Course was very, very busy this morning - and even more so as we finished our 4 1/2 hour round. The fairways have greened up with the warm sunny days - many still have tight lies with the mostly bermuda grass. The tee areas were is very good shape. The rough was OUT of CONTROL and the only place you do not want to be on this course!! The traps were in good shape with a few being slightly wet. The greens were punched the past weeks and we found the front nine to be in worse shape than the back. The greens still held shots and rolled very good - just not what you usually find at Redhawk. I'm sure that a couple of weeks with good weather will bring them back quickly. Staff is always great here. The food is not recommended!

Two hour frost delay made this a painfully long day - 7am tee time off at 9am and not completed till 3pm.......not much fun. The greens were impossible to read today, not sure if it was the firm gree... Continue »

Two hour frost delay made this a painfully long day - 7am tee time off at 9am and not completed till 3pm.......not much fun. The greens were impossible to read today, not sure if it was the firm greens or what? The tee boxes were in okay shape. just damp from the rain earlier in the week. Fairways were very muddy and thin in many areas and the rough was pretty thick. The fairway sand traps here are very hard and not well kept. Most of the green side bunkers are pretty well maintained. The staff was a little stressed the frost delay this morning, but did a very good job dealing with the golfers.

Back again - the frost delayed play this morning for over an hour and turned the quick planned round into a days outing. The tee boxes are thinner and more torn up than last round here. The fairways are all nearly dormant now, but they still allow for a lot of roll. The rough for the most part will grab your wayward shots and stop them quickly. The greens are GREAT - the best I've ever seen them here in twenty years! The staff is always great - the food, two thumbs DOWN! Three if I had that many! Great course and getting better.

The conditions here are pretty good from tee to green. The fairways have pretty much gone dormant - which allows for a lot of roll on well struck shots. The greens were great - maybe the truest I've ever seen them here. The new ownership seems to have finally cut back on the over watering which most golfers had issues with. The staff is always very friendly here and welcoming to the guests. The course is definitely moving in the right direction.

Had a 9:00 tee time and since there were not a lot of people out this morning we were able to go out a 1/2 hour earlier. We cruised around in about 4 hours but could have been faster but no one was pushing us.

Greens were very soft when hitting approaches in but still pretty fast on putts. The problem is that because the greens were so soft there were a few more bumps than I would have liked to seen. I hate to see how quick these greens get in the afternoon when they have dried out. With the tiered greens I'd imagine it's not unheard of to 4 putt.

Fairways were odd. I think the front 9 was soft and damp from the rain/watering. Most of the holes on the back 9 seemed to to firm and brown so it took some adjusting.

Similarly the rough I thought was thicker on the back than the front. We actually lost a ball so keep your eyes peeled out for those wayward shots.

I was in one bunker and one waste bunker. The bunker was very heavy sand. The waste bunker was like hitting off clay.

I thought the tee boxes could use a trim but wasn't too bad.

Starter and the person in the pro shop were super friendly and helped us get out earlier than expected. Paid 35 for the round which I think is a great value. Pleasant experience and I will certainly be back.

It has been about 5-6 years since I played here. Always enjoyed this course, particularly the par 3 holes. ( I feel Redhawk has the best group of par 3 holes in So. Cal) The course was very busy this Columbus Day, but the starter, Gino was able to get us out first. Waited quite a bit for maintenance on the front nine, but played the back without delay. Just a tick over 2 1/2 hours to finish the round. Very disappointed with the greens and greenside bunkers. Still some residual bumpiness from the recent aeration. However it was the numerous bare spots which are of greater concern. I was in three greenside bunkers, and all were hardpan lies. The rest of the course was OK, The rough was brutal, but they are in the process of cutting it. Lost two balls in the rough, which rolled in just off the fairway. (U S Open thickness in spots) The demographics of the course seems to have changed, so I suspect it will be a while before I return. Like the course, just wasn't crazy about all the chaos in the early morning there

But then the back 9 took over 2 1/2 hours to complete had a 4some in front that wouldnt let me play through no marshall anywhere to speed them up. The course was pretty nice except for the bunkers they are crap like hitting off concrete. Glad it was my free birthday round. Doubt i will be back. Just didnt have a good vibe there.

If you enjoy 5-5.5 hour rounds (I don't even if they are free), then don't play Redhawk late morning on a weekend! I have played 30-40 times here and never had such a painfully slow round!! The course is in pretty good shape from the tees to the greens. The rough was fairly thick and made finding balls in it impossible at times. The greens were a little too damp for us even late in the round. The only place really needing attention on the course were the traps. Several of the traps (green side) were rock hard - like you would find in a fairway bunker. The views from the 17th tee are some of the best around. We will definitely be back - but much earlier in the morning!!
