Creek is close to home, fun to play, and the staff is always accommodating. Being a Creek Card member also helps defray some of the costs. Try to get out here before the begin their maintenance on 2/29/16
