New management has made a difference. Course in excellent condition but I think the greenskeeper was in a diabolical mood today. The pins were tucked and placed just on the upper tier or just on the edge of the bottom tier. Greens were quick so if you were not on the correct tier. No way. I did enjoy it though

Played 2/17 at noon. They have twilight rate of $29 starting at noon for a course not too far from San Gabriel valley so it's a good deal. Course wasn't crowded except for a 5-some we had to bypass since they wouldn't let 2somes pass thru.
Noted that the only green part of the course were the "Greens". All the fairways and rough were dormant and the course hardly had any trees so it just did not suit my eyes. Reminded me a little of the Links at Summerly but had more elevation changes and holes were stacked a little closer. Other than dormant grass, overall condition of the course was very playable. You'll certainly get a lot of roll on your drives. Greens were very smooth and looked fast but speed seemed a lot slower than they looked.
Other than the 5some with no manners, if you can get past brown visuals it can be a fun course to play with good winter conditions.

Dos Lagos has gone through many changes, much for the better. With it's new management, I find the stff more eager to serve and their attitude welcoming. The course is in the best condition is ever has been and the greens roll pretty true. Watch for the cantalevers. Players need to fix their ballmarks. Maybe the pro shop should hand out cheap tools-would players get the message then? so no one would have an excuse!

The more I play here the more I like playing here. I like the variety of holes. However, they really need to get rid of the fairway bunkers on number 6 and the fairway bunker on number 16. They are right smack dab in position A of where you want to be in the fairway if the bunkers were not there. The course is in great condition with only minor maintenance issues, mostly with some tee boxes. This is a course where an eagle can be made or a quad can be made. A rewarding course that can quickly sink your ship if the quality of your shots decreases.

Overall, good shape. tee'd off at first light so pace of play not an issue. Lots of easy holes, but #6 and #14 are all the golf hole I can handle and more.

Played in a tourney on Saturday morning, 9/18/10. They move the blues up to the white markers on weekends for 'pace of play' - lame. Now you're playing 'blues' at 6000 yards. Greens with lots of ball marks, debris, scrapes from morons dragging their feet. Marshall came by many times recording cart numbers for pace, but the scramble tourney in front of us was excruciatingly slow - pace >5 hours. Course is jammed into available space - watch yourself, and being hit into from adjacent holes is common - a group on the 4th tee bounced a ball off the roof of our cart on the 7th tee. Many tee boxes wet and torn up, esp. par 3s, where tees are very small. Carts are old and have no windshields, ball cleaner, cooler. Saw many instances of carts being towed out to groups who had carts die. No sand in cart containers and didn't see any refills. 3 holes path only. Go elsewhere.

Played 9/15. Course is in decent shape. Fairways dormant, but not hardpan. Greens are in good shape, but the color is an odd green, so I'm guessing a tinted fertilizer being used.

They have tried to lengthen it a bit, which is good. However, the blue tee at #9 is absurd. You don't know if you are aiming north or south, you can't see the hole at all. This tee should be scrapped at let everyone play it as a 290 yard Par 4, nothing wrong with that and the course would still be an adequate 6400 yard Par 70.

Played in the late afternoon on Wednesday, 9/8/10, on a cool cloudy day with light breezes. Wasn’t able to get to the course until 5:30PM but was off by 5:45 at the ST rate with no one in front of me, and got 15 holes in before it got too dark to see. First time here and had heard both good and bad about the course – I’m in a tourney here next week and wanted to get a look at the course.

The course is a mix of short and very long holes, mostly dictated by the land available. There are some interesting and challenging holes, and some real BS holes. The course has been shoehorned into an area along a creek below a housing development – many holes have very narrow hitting areas, others are pushed close together, making it dangerous for shots coming at you from other holes. I know a guy who was hit in the chest standing on #11 tee by someone playing #12.

There are some funky holes resulting from this shoehorning, followed by attempts to lengthen the course – several of the blue tees have been pulled back across the creek to lengthen the holes – such as 1, 9, and 10 – subsequent foliage growth in the creek on 1 and 9 have left very restricted sightlines and hitting lanes – on #1, you can barely see the 150 post and a corner of a bunker, everything else about the hole is obscured; on #9, none of the fairway, etc. can be seen, only a large tree above the right side bunker complex – in both cases, you have a slot about 20 feet wide to hit through, with no margin for error. These and other holes can be visually intimidating off the tees, with the holes discussed above and some others that present narrow hitting lanes from the tees with hazards close by – 4, 6, 7, 16, 18.

There are a brace of lengthy par 3s that will challenge your distance and accuracy – 3, 5, 11, and 15. Hole #11 is a 232 yard par 3 with a large nasty roller coaster green that looks like it belongs on a short par 4, not on a brutally long par 3.

And Hole 14 is a 614(!) yard par 5 where the tee shot must be squeezed through a 30-yardwide area between a scrub-covered slope on the left and a lake on the right that extends out to 250 yards from the blue tee – get out your rifle, baby!

Conditions: greens were generally in good shape and rolled well. Greens were softer on the front nine, and firmer on the back nine – all had many old and new ball marks. Fairways were mostly dry and lies thin. Not much rough to speak of. In one bunker that was wet and hadn’t been raked by an earlier occupant. The Par 3 tees are restricted in size and were pretty torn up with divots and uneven areas. In contrast to most of the course, there were several soggy areas in the fairways down gradient from enthusiastic sprinklers, especially on the front side.

No cart girl this late. Staff was friendly and helpful when my cart wouldn’t start initially. No range or even putting green in use (on wrong side of river for blue tees on 1 and 10), so be prepared to do your own warm-up. Some water available, but it would likely be inadequate on hot days. Minimal facilities - outhouses on #s 5 and 14. No clubhouse, only a trailer.

I can think of many better places to play nearby – Goose Creek, Eagle Glen (just across the freeway from DL), Oak Quarry.
