Played with my monthly group today at Glen Ivy and, after finally returning for a second play, remembered what a very fun layout this course has and the conditions were mostly good as well. Our group got some nice perks like free range balls and our five groups were accommodated very well with a few of the guys coming in a bit later than expected.

We played from the blue tees with a first tee time of 10:40am. The cart service was excellent and frequent - much needed for a very hot day in Corona. I think there were water stations around but I brought my own HydroFlask and bottles so I never needed to double check them.

One complaint about the GPS in the carts ... while it's a good system when it's working properly, there are far too many times when the cart reaches an 'illegal' area and the carts come to a halt. A few times we followed the cart exit signs just ahead of the greens and on the path THEY carved out we would get stopped and have to back up. Very annoying and unnecessary.

Course conditions were mostly good with a few observations of note. The green on the par 3 5th has a lot of damage, some section blocked out with white chalk squares like playing hopscotch, and lots of dirt. After that one though, the greens were in pretty nice shape overall and rolled medium-fast with true lines. Nothing too funky in terms of breaks or slopes on these greens.

The tee boxes were mostly in playable shape but nothing too special about them. Fairways mostly provided very good lies despite the intense heat down here recently, so that was a nice bonus. The rough was not too penal but there were some thin areas and of course lots of places to lose balls, be it water features or in the runoff areas off the fairways. The best part of the course? The bunkers. They have the best white, fluffy sand and play incredibly well if you find yourself in them. Maybe the best I've seen anywhere in SoCal all year.

If you like a lot of varied terrain, a nice selection of narrow and wide fairways (mostly wide to be honest), some big carries down the stretch and some super views of the valley below, then Glen Ivy is definitely worth a visit.

Played here mid morning. Usually this place is fine but they are now charging a $15 additional single rider cart fee which is not listed on their online booking engine even though the time states that it includes a cart. Low brow move for a supposed high end course. Usually check in guys are friendly, it's really not that complicated but this guy was kind of confrontational and annoying. Anyway course was in fair condition. Tee boxes were pretty roughed up from the blues, a lot of divot damage and crabby grasses. Fairways were in good condition, a bit brown but playable. Sand is new, fluffy and bright. Best spot. Greens were okay, ran medium speed and soft. Number 4 green is in terrible shape, not sure what happened, it's pretty much putting through dirt. Pace of play was AWFUL, five hours, longest I've spent on the golf course in some time. No marshal. Stay away from this place if they are going to nickel and dime for carts and not enforce any pace of play standards.

played on a saturday morning which i don't usually do. nice to be out early, but it was 7am and we teed off 15 minutes late as the 1st was backed up. not much in terms of general covid precautions, just a face mask warning near the clubhouse, no separate carts offered.

i generally like the layout here, some pretty interesting holes. course was in pretty decent condition, tee boxes from the blues had a few uneven and patchy spots but generally all right. fairways were a mix of brown and green, soft and forgiving with a few areas of ground under repair but coverage was decent. rough was a mish mash, some areas with very patchy grass. looks like they are bringing in brand new sand, workers were hauling it in by the truckload and fairway and greenside bunkers were full of bright and very heavy sand. need a good swing to get it out. greens were in good condition, receptive and ran well. POP was about 4:15. pretty good day out.

7/20 using clicket voucher $40 on a warmish morning with an unlucky draw following a very slow 4some for a POP of 445. Staff came by when we were on 17 and said he told them to pick up the pace, apparently the groups behind us had called the pro shop--if we knew that was an option we would have called in on #6.
This is a winding layout with good variety and some elevation changes, seems remote even with some houses along the course. Fairways have some very good areas with healthy growth and good lies. Some other areas are quite thin with some patches of dirt showing through. Many areas in front of greens are very damaged and at some point will need to be re-sodded. Rough is mostly a non-entity,short, dry except for a few areas closer to the greens where it had gotten more water.
Tees are a mix of thin to ok and some markers were placed near the front of the boxes to be on a slight down slope. Par 3s were a bit worn.
Greenside bunkers have deep thick sand which is well maintained. Course is renovating fairway bunkers and have laid the bottom liner--a kind of poly fiber vs plastic. Currently these bunkers play as GUR.
Greens are fairly quick but hold well struck approach shots. Some are on the thin side and a couple have some scrapes along the perimeter and many have unrepaired pitch marks and evidence of old marks in various stages of recovery.
Friendly staff, driving range with quality mats and new balls. Practice green mirrors course conditions.

I played today with Ed, Christal and Greg (Caligolfer1031). We had a tee time of 8:56 a.m. I had booked on GN but they very kindly gave me their senior rate which saved a few dollars.

Conditions were pretty much the same as described by sr129. The fairways were more brown than green.. Overall, they were cut very short but I happily found many plusher lies that really helped me hit my woods more successfully. The tee boxes were a little shaggy but level with minimal damage. The greens were soft, held shots well, but were slowish and a bit bumpy.

Many of the fairway bunkers are being renovated. The ones in process had some kind of sand colored cover over them. There were drop areas next to them. The completed bunkers had deep, white sparkly sand. I did get to hit out of two of those. The other bunker I was in wasn’t nearly so pleasant. It was the one in front of the green on #4. It was filled with pebbly dirt and a swarm of bees! Luckily, I hit a really good shot and got out of there fast!

All of the water features were full which I haven’t seen in a while. The one by the #16 green has been enlarged and now extends all the way behind the green and around the side of the building. There are several fountains shooting into the lake. It was very well done.

The beverage cart came by several times. POP was good at 4 hours. Always a fun course to play.

The tee boxes are in need of reworking. Most are fairly level but most are very thin and really beat up with lots of divot damage.
The fairways are cut short and are showing some dry areas which made for lots of roll but some tight lies.The rough is only about one inch and not much of a problem.
The greens are in very good condition and had very few pitchmarks. They held shots and were running at medium speed.
We were a threesome and played in 3:45 with no one pushing us. The staff is friendly and got us out right on time. No cart but the grill is open for takeout only so you could grab something at the turn.

First off at 6am on what was supposed to be a very windy morning, but luckily the winds never arrived. We finished just prior to 8:30am, and it appeared the winds were on their way. Thanks to the shop/starter for getting us out first and right on time.

Course was in overall nice condition. Greens were receptive and rolled well. Good coverage on the fairways. The only issue I had was that the greenside bunkers were all soaked. They might be better later in the day, but for us, way too mushy.

It's been a while since I played here, and noticed immediately the trees which were removed on hole #6. While I generally hate any time they remove trees, I think in this instance it makes it a better hole. Much more fair ! Glen Ivy is a fun track to play, with some interesting holes. Always so much fun to finish with such a spectacular hole.

Played 5/28 with a 7:12 tee time and got out about 10 minutes early. Was paired with a twosome of nice guys. Most tee boxes had good coverage and mostly level. One par three was very thin where they had the white tees but they could have been moved a little to better area. Most of the fairways are really nice. A couple had some brown/dry ares but still played well. Good roll out and great to hit from. The rough was a mixed bag. Thick in some areas and very thin in others. the bunkers are what you would expect now without rakes. Some were nice and some had lots of footprints. The greens were very nice and held shots well. They rolled at medium speed and had very few unrepaired ball marks. They have been rebuilding all of the lakes around the course and hole nine is the last one. They were laying a new liner and we were told that water will be going in by this Friday. The grill is now open but I didn’t go in. I have always enjoyed this track and the condition keeps getting better all the time.
