Rode the Blues yesterday 11/10/2017 for the 1st round of the day on an unlimited Underpar voucher for $60.00 that included range balls, drink and cart. Played with my buddies Nick and Matt in 4 hrs 15 minutes teeing off at 7am and not having to wait on one shot. Cold tee off at 47 degrees warming up to around low 60's by the completion of the 1st round.

Legends and Champions has a nice big grass range, separate large chipping and putting areas and a nice huge clubhouse which is currently under renovation right now so groups are checking in below by the cart barn. Staff was professional and starter was nice. We had a quick lunch--prices affordable--I had the Turkey wrap which was tasty.

I had never played the Legends course before and I was blown away by the beauty and the layout--I loved the various doglegs and scenery that the course provided--it flowed really nicely--seemed to be a little tighter on the front with a little more room on the back. Would not call it target golf but there is for sure doom on every driver and iron shot if you are crooked with many hazards. It seemed to favor the left to right ball flight off the tee some which was perfect for our group.

The fairways I thought were in incredible shape rated an 8.5/10. Very green and lush and mowed just right--no problem areas at all.

The rough was very lush, green, maybe 2 inches lining the fairways--you were not getting much roll if you were in the rough. It could make wedges and irons more difficult and you really had to concentrate on if you had a flier lie or if you needed to dig down deeper to make great contact. Rated 8.5/10

The greens for the most part rolled decently--I thought the greens were just a step down from Champions only in that there were a couple greens on some shorter par 4's in the middle of the round that contained some old pitch mark damage and fungus that made a couple of our putts bounce--I think Nick had a putt that was going in the hole--bounced a foot off the ground and went offline. Overall they were not bad and I am rating them maybe a 7/10.

The tees were semi-lush to lush and most all teeing grounds were level. 7.5/10.

The sand was below average and was too firm in most places. I was only in one bunker on Legends and had no issues getting out but my playing partners had a lack of sand on this course. Rated 6/10.

Layout for me was a 8.5/10--I would return in a heartbeat to play Legends especially for $30.00 with a cart on a holiday rate day--recommended.

I paid $45 @ 11:10AM on Sunday - and while this course is a bit far for me, it was worth it. The fairways were great, they were pretty consistent and I hit the fairway for most all par 4 & 5's, and whenever I did it was like landing on a little patch of a green grassy cloud. I could concentrate on striking the ball and not worrying about tweaking my wrists or hitting hard dirt. I really enjoyed the layout of the course, it was more flat with slight elevations throughout on both the fairways and the greens. There are some really beautiful holes with large trees either on either side of the fairways or surrounding the back of the greens, there was a nice variety for being in the middle of basically nowhere (desert-like, southern California scrub). The practice facilities were OK. I would like to say that they were nice and adequate, but they were only adequate, but the sand in the bunkers were terrible - the bunkers were both incredibly hard and wet. They were hard even though it looks like they were raked at the beginning of the day, but there was stagnant water at the bottom of both of the bunkers. Otherwise the bunkers and pitching area was small but adequate. The driving range was very nice and adequate, it was all grass, smooth with lots of room. There are two putting greens, one smaller with sever elevation change and a large green that was part show piece and it was circular in nature. The tees (I play white tees) were good, they were a bit chewed up and while they looked a bit shabby, they were really nice and flat, with the exception of two tees they were all level and comfortable to tee off from. They were well laid out and appropriately placed from red to black. Fairways, as I mentioned were in GREAT SHAPE, I am extremely happy with them, it made playing my irons a lot of fun. Some places had a mix of grass, but I had minimal problems. Problems were normal, inconsiderate people not replacing divots and I landed right in front of a patch of crab grass on one hole - other than that, I couldn't give enough praise for the fairways. Greens, the greens were near awful. The first and second cuts were great except a couple of them were a bit shaggy. The greens sullied how much I enjoyed this course. The greens were a total mixed bag; on some greens they rolled straight when there was clearly a rise or fall, and in other spots the near opposite. One of the golfers I played with had a 1 1/2foot putt and he missed, which is fine, except for he had to putt it soft so the putt nearly made it into the hole but then it did a 90degree turn and ran away from the cup, it was bizarre. Here is my main point of contention that made the experience not as great as the rest of the course - the greens rolled fastish (stimp at the office said that it was at 9.5 - I'd give it a 10 to 11) it was pretty fast - BUT(!) if you had to putt softly, then the ball would bobble and bounce all over so you really had no idea what was going to happen within the last foot of the hole. That dancing away from the hole happened on every green. The bunkers were mostly really hard and had grass or mushrooms growing on the sides. There are some really big bunkers, so it was nice to play with a local to give me the proper approach, so I was able to miss any bunkers. It seemed to be that most of the bunkers were raked, but just not maintained beyond them being raked, there was standing water in some, growth, and hard raked sand in many of the bunkers. Oh, the clubhouse is being worked on, so while we walked through it, we had to take the long way around down to pay for the tee times. The staff was nice and friendly, but I cannot say that it seemed as though customer service was all that important, as the cartgirl was very nice as were others that worked there, I have nothing negative to say about the staff. I would give this course a 6 or 7, but the rate generator gave it a 4.7, as I said, I have to ding it for the poor greens, but the fairway play was GREAT and a lot of fun. Aside from the greens, I really enjoyed this course and the champion of this course was first and far most the fairways, next was the price.

