Course is in very good shape for summer conditions.
Tee boxes are lush, almost too lush (grass was a little high). Fairways are very good with the ocasional bare spots around the edges. Greens look like they were areated a couple of weeks ago. You could still see the little holes but no sand on the greens. They look amazing but putted real slow

Played Thurs. 06/12 Course is pretty much the same as my review a few weeks back except the greens. There is a lot of brown spots on the greens where you can see the dirt.

I played here on Monday 06/2 and we went off about 0715. Course is in incredible condition. It is a real treat to view this course from the tee to green and it's almost immaculate. I played the tournament tees and it made the course a challenge. These tee boxes were so perfect I almost felt bad making any divots in them. The fairways are some of the best I've ever played. No complaints about the rough - which is not penal at all. The sand traps are well maintained and play as they should. The only semi-knock here are the greens, and that's because they're in the transition face from the winter grass to the summer grass. So the greens are looking a little brown but they were still firm, little to no ball mark damage, and they still rolled smooth as can be and medium-fast and closer to fast.

One of my new favorite courses in the desert area.

Played 05/15 on round 2 of my beat the heat in Orange County.

Teed off at 1:00 as a single and never saw another golfer until the 15th hole. Pace of play was at 3 hours. Course is in very good shape. Tee boxes very good, fairways excellent, rough is very minimal. Greens are very nice but putted very slow. Sand traps are just starting to get crusty. This is one of my favorite courses. The only problem I have is can be very unfair if you just miss the green or barely go over it.

Played on Wednesday May 7, 2014. I have heard that the service at PGA West is excellent, and my experience was no different. They provide a top notch experience from start to finish. Pace of play was excellent at about 3:45. We tee'd off early at 6:45, and did not see the group in front of us after the second hole.

The driving range was excellent, with the raised areas near the flags that mark yardage. One gripe I had was the lack of a practice putting green? Near the driving range they had a very small putting "space" that only had two holes cut that were filled with sand. On the opposite side of the range was a practice chipping area with a couple flags. I don't know if I missed the putting area, but thought it should have been easier to find if there is one.

The tee boxes on this course were in superb shape. Nothing to note, even on the par 3's they were in great shape, and you could tell they are rotated frequently. They were always dead level, and it was a joy hitting from a great tee box into the rough.

The fairways were rolled carpet! Some of the best I have played in Palm Springs, or likely anywhere for that matter. I noticed a few patches on about 2 holes were they were doing repairs, but the vast majority were flawless.

The bunkers on this course are TOUGH. They are frequently deep, and the sand gives no quarter. Very soft, and ideal for splash outs if you have the requisite skill. I frequently found myself in fair way bunkers that did not leave me a shot at the green, but merely a way to get out to the fairway.

The greens were not really "green" but brownish green. They ran very, very, quick. I would guess 11+. A tap from 3 feet could run 4 feet past. I found them difficult to read, as Jack likes to make you work on the greens to earn a par or bogey, or double. The greens were very hard, and a well struck shot would not leave a mark, it would bounce and roll right on through and off the back edge. The condition was excellent, but made for tough scoring.

Overall an extremely enjoyable experience. This was my first time at the course, and it is probably too tough for my level of play. I tee'd off from the tee range where I usually play, and might have scored slightly better by moving up, but overall this was an extremely tough course. It gives the pros a test during Q school, and definitely tested my average skills. I would like to play again having become a little familiar with it, but this is definitely a real test of golf skills.

This is one of the toughest courses I've played in Southern California. I never knew what elevated fairways were like until I played here, but it affects you when you hit virtually dead on target and watch your ball roll off the fairway into the rough, on the side of a hill. Most any course, if you miss the fairway by ten feet you have a flat lie with pretty much the same shot from the rough. Not here, a perfect tee shot ought to be cherished, and a good one worshipped.

Overall, a very interesting design on most any hole, always keeping me on my toes, greens very well protected. If you are on the green in regulation is almost always means you hit a good approach. This course is different enough throughout the 18 holes that it never gets boring.

Highly recommended.

Played Monday and Wed with buddies in scamble format. Also player Stadium on Tuesday. Along with Stadium course, the Web.com Q school is coming here next week. As such, the course is in wonderful shape. Teeboxes/faiways/greens/bunkers are in immaculate shape. There are 2 cuts of rough. The first cut is lush overseeded rough, although not quite a deep as on Stadium,, which makes a somewhat more playable. The second cut is dormant bermuda, and the lies can be ok to terrible. The layout is scenic, interesting, and difficult, but not as hard as the Stadium course. Is a must play in the desert right now.

Played PGA West Nicklaus on Saturday and got off a little early at 12:38. Only payed $50 to play at this great, well maintained golf course. The clubhouse is amazing when you walk in with the large pro shop and nice restaurant connect to the clubhouse. Great, large driving range with good chipping area. Its always cool when you go to hit balls and there already in a perfect pyramid!!! The only con was the size of the putting green next to the Nicklaus tee box.... it was pitiful for a facility like this. The course was really enjoyable and in great shape to play on. The tee boxes were all lush and soft. The fairways were all perfect and green. They were a little soft from a good rain the day before. The sand traps were all full of good fluffy sand. The greens were pretty hard and fast but always rolled true. Overall it was a great experience on the first day of our PGA West golf trip and got us ready for the Stadium the next day.

Played Stadium 9/13 in the am @$69 rate which includes a free replay round here or at Norman. Had lunch in the bar then headed right back out. Little easier than Stadium, but not much. Very challenging. Greens are still recovering from punching so they ran pretty slow, but true. Pace of play was 3.5 hrs. I moved up to the white tees and played a bit better, but for my 15 handicap, this course was still a "bear". Overall a great day - 36 holes for $69 bucks - what a deal. No complaints. Everything is in great condition, tees to greens. Wish I played better. This a no-brainer recommend.
