Played a sunset 9 holes on the front side Friday, June 23th. Being end of June I wasn't sure what to expect conditioning wise in the desert as the courses are transitioning into their summer Bermuda, however, the celebrity course was in tremendous early summer condition. Fairways were the highlight, still lush and playing great. Greens were nice. Rolled medium speed and fairly true. Definitely felt confident standing over my putts that they would roll on the intended line. I was in a couple bunkers and they were great. All in all, no matter what time of the year this course is a treat to play. From the tips both here and the players course are 7,200+ and quite challenging. Can't wait to come back later this summer after greens heal from upcoming punching.

Great time Monday morning with some fellow GK Review Guru playing a golf course that in my experience most closely resembles golf’s paradise garden. The Celebrity Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort is simply stunningly beautiful. Near perfectly maintained in every way. On Monday I could only think of a small handful of times I have played a golf course in better condition in my 30+ years enjoying this game. I’ve posted some photos from the round here on Greenskeeper.org that I will let speak for themselves.

Regarding layout, we played the Blue tees measuring 6600 yards which provide a perfect blend of long and short holes. Every hole on the course is unique and beautiful in its own way. It’s a tight course off the tee at times with deep exceptionally architected bunkers everywhere. The greens are challenging and undulating but not too severe. All the green complexes are heavily bunker-ed and stunning to look at. This course is loaded with little streams, ponds, fountains and waterfalls. Flower beds are present on just about every hole (free drop from them). The majority of the doglegs are right-to-left. The course feature gentle sloped terrain with same hills here and there.

As far as service and amenities, top-notch. The course personifies a high-end golf experience. The clubhouse is grand with a modern design. Facility staff are always friendly, professional and helpful.

I’m looking very forward to my next round at Indian Wells Golf Resort!

Played in the GK event on 3/13 with Johnny, RGM and Abbacat. Awesome group to play a round of golf.

The course was in incredible shape. Green grass everywhere that looked smoother than the carpet in my house. This is one of the best manicured public tracts in the valley.

Tee boxes were nice. Level and plenty of coverage. I never had an issue with finding a level spot to tee from.

Fairways were green, lush with plenty of roll out and never a bad lie. The ground was firm but taking a divot was effortless. No hardpan anywhere in the fairways that I saw.

Rough was just long enough to be penal. Lies could be anything from nice and sitting up to down deep in the grass. Some of the non-free drop planter boxes can be difficult, DAMHIK!

Bunkers were good to excellent. I found the sand in most to be nice, a little wet for the early morning. Not tough to play from with a good swing.

Greens were really smooth and running good speed. Much nicer than the last time I played here at the GK year end event. I had trouble gauging speed and left a bunch of putts short.

Staff and amenities are top notch. Thanks to Johnny for setting this event up and to the Indian Wells staff for a great morning of golf.

Played 3-13-17 in about 4 hours with fellow GK Gurus, John,Wendy, and Rob. Tee boxes were close to perfect, level and lush with hardly a blemish on them. Fairways were just great with good rollout and close to perfect lies. Rough was in great shape, about 1-2 inches and pretty easy to hit from. Found a few bunkers all of which had plenty of nice sand a fairly easy to hit from. Greens were very nice rolling medium pace, smooth and holding well struck shots. Very pretty course with close to perfect conditions.

Played 3-13-17 with the GK Gurus. It was great having an early morning tee time so that we were able to enjoy the entire round in relatively cool temps. This is an absolutely beautiful course. The fairways, tees and greens were just perfect. I was in two bunkers – one was soft, the other thin and crusty. There were ice water stations every third hole which is much appreciated in the warm weather. The first time I played here it was a bit intimidating with so much sand and water but this time it was nothing but fun. I had such a great time. Thank you, Johnny for setting this up. I hope to be able to play here again soon!

Played in yesterday's GK Review Guru outing with sixpez and sparky14. We were the first group of the day and zoomed through the course in about 3:15. Beautiful clear desert day with very little wind.

The course is nearly immaculate throughout. The greens ran smooth and accepted full shots well. It took me a while to gauge the speed of the greens accurately; overall they were running medium-fast. I noticed some pock marks on some greens but they didn't affect anything. Fairways were lush green carpets, some of the most pristine I've ever seen or played. Rough was also perfectly lush, cut pretty short. Tee boxes were excellent (I was going to rate them a 10 until Classic Club later in the day were even better, so I knocked these down to a 9). Sand in the bunkers was great.

After over a month off of golf, it was a treat to come back to a course as gorgeous as Celebrity—one of my favorites in the desert. Took advantage of the GK Guru deal. I was in the first group off at 7:10 with Itslikeimsayin and sparky14, and we were finished by 10:30.

The course was pretty much immaculate from tee to green. Pure and pristine. Tee boxed and fairways perfectly manicured. Rough cut fairly low and also perfectly maintained. I was in a few bunkers and the sand was very soft. The greens were very receptive with some early morning moisture. Some looked a little pock-marked in places, but all my putts rolled smooth and true. At times, it seems the green speeds varied a little, though that was more likely the subtle breaks and slopes here that can be tricky to see/read.

Not much else to say other than an amazing golf experience on a stunningly maintained course, not to mention the great company of the GK Gurus. Thanks Johnny for getting these kinds of deals and to the folks at Indian Wells Golf Resort for having us out in peak season!

Golf in Indian Wells during the winter time is Fantastic.
It could not have been any better than at the Indian Wells Golf Resort - Celebrity Course. They overseeded the golf course in September so, it was in great shape.
The fairways were in fantastic shape, the tee boxes were lush. The rough was fair, an extra 1 inch thick when compared to fairway. The greens were nice and rolled true. A golfer could not have asked for better scoring conditions.
We were lucky enough to be out on the golf course on a work day playing hookie and on a beautiful sunny day with essentially no wind.
I highly recommend that you check out the Indian Wells Golf Resort courses for your next golf outing. You just can't go wrong.

Catching up on a review, had a great time Tuesday with fellow GK Review Gurus at Indian Wells Golf Resort. The Celebrity Course is one of my very favorite tracks. To me it’s like playing in a beautifully manicured desert garden. One of favorite aspects of both Indian Wells Golf Resort courses is the bunkers. Dramatic in natural, perfectly positioned, challenging to escape yet not unfair. Add to that the spectacular clubhouse, service and impressive on GPS...this is a complete high end golf experience.

As far as condition, excellent, and in few weeks, immaculate. Whenever you play a golf course coming out a rye grass overseeding the greens are going to be on the slow side yet likely exceptionally smooth. In addition fairways will be extremely green, hardly any divots yet still a tiny bit thin in spots until a few more cuts can be done. With every cut, and this goes for the greens too, the blades of rye grass get larger and hence denser the coverage. This results in faster greens and lusher fairways. Some courses do a good job overseeding, Indian Well Golf Resort does a fantastic job overseeding. That’s why the course is already lifted virtually all its cart path restrictions and in excellent condition early in the season.

Highly recommend play the Celebrity Course now and both Indian Wells Golf Resorts course this season. Can't wait to play the Players Course on 12/12.
