Played Journery from the blacks at 1p with my bro on a gorgeous but windy day. This course is stellar and absolutely gorgeous. It's a 'target' style course in some ways where left and right are lost ball on most or all holes and the fairways feel a little tight at times, but with that said, it's an absolute must play IMO.

Conditions overall: Journey is the very epitome of a high end 'resort' course, where nearly every blade of grass from edge to edge, putting green, chipping green, driving range and course, is lush deep green perfection. Speaking of, probably the best overall practice areas I've ever seen, three distinctive areas for putting, chipping and full swing, all immaculate.

Layout is creative, undulating and picturesque, but still straight forward with the exception of maybe 5-6 holes that will have you guessing a little the first time through. Someone posted a great 'tip' on GK for EVERY SINGLE HOLE and that read was absolutely INVALUABLE. I paired his tips with a google earth view of each hole and really felt about as prepared as you can be for a course like this. Still, I probably left at minimum of 6 strokes out there that were mistakes easily correctable once you have basic course knowledge. Fairways felt a little tight on a few holes but I'm sure once you get multiple rounds under your belt it's pretty easy to navigate because there really is plenty of room off the tee and generally lush rough to save leaking shots from straying too far off track.

Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all PERFECT condition. Period.

Greens showed trace signs of the most recent hold punch but rolled absolutely perfectly, fast but smooth as silk. They 'looked' a lil more dried out than everything else around, but they were soft and holding all good shots.

Bunkers were gorgeous white sand and consistent in every one I visited, which was more than I should have. The ONE note i'd say about them is it was almost odd how 'heavy' the sand felt. Again, perfect white and soft, but just 'heavier' than it looks.

POP was perfect as well. Finished easily in under 4 hours and never had anyone slow us down though we thought it was gonna happen because of multiple larger groups ahead of us.

Service was generally very friendly, the lone disappointment not seeing the cart girl even ONCE on the back nine, and that after my bro kicked her a nice tip on the front hoping to ensure we saw her again. Teeing at 1p shouldn't have been too late to have service all the way through IMO.

Summary: 9/10 Not at ALL the more traditional 'championship' style course I usually prefer but still one of the best and most enjoyable rounds of golf EVER.

Pro Tip: I was a little shocked at how strong the wind kicked up, especially the later it got, which obviously made everything about the course more difficult. Get the wind right your first time out or you are just kicking against the pricks.

Early am five hour round here on a great course. I've played here several times and think this is probably the best condition it's been in for years. The staff is great and helpful. The practice area and carts are the best around! The tee boxes were all nearly perfect as well as the fairways with not one bad area to be seen!! Perfectly maintained!! The rough was exactly that - Rough!! If you were in the long stuff you weren't going to advance the ball nearly as far as you hoped. The traps were all in perfect shape with a few being a little damp. The traps here are what traps should look like - FULL of sand! The greens had been punched three weeks back according to Robert, who joined us and is a regular here. You could still see where the holes were but they had filled in enough not to be an issue. This was the first time playing here that I was actually able to read the greens correctly. The deals for this course make it very fairly priced. Highly recommended!!

10:10am Sat. tee time at the Journey and a PoP of 5 hrs which included short waits at many tee boxes. The course and surrounding resort are visually stunning considering you're in Temecula and the area has some interesting rolling hills and water features. Lucky to play here in the Spring when everything is green and flowers are blooming. Well thought out layout with a large variety of golf holes ... a bit of course knowledge is helpful but not required as they have good GPS on the carts. Not walkable due to some super long distances between greens and tees. A bit pricey ($110 as hotel guests) but once in a while it's worth it and the Journey I would agree is worth it ... maybe only once a year. Conditions were very good, tee to green. A few bare areas in fairways which did not deter the beautiful surroundings. Rough mostly lush but some thin area the farther away you move from the fairways. Greens running medium speed ... true rolls, a bit firm ... with only a few sunflower seeds from amazing, selfish dim-wits. I mean really, why spit shells on greens and tee boxes ... bring a cup. Bunkers had great sand only marred by clientele who chose not to use a rake. Great experience here at Pechanga (minus the casino which I avoided) and would come again for sure ... if you've not played here it's one to add to the list. I'm glad I did.

I started my New Year's Day here. I had a 8 A.M. tee time, but had a frost freeze for about 30 min., after the freeze was lifted, we where given the opportunity to go to the range and practice area. They have one of the best short game and practice area, that I've used. Now to the game. The tee boxes have been one of the best I have played on in a long time. They are large firm and flat, with minimal, to not damage. The fairways are large and spacious, not too many trees to hit into. But there are so gorgeous and majestic views from some of the back 9 tee locations, so there are forced carry to reach the fairways. It is a must to play the proper tee locations, I played white, which was good for me. The fairways are firm flat and have some lushness to it. The rough was cut down, so it was easy to play through those lies.
The bunkers are placed on many of the holes, which adds to the beauty of this course. The sand was a bit firm, not fluffy, but playable. The greens rolled really fast, I mean really fast, but true. the greens also have some angulation, you need to read before striking your putt. If you are above the hole, be careful, because a miss 1st put may give you and additional 2 or 3 putts to finish. I saw more putts, barely tapped, run 8-10 feet passed, because of the angulation. A couple of hole had pin placements right on the edge of the slope. Overall the course is in super condition, it has great views and character throughout the layout of the track. It should be a must play for your Bucket List for 2018.