Used a Under Par coupon for $45 that got us 18 holes, cart, warmup bucket and a free beverage, water or a soft drink. Good deal and the course was in very good condition. Tee boxes not overly beat up, the fairway had good coverage. The courses in the I.E. have been playing pretty good this season. With usual dormant turf leaving many brown area with Under Rpairs all over the place, but not this year. I guess last years rainfall really helped the golfing community. The rough was thick and long but the fairways were freshly cut and playing real well. The greens are soft and receptive. Good roll, divot marks being addressed, great job.

The course seems to be going through some upgrades. The check in has been relocated downstairs close to the cart barn. Looks very temporary but still stocked with the necessary equipment you'll need for your round. Ustomer service is cordial, the guy at the cart barn can be a little short, but the starter is a friendly chap.

POP was right at four hours with no real issues on any hole. Overall I'd give the course a B-. Good course and layout that is better than most in the area.

A friend reached out to me the other day and suggested we meet up for golf this morning. After looking for last-minute tee times, Morongo was a good meeting spot and the 7:40 tee time on Legends was by far the best option left available for a twosome. By pure coincidence, it turns out that our playing partners ended up being HmtGolfGuy and lotrgolfer48 playing their GK Cup match! Crazy small world I guess. We enjoyed a relaxed pace and were finished right around 4.5 hours. The course was in pretty good condition all around. The tee boxes were good, though a few of the blues are starting to get kind of lumpy. The fairways were mostly pretty good. Fairly wet and squishy most of the morning with a hodge podge of different grasses in play. Some bare spots here and there, but mostly good coverage and consistent maintenance. The rough was mostly in good shape and just thick enough to make you work. The greens were soft and receptive, rolling at medium speeds. Sign at the pro shop said they were running at 10, which is probably about right. The surfaces were nice without too much ball mark damage, rolling a bit slower than they looked (though speeding up some as they started to dry out). Bunkers were a mixed bag. First one I was in was like wet cement. Another one later was decent. I usually enjoy my rounds at Morongo. It's a good facility with two fun courses. I personally prefer Legends a bit more than Champions, so it was fun today. Even more enjoyable getting paired up with some GK friends!

Played both legend and champions courses on Friday, April 21. Teed off on legend 1st, at 10 am. Pace of play on both courses was great. Course was in great shape, with the exception of the bunkers, which the necessary sand. Courses are definitely on the come back, and greatly improved from the last time I played here. Definitely worth a play. Just wished they could remedy the bunkers. Greens were exceptional. Worth a play.

