Played Goose Creek Sunday Oct 2, Had a 7:30 tee time, teed off right on time. The starter was very informative as to the maintenance that Goose will be doing for the next month. I thought the course was in good shape heading into maintenance, no issues with the tee boxes or fairways. Was not in any traps so can't comment there. POP was over 4:25 so ok, had to wait on the 4 some in front of us most holes, and we were walking....

I guess because of the upcoming maintenance they are not taking their normal care of the greens. A lot of pox marks, unrepaired ball marks and absolutely no sand in the bunkers. After I was in one and playing partner was in one and we were unable to get out, the next time I was in one I hit backwards into the fairway and had about a 50yd shot to the green, A lot better than staying in the bunker. Other than that everything was fine except for the ding dongs behind us. Hit into us twice, don't know what their problem was as we were on a 4 hour pace and right on the butts of the group ahead of us. It sure was nice to have a cool morning for a lovely walk. Have a good weekend everyone.

While the fairways and rough are the usual verdant green (with some occasional burnt areas - something like 10% overall), the greens were sub-par. They looked a bit raggedy and putted how they looked. Lots of poorly healed pitch marks too, and a fair number of un-repaired recent ones. Overall, I thought they needed rejuvenating with some aeration.

I was in both fairway and greenside traps and both were crusty, thin and compacted.

POP was great at 4.15 hours on Sunday morning prime-time, but the overall conditions were below the usual high standard you have come to expect here. I would rate it about 6 - 6.5 overall.

Just played today with a couple Meetup.com groups, club vs. club combined match play/team play. The course was in fine shape. Four tee times around 10:00, $88/player. POP about 4:45. Greens were soft, but running fast and smooth. There was quite a large area on the front of #5 green that was in poor shape, most likely due to fungus. It might have been a great idea to put the pin towards the back of that green rather than the front. LOL! Other than that, and fixing many a ball mark, it was all good as far as the conditions of the greens. Fairways and rough were great with good grass coverage. Tees were level and not too much divot damage. Bunkers were mostly mixed as far as conditions; many traps were too wet and hard-packed while others looked fine with ample amounts of fine, white sand. For $88, I might pass next time.

Played this morning in just under 3 1/2 and took our time, not sure what is going on but the Goose was below it's normal condition, a lot of tight lies in the fairways and hard enough where you wouldn't leave a divot. Greens were real bumpy and sort of dried out. Not worried though, it will get back to it's good shape in awhile I'm sure.

Played Thursday am in 4 hrs, course not too busy. Fairways are the best part of the course, great lies all day. Rough not deep, also in good shape and very playable. Greens soft but rolling true at medium speed. Everything they tell you about this place a fact, nice walkable layout, state of the art practice facility, and decient grub. Friendly staff that enforces PoP. We paid $47 with cart, great deal. Recommended.

Played yesterday 8/2 and after my last review I could not believe it was possible for the Goose to get any better but I was wrong. The only thing holding this course back, IMO, are the bunkers.

After reading so many wonderful reviews I had to make the trek out to play Goose. Loved it. Outstanding Condition. Fun layout with an exceptional last 3 closing holes. Greens were rolling beautifully.... Continue »

After reading so many wonderful reviews I had to make the trek out to play Goose. Loved it. Outstanding Condition. Fun layout with an exceptional last 3 closing holes. Greens were rolling beautifully. Fairways lush. Wish I lived closer. Clubhouse comfortable and service prompt. I like the practice facilities and convenience of locations of them to the first tee. Sweet large practice putting green to groove the stroke. It was an easy walk being a flat course despite the heat. Will be back.

What can I say about the Goose that hasn't been said before but to say it is in the best shape I have ever seen it in. Green fairways, green rough, sand in the bunkers and fast smooth greens. No wonder they are hosting a lot of events. Examples, Cal Am was on 5/17, U.S. Womens Open qualifier on 6/2, (2 spots were awarded), USGA amateur was on 6/14 and just on the 16th was the Drive,Chip, and putt contest for next year at Augusta. This has to be the best course in the area, hands down.