Went out to take a journey on the golf course at Pechanga today 11/4. Our tee time was at 720 AM and we arrived in the parking lot a little before 7am. Before we could even open the door a representative was there to collect our bags and offer assistance. While we where putting our shoes on at the car he was nice enough to inform us on where to go and what to expect. Check in was a breeze and we where off across the bridge to the starter and the driving range. I was eager to get a few swings in before playing as it has been about 2 months without golf.

The starter gave us a heads up about the course being Cart Path only which the website had informed us of. he also let us know to take our time as there was a three some with the Head Pro, Course Manager, and Head of the Casino. Talk about a high profile group. He did let us know they where aware of our twosome and if they noticed us wait at all that they would wave us through. We never had a problem because we played nice and slow.

Over all condition I would say darn near immaculate on every aspect from tee to green. The tee boxes where lush as could be and plenty of options running 7100+,6700,6300,5400 yards. The fairways where a little long but offered great lies and the starter let us know that this would be the case. The rough here ranged from 3-6 inches and was very penal. I had a few occasions where the rough would grab my wedge and force me to hit a poor shot.

The greens were probably the best part of the course as they where medium firm and running quick once the morning dew was gone. We were informed that because of a tournament going out at 9 that the pins were in some very tough locations and always expect a break away from the hills and towards the Casino/valley.

The best news of the day is when we reached the turn the starter informed us that the back nine was going to lift the cart path restrictions as the Course managers liked what he was seeing in front of us. This made the course a little easier to handle and it showed on my scorecard.

If Had to nit pick anything today it was the bunkers. The first one I was in was lite and fluffy. After that the 3 others were a little firm for my liking causing a few flyers from my playing partner and I.

Over all its a great course and a very nice mixture of holes that keeps you entertained throughout the day. If you can find a deal make sure to go play as rack rate can run from 135-150 depending on the time of the year.

Journey at Pechanga is an excellent course with spectacular views and a variety of different holes. The course condition is outstanding, understandably so, since it is cart path only. This is a huge negative for the course, there has been no rain and yet you still can't leave the cart path. This makes the round very slow and annoying. The course is not well marked because the cart has an excellent GPS system, which is made worthless since your 50 yards from the cart. There is talk the cart path only policy is going to be extended through March, if this is the case, do not pay to play here. Wait until the superintendent figures out how to allow players access to the course and keep it nice. If the cart path only policy is temporary, than wait until changes and then play there, because it is beautiful and fun.

Week late here but I've been busy. Like always enjoyed playing with D-Con and enjoyed the course conditions and layout. Hard to get bored playing Journey and the conditions were very nice especially considering the heat they usually have to deal with out there. It was actually chilly when I got there and then it warmed up to a nice temperature. I saw a few rough areas in a couple fairways, but mostly where David's ball ended up, not mine. Rough was of medium length and quite sticky. Bunkers were slightly firm with a layer of soft just on the top. Greens held well struck shots and rolled rather well . . . although here is where my opinion differs from David's as I fixed well more than my share of ball marks. Maybe from way up there he doesn't see them as well as I do?
Layout is fun, tricky and does require one to map out a plan.
Find a deal and get out there, have fun!

Played on an Underpar certificate for $89 with GKer rat-patrol at 1010am on a clear hot Sunday, 8/20/17. The course was mildly busy and we went out sandwiched between a number of foursomes, and played thru one group on #3, so pace was relaxed in a little over 4.5 hr, with quite a bit of waiting on the back nine. Staff was friendly and helpful, including engaged starters, and we saw the cart girl a couple times. The course offers complimentary water from the 1st and 10th tee, and the cart girl has free water as well – nice.

The course is in very nice condition. Greens were cut tight and are firm and running at medium-fast speed. We didn’t see too many old ballmarks. Fairway lies were good – we saw only scattered thin/bare areas. Rough was cut short and dry so it was very playable. Tees were level and fine. I was in one bunker greenside on #4 and sand quality was good.
Very nice grass range with comp balls, and a good short game area. Putting green is fairly large and has slopes that look like the on-course greens. Plush carts and quality GPS system. Cooler with water and ice.

There’s a couple holes here that I have issues with. I don’t like the layout of the 9th hole – a solid drive puts you behind a wall of oak trees with nowhere to go, unless you can fit your drive into a narrow hallway between OB right and that big oak. So maybe a hybrid off the tee on a par-5 – ugh! Hole #7 is funky in that there’s about a 30x30-ft area just inside the right bunkers where you can have a reasonable 2nd shot to a severe green. Hole #13 is still shown as the 2-handicap hole, and as a 587-yd par-5 on the card and website, but issues with balls flying into homes along the left side have forced the course to move all the tees up to <500 yards – the white tees we played Sunday were inside a 455-yd marker. The initial right bunker that was a factor from the back tees is now sitting out there pretty moot, and you mainly just have to stay short of the creek crossing. From there it’s 230 (wedge-wedge) in, factoring in the deep narrow green against the creek left. Not really the 2-hcp hole anymore, IMHO.

Always a pleasure to play here, and I enjoyed Jim’s company during the round. Lots of construction going on at the resort with a new room wing and new spa being built, and traffic in Temecula and on the freeway afterward was horrific.
