Played here on Tues 10/17. The crews were out mowing, and spreading fertilizer. The fairways and rough are getting dormant, beginning to show brown areas, but playable and maintained. The tees were fairly level, not many divots. The fairways rolled well. The greens rolled well, some ball marks, and at times bumpy. The rough was fairly short, but tended to grab the club (for me that is). The bunkers had good quality sand in them. The course is always challenging to play.

I played here on Friday the 13th...The course, you can tell is being prepped for over-seeding. The fairways and rough are getting dormant (low watering), but playable and maintained. The greens are still rolling good. The bunkers have been kept up nicely with good quality sand in them. The course is always fun and challenging to play. They will re-open Oct 30th. So I expect it to be back to top Quality again!

Always like the layout here, but the condition right now is pretty iffy. Starting at the practice tee, range balls were very rough, many gouged up or scalped, or lacking dimples, and it was hard to find grass to hit off. On the course, tee boxes were very thin and took some hunting to find a good lie. Fairways are also thin in many areas, But not too many bare areas. Greens looked mostly ok but had a lot of bumps and were cut inconsistently (some looked like the mower skipped some of them). The rough was patchy, with bare spots prevelant among the tufts of longer grass. Bunkers were pretty poor, especially green side where there were lots of rocks and pebbles and the sand was very thin, hard, and sometimes scarce. Some can be forgiven for end of summer, but other issues shouldn’t be there. Kudos, however to the cart staff who were on the spot to pick us up in the parking lot, friendly and helpful.

Played 10-9-17. Looks like they are preparing for overseeding. Should have asked but pretty sure. Tee boxes were all flat but virtually no grass. Many brown spots around the course. The greens are rolling better than I have ever seen there. Bunkers varied from firm to soft on top so typical for the rock. Wind was gusting to near 70 so made a tough course tougher but still one of my favorite courses. Not the best right now but still playable. Look forward to seeing how things are a month from now. Right now it's in the low 6 rating.

Been on the DL since GK La Costa, so I was totally ready to go out and get in some serious play. Hence I played the home track 3 times last week. From the time I arrived to the time I departed each day disappointment did not exsist in my vocabulary. I arrived in the parking lot and as I was gathering my phone and charging cable (carts have USB plugs) the baggage assist cart was already behind my car ready to take my bag to the cart area. Great start!

Walked up to the check in and either Curtis or Justin was there to accept my fees and set me up with a warm up buckets before hitting the course. Try the complimentary chocolate chip cookies. They go good with a cup of Starbucks. Since the management change rates have increased a few percent. I noticed when checking for tee times that Friday morning rates could be as much as $100. I have a senior membership which provides an excellent rates, especially for as much as I play there!!

Off to the warm up/practice area, which includes the driving range, chipping area and putting green all together where you will be greeted the starter, who keeps the flow of players on time up to tne first tee.

For late summer, early autumn conditions the course is in excellent condition. As always my only complaint is the lack of a well maintained bunker. They are pretty much non exsistent. I heard a couple of different reasons why they refuse to put a layer of sand in them with the one that makes the most sense is that the wind cleans them out too often and I guess they just settle to leave then hard pan or with some soft dirt to play out from. Tee boxes get and 8 except for the par 3s, those could use some attention. Fairways still green and provide a good surface to hit from. Never too hard to play from. The rough is long enough to penalize you, so keep it in the fairway. The greens are a little hit a miss right now. Most are very good with better than average roll but a few are showing some signs of wear. I'll bet they will be in very good shape after seasonal maintenance later this month. I heard the course will close for three weeks at the end of the month. So now is a good time to get a round in before the closure.

At the end if the round the cart guys are there to wipe down your clubs, bump them a couple of bucks. They do a good job. After your round the 19th hole is a great place for lunch. I suggest the Quarry Club sandwich with potatoe salad. Best sandwich I've had.