Had a fun, yet challenging Sunday round at Morongo GC Legends course with Kassper7 and another friend. It was my very first time at this course and I must say it was well worth the drive out from the beach. Really beautiful surroundings once you get past the construction areas still going on up until around the fifth hole. The feel of Morongo Legends reminds me a bit of Tierra Rejada with the first nine being very hilly with some ravines to cross over and some interesting downhill angles to navigate, but then flattens out on the back nine and ends with a strong par 4 closing hole with water protecting the green. And like 17 at TR, there's also a very short (86 yards today) par 3 at Morongo. It's a very fun layout and again, some of the old trees and wildlife are really cool to observe. Conditions are very good right now with some great fairway coverage, nice tee boxes, a few areas of some very thick and difficult rough, and some nice greens with tricky undulations to them to challenge your putts. There were definitely a few more ball marks than one would expect at this caliber of a golf course, but nothing too awful that it affected my view of the conditions. There is definitely a lot of trouble to get into when wayward so keep that in mind. A few of the long holes still do not require driver and you can find yourself looking into some serious brush to find your ball. My only gripe? I would say the bunkers could certainly be a lot better, with some even having a few too many little stones in them for anyone's liking. It was a hot day but the cart service came around numerous times, however the snack shop at the 10th hole was closed by 3pm, which was a bummer (keep in mind this layout does not bring you back to the clubhouse after the front nine). Oh yes, the carts - while the GPS on them is good, they're far too slow and really come to a dead stop anywhere near the green. Yes, I get why they're doing that but once you're going away from the restricted area they stay slow for an eternity! POP was very good coming in at under 4 1/2 hours, and we even let a twosome pass us by near the 5th or 6th hole. Played the blue tees and got the first twilight rate of $37 which is a steal. So all in all big thumbs up from me for this very cool course that I would enjoy playing again someday soon, or even challenging the adjacent Champions course that promises to be just as much fun.

Played Morongo today, first off the tee at 0650. Let me start by stating this is the best I've seen the course in a long time. Looking to play a course that I haven't played in awhile and saw the Under Par Coupon for $41 and jumped right on it. This used to be a fave track of mine a couple of years ago but the conditions went downhill and I pretty much gave up on them. Whatever they did to improve the course conditions really paid off. Starting off with the fellow at check in to the guy who was assigning carts to the starter everything was great. Then you got on the first tee and WOW! Tee boxes, great. Fairway, great. Rough was tough and thick and greens was firm and fast through the entire course. No disappointments at all. Oh and let's not forget about the bunkers. We played early so the sand was wet and heavy, but still very playable with a good fill. I came home and bought 4 more coupons and looking forward to playing again maybe a little later in the morning with some sunshine and warmer days. Check it out fellow hackers. I think you'll enjoy it!

Played 4/1. Nice short game area. The range is real grass but the range balls are pretty beat up. Customer service was not good today. I didn't get one smile from anyone except the waiters at the restaurant. After i got my cart, I told the cart attendant the storage area of my cart was dirty and he handed me a towel and i had to clean the cart myself. WTF man. As for the course, it's in great shape except the greens. Tee boxes are level. Fairways, good grass coverage for the most part. The rough is thick and punishing. Bunkers consistent with right amount of sand in it. The greens... rolls true for the most part and 10.5 on the stimp but there are a ton of ball marks that no one fixes.

Played our Men's club tourney on Sat 2/14. Big tournout due to the rains many of us had not played and were suffering cabin fever. Slight drizzle at my place, hard showers in the Fontana area, looked like maybe we would be canceled.

During our brkfst which was decent, the rain/drizzles stopped, we had an 8:30 shotgun start which got under way on time, hit our 1st drive about 10 minutes later on our assigned hole.

The Course - conditions were in much better shape than what I was expecting due to all the rain the last couple days, and the intermittent showers that morning. The entire course was nice and green, the rain has helped.
Tee boxes wee semi-lush a bit uneven but playable, not too many divots. The fairways were running decent with no plugged shots, the rough was at about 2-3 inches and not punishing. The bunkers were damp, fortunately is was not in one, but 2 of my guys were and had a couple bad shots with the damp sand killing the club momentum.

The greens were med fast to slow, were running around 9.5 to 10 as the round progressed. Pin placement on some holes were punishing, they were set right on the crown of some tricky slopes. One or two ball marks from the teams in front of us, but most were repaired, specially the ones closer to the hole.

All in all a very nice day, a bit on the cool side at first but the sun peeked out after about our 10th hole, and warmed up as we were finishing. Customer service was good, people running around the parking lot helping take clubs to the carts, food/beverage staff was friendly, and welcoming. 19th hole was restricted to the bar area due to prep for a wedding party, and no food service except at the snack bar.

Keeping it in the short stuff - helped to shooting a very decent round for this Old Duffer