I played here yesterday, 9-10-17. Had a 12:05 PM start time, but since it was not crowded, we where able to start at about 11:20.
The course layout if so much fun a challenging, the conditions where good, but not outstanding like usual. The fairways and rough where a bit brown, due to the excessive heat we've had for the last couple of weeks.
The fairways where moved tight and firm, some bare spots throughout the course. The rough was at a very playable length. The bunkers has good quality sand, but make note there are a lot of bunkers throughout the course, which adds the challenge and beauty of the course.
The greens where a bit slower than usual, but rolled true. I did see a few hole with some fungus spots and dried out areas.
POP was a casual 4 hours, nobody pushing from behind until the 17th hole. It was a good day of golf.

Played Oak Quarry on 8/15 with my son. Been about 11 years since I've last played here and can't understand why it took so long to come back. Beautiful course! We had a nice cloud cover for about 15 holes and when we left it was a gorgeous 77 degrees!!!

Good combination of nice wide fairways on some holes and some holes playing tighter (hole 6 comes to mind). Ball sat up nicely on the fairways. Rough was not too penal.

Greens were very nice! Rolled true although I thought they would be a little faster.

Staff were incredible, we pulled into the parking lot and 2 minutes later, a cart showed up and loaded our bags. When we walked up to check in, they were on carts and ready to go.

As soon as we putted out on 18, my son turns to me and says "Dad, we can we come back". That says it all!

I played here on Saturday. I have the Players Advantage card. I was booked for 12:12PM. My playing partner and I got there about an hour early, and was able to start at about 11:25AM.

I played here on Saturday. I have the Players Advantage card. I was booked for 12:12PM. My playing partner and I got there about an hour early, and was able to start at about 11:25AM.
The course was not busy, maybe because of the weather. There was nobody in front for at least 4 holes and the foursome behind us was about 2 holes back. The course was in top notch condition, maybe few dry spots throughout the course, but mostly great lies. The fairway was mowed tight with nice lies. The rough was low, about 1/2" - 1". The tee boxes had a few hackers in front of us, and did not fill their divots, but mostly firm and flat with good lies. The sand bunkers had good quality sand, I know because I was in a few...The greens rolled nice and true. There are a few holes with elevated greens, and undulations. A definite MUST Play.

Played Oak Quarry on Sunday, June 25th, day that got as high as 104 degrees. Never saw the group in front or behind us so it felt like we had the entire course to ourselves. Teed off at 11 am and finished in just under 4 hours.

I always enjoy playing Oak Quarry and today was no different. The conditions are great most of the time and service is great. I have mixed feelings about one starter (a skinny older gentleman) who usually seems very cranky but he was in a great mood this day. He was smiling and making jokes. Maybe he gets overwhelmed when it is busy and gets cranky because golfers don’t listen. Anyways, conditions were what you’d expect from Oak Quarry except I feel like there was a small improvement on the bunkers since the last time I played.

Tee Boxes – Green, lush, mostly flat, not too many divots. I have to point out that on this day, blue tees were moved up from their usual location.

Fairways – Visually, it’s not as green as I would like it to be on some holes but other than a few small brown spots here and there, fairways are in great condition.

Bunkers – Last few times I played Oak Quarry, I felt, along with other reviewers, that bunkers could use some improvement. I was in three bunkers this day and I felt like there was some improvement. The greenside bunker on #4 (the long L-shaped one right before the hill which I seem to go into every time I play this course) was much softer than I remember it being. Also, I didn’t see all the little rocks that are usually in that bunker. I like fairway bunkers to be a little harder so the ball doesn’t get buried and fairway bunkers on #12 and #16 were just that.

Greens – I feel like greens at Oak Quarry don’t break as much as they look. Other than that, greens held shots well and were smooth. Maybe a little slower than what you’d expect from a course of this caliber.

* The marshall (the same gentleman that I mentioned as the starter above) came around several times, and he offered iced water which is very much appreciated.
